A beautiful morning to you all. Wow! It's been ages since I made any comment. I need to ask a very important question, please help me out.
I gave birth 4years ago in Texas, through the help of wonderful people in this great group, but since then I've not gone back to the U.S. My son's Passport is expiring next year, what do I do? When is the best time to go and renew his Passport? Is there any other thing I need to do? Will not going there all these years affect my son or me? Plus my Visa got expired, how do i renew through Dropbox without going for an interview?(N/B: I'm still eligible for dropbox)
Your answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

What if the one of the parents is not around for the birthing purpose
If your Hubby's not around, he can scan and send an already typed & signed consent letter to your email so all you have to do is print it out and sign before sending to the embassy with all other documents.

Thanks @Bisoye...but they wrote 35wks on their website nah?? Na wah O. Will just shift my gaze from them then. cry..
Please stay away from Qatar Airways oh, I was 35+1day pregnant and they deemed me unfit to fly. It took almost a month for them to refund my money, after deducting taxes and gbogbo tigbo(almost 50k).

Hello house I'm actually not new here, I have a question to ask. I've read some pages but couldn't find answers.
My question goes like this: I currently have a U.S Visa which bears my maiden name along with my Nigerian passport(I got my passport before I got married). I used it for birthing purposes in 2014 which was the same year I got it. I need to renew it next year because I intend to travel next year. The thing is both my Nigerian passport and my U.S Visa will expire in June 2016. I intend to renew both using my new name. Please what is the best way to go about it, is it going to be problematic or shld I just renew through Dropbox using my maiden name. I need suggestions please.

Lipsyred: Thanks debrixxy.i will be using delta too, intend travelling two weeks time, will be 35weeks then. How was the trip?did u go with foodstuffs? Was ur tummy very big?what were u asked on ur POE?cos I actually didn't disclose going for delivery it was late wen I got d info from dis column but my sis Inlaw will b having her graduation so I told dem that cos d tym is almost same as my delivery will wait afterwards.willin to risk it ,God will c me thru.Let know how urs went. Thanks
The flight was okay for me, no stress whatsoever; i just watched movies until like 2am and slept until about an hour b4 touch-down(using the restroom wen i had to). I'll advice you select an aisle seat for more convenience. I didn't go with any foodstuff but my mum came with some 3wks after and they didn't give her any stress. My stomach wasn't very big, but i declared my intentions right from my visa Interview. Why didn't you declare your intentions? In my opinion, that's the best thing to do. At the POE(ATL) i was asked my purpose, duration, how much i had with me, final destination and address, and was stamped in for 6months. My mum said they didn't even check her food stuff or asked her any questions, they just stamped her in with no date.

Phema: Thanks Debrixxy! How was Delta on your return leg? How much did you pay for an infant? How many stopovers did they have?
I just had my baby last week, i've not returned yet but i did call them even before i gave birth and i was abt $300 i think
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by debrixxy: 6:20am On Aug 30, 2014
dsaynt: Actually it doesnt take that long to get the birth cert. Usually an official would come to the hospital and give you the neccessary documents to fill and if u pay for expedited you'd get it in like 8 working days and if not you'd get it in like 15 working days. Passport works the same way, pay for expedited and you'd get it within 2 working days to 8 working days. Next in Naija visa. This would take approximately 2 weeks using an agent. If you are in Atlanta or New York it would be faster.

With expediting everything, within 4 weeks after birth you can be back in Naija
Please can you help me with more details on how to expedite your baby's Birth certificate, Passport and Nigerian Visa.

Thanks

Oluwamabelfunmi: hello everyone. i have bin a silent folower of this thread. thanks for all d updates, views n al. please wud nid your views on d ffg:
i planned using mihs in dec. i have d appointment wit financials only, is it ok to present dat at POE witout dr appointment? .please for dose dat traveld recently with financials only, how did u do it?
then howz POE at phienix like or is NY better?. then which airline is ok if travelling at 35/36weeks witout any stress.
please your swift response wud be highly appreciated. God bless you all
I would advice you to use Delta Airlines, they don't give you stress if you're 35/36wks gone. I was 36+2days when i travelled and all i did was to give them my Doctor's fit-to-fly certificate in Lagos during check-in. All you need is a fit-to-fly report from your Doctor. Please stay away from Qatar Airways if you're 35wks +1day even. Then concerning the POE, i'm not aware of both Phoenix or newyork's cos i came through Atlanta, but i didn't have to show any document because they didn't request for it.
Hope this helps.

mamacajah: @debrixxy,wow! thats a wonderful testimony on POE. with $1,500 the CBP officer let you in when recently we had someone at houston turned back for only having $2,500? thats real favour. I tap into it oh especialy as I am planning the atlanta route too. grin
Yes oh, God's favour indeed. My final destination was actually Houston through Qatar Airways but when they informed me that i was unfit to fly i took it as a sign and changed my POE to Atlanta, though i was angry sha. Imagine if i had gone through Houston POE, wow! God has a way of doing things.

MissG: Hello house, has anyone used Atlanta as POE? What was your experience, I'd appreciate a response. Thank you
Atlanta POE is great, I came in last week Tuesday, the 29th of July. It was smooth, flew with Delta Airline cos Qatar Airways deemed me unfit to fly cos I was like 35+1day. Their Airline rule is actually 35wks but according to them the 1day extra made me unfit to fly. And then they told me that their refund process take about 3weeks, was soo angry cos I had to buy another ticket 2days before departure and believe me, it was very expensive. shocked

Anyway ATL POE was smooth, we arrived 5:15am & we were one of the first folks to be interviewed. Didn't have a lot of cash on me just about $1,500 and the Customs officer asked me why I was here, I told him for Vacation & medical treatment, how much I had on me? Told him $1,500. Asked me what my final destination is, who i'm going to stay with, what I do for a living, what my Uncle does for a living and didn't even ask to see any document. He had already stamped me in for 6months before asking me some of these questions.

Was just praying throughout for Favour which God gave me.

Just pray for God's favour, that's what you need. grin

congrats to impish and leaky tribe and Portharcourtboy, good news everywhere. grin
I'm here to share mine too, Indeed God is faithful. I went with my mum to Abuja for our interview and it went like this:
Vo: good morning
We: good morning. I kept eye contact with her while smiling throughout the interview.
Vo: what is your relationship with ds woman?
Me: She's my mum
Vo: where to in US?
Me: Rosenberg, Texas
Vo: Who are you going to Visit?
Me: My Uncle. & then it dawned on me that she mentioned VISIT; that's when I replied:
Me: But that's not my Purpose for going to the U.S
Vo: So what is your purpose?
Me: To have a baby
Vo: Oh ok, Is this your first child or you have others?
Me: It's my first and I want the best medical care for him. Turns to my mum & asks her
Vo: what she does, how much she earns, if she's married, what does her husband do, if she has travelled before, if it's her brother we are going to stay with? My mum gives straight answers to all of them and then she turns to me and asks.
Vo: What do you do?
Me: Right now I run a fashion label with my sister, I used to be an Operations Engr with an Oil company but I quit my job last year blc of the nature of my job; I was trying to have a baby
Vo: So how much do u earn ryt now?
Me: On d average of N50,000 monthly, but my Husband Is the one sponsoring
Vo: So what does he do & where does he work?
We: He's an ICT Administrator with ******
Vo: Turns to my mum and asks who's sponsoring her?
Mum: My son-in-law, her husband.
Vo: Turns to me and asks: Have you ever travelled out before?
Me: No, I've never really had any reason to.
Vo: How long and when do you intend to travel to the U.S
Me: 11weeks from July 22nd
Vo: Have you made contact with any Doctor?
Me: Yes, I hand over the email correspondence with Dr. fagbohun and the bill attachment.
Vo: No I just want to see the cost.
Me: It's on the 2nd page, and while she's studying it I mention that I have a budget spreadsheet and hand it over.
Vo: Studying it and nodding her head says: Your visa has been approved and gave us d white paper, u can pick it up on Monday.
Mum and I walked out smiling which attracted all the security guards to beg us for money. lol grin

I want to add that HONESTY pays a lot; Only the Doctor's bill was asked for, I pointed out that I had a budget sheet while handing it over, she looked rather impressed with it. Please go with your Budget sheet, very important cos it shows how prepared you are.

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to this great forum and to our success especially Miri7b5n cos we exchanged emails and she kept giving me tips & encouragement.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL. wink
