DebsMed:Please also, is it a must I grind the egusi, ogbono and crayfish I'm carrying along to the US and Canada? I just feel more comfortable carrying them ungrounded but I don't want that to get them seized as I am told too. |
Brightingsus:Lol . Will get back to the house after experimenting. Gracias |
Unfelt:Oh, thanks so much. I indeed appreciate this. |
Brightingsus:Wow, wow, wow! Splendid! I will be experimenting this, and I'll sure get back on my findings. But sorry please, you seem to be talking from what you have experienced, am I right to think so? If this is from experience, I should have more confidence trying this out. Grateful all! |
justwise:Okay. Thanks sir. Will enquire at LHR. This is the stuff that I stumbled upon that aroused my inquistion https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y/nigeria/transit/somewhere_else/yes
|
Good evening all! Please, I'm making a short trip into the US, Canada and back to Nigeria through LHR but I don't have a UK visa and time is limited for me to get a Visitors visa right now. Really want to know if there's actually such a thing as a visa for visitor in transit for me to dash in to the UK and out same day either on my way to North America or on my way back, please. I did read about it somewhere, but I need to understand and be sure how this works. Justwise, frontpagelawyer and others please advise |
Good evening house. Please, travelling into the US with Knorr, will I have issues at the POE? |
salsera:So, no worries. You should be fine then, absolutely. |
salsera:Hubby did earlier on in the year in this very Trump's era without issues at all. However he had something going for him - he is not a first timer to the US and has always been brief in his previous visits. |
DebsMed:Yippee! US visa interview done and dusted. Apologies ahead please, this may end up being a long post. Background: Refused first in '15 when I wanted to visit with my husband, some sort of honeymoon. Moved on to visit Dubai. Was back to the US Embassy mid 2016 because i wanted to visit for Easter without hubby this time and interview was going well and very smooth till it got to the point I was asked if I was pregnant and I answered in the affirmative (hubby and I resolved on this seriously), asked if I will birth in the US, I said I don't know yet as I was just only in the middle of my very first trimester, that answer did me in, and interview ends at this point with a refusal yet again but I was satisfied I didn't deny being pregnant because I know there will still be a tomorrow for me with the US Embassy. Next, I was in South Africa for a church programme and then Kenya (didn't do more than 5 days on any of these travels). Applied online for Canadian TRV (they too have refused me previously in 2012 before I got married and was yet young on my job) and was approved after over 6 months. Thanks to all those too numerous to mention that makes this thread thick particularly the one and only Lady Guinevere and NanaF too that was the first person that ever answered me in the part 1 of this thread, haven't seen her comment a very long while. Fast forward to early this week: VO: Hello (looking at her system) Me: Hello (with a smile) VO: How do you do? Me: I'm good. And you? VO: I'm good (still not lifting her head). Passport please (I hand her my passport)! Where in the US are you going? Me: I'm actually headed for Canada to visit my sister, she's celebrating her 40th, but I also will want to use this opportunity to spend 4 days in the US visiting and attending a friend's 35th birthday in Texas. VO: You have a Canadian visa? Me: Yeah, I have a Canadian visa on the passport (she flips through to check). VO: Are you married? Yes, I'm married and we are blessed with a son who will be one by September. VO: Okay. What do you do? Oh, I work with xxxx company as their xxxx Manager, we are into xxxx. VO: For how long now have you been at xxxx firm? Me: I've worked with them for 6 years now. VO:Pick up your visa in 3 days time at this place. Me: Thanks ma (Walks away). Canada and US in a moment ![]() |

ramzylipi:One thing I know is that this thread has helped me a lot, all the way from the part 1, knowledge is power, research helps, no gainsaying that. I just don't like the quarrels here any more at all, I get scared talking cos I'm pro reading from pages 1 to the last (so that no one on the anti side bashes or bullies me or draws me into a pig fight, this fear is real too and I'm surprised no one experiencing this like me is talking, the anti group looks like they are the only ones afraid to speak up, I'm too), I was asked to, I did and I'm better for it. Have had a couple of travel experiences and a Canadian TRV in the kitty (hopefully, I will secure the US own soon too in addition) because of the diligence taught here particularly and in other threads. Everything has its season and time, everyone too. Let's just learn to do things right and stop being offended by those who point us in this direction, we will be happier for it on the long run. Study, stoop to conquer. Long live this thread. |
keni:Seconded! Too much negatives if one dares abscond from what I've gathered on threads here and firsthand informants. May we have understanding and not use our hands to sign up for a frustrating life, just my little prayer said. AMEN |

Yes. But check some more, you can get JFK cheaper than that, or you have particular airlines you want to fly? |
abujaniv:Yes, understood even much better now, we heard wrongly initially and that was corrected along the line, and you have sealed that correction for us now. Thanks dear VO. DebsMed:However, your response to the bolded will be appreciated, just to help us in decision making just in case he is all clear at work and decide to still use the ticket already purchased to make the trip. Thanks |
Good morning to you dear VO, A quick one here please. Hubby has been to the US a few times before but currently has as an unused, renewed B1/B2 visa that is about to expire (there hasn't been much opportunity to make a US trip even though he has been to the UAE and South Africa with me in 2015 and 2016 respectively). He just got a ticket to go do 10 days in the US from next week because we initially heard visa won't be renewed successfully if not used, he will arrive US about a day or two to expiration date. Hope this date of arrival wouldn't pose any issues for him at the POE particularly at this time as per change of leadership in the US? Or should he worry less and move his travel date till when he renews his visa, how easy will this renewal process be too without him using the previously issued visa at all yet? Thanks for what you do here to help us out. |
thebaft: awelekiti: bigfido:Thanks peeps! I really do appreciate these. Fingers crossed still |
DebsMed:Good evening all! I really will appreciate if this situation is brought to the front burner and discussed, per adventure I may have a solution ahead of time. Thanks |
Good morning all! A quick one here please. Preparing myself for a situation. The gurus in the house should kindly guide as I really didn't find the kind of situation in the thread while going through (unless I'm mistaken). A situation where one goes the online route and is approved God willing for instance, and is asked by His grace to forward his/her passport to the embassy, and the individual now has got a child between time of application and now, what will be the way to getting a visa for the baby back of the parent approved visa? Thanks in anticipation! Cc: Thebaft, Hotstepper, Jayfierce, Awelekiti, Bigfido, Redreact, and other gurus |
staggerlee:Okay, understood. Grateful! Will get to Wakanow and see the much I can fairly achieve with them.... |
staggerlee:Thanks Stag! @all: Is anybody in for an exchange? Help pay my hotel bill and I pay or transfer funds to designated account or person here in Nigeria with naira. I quite understand the rates are different, I'm factoring all that in. |
Js22621:My boat isn't so far from yours. Please, kindly come to our rescue. My Naira debit card is only able to hold my reservation, payment yet to be removed from my account by Protea Hotel Balalaika, Sandton. Called them for direction on how to make payment ahead of my trip and a confirmation letter and pro-forma invoice was sent to me with SA Bank account details to be used. What way round please? I don't have power for issues with the Immigration Officials at JNB. Thanks lots..... Cc: Staggerlee, Keneking, Femiaction, Samtol4, etc |
Signed up! I'm here too.... ![]() |

LadyGuinivere:Aha!!! Gbamest! .... You could just add something like "for enquiries relating to likely interview questions and your chances of obtaining a US visa, kindly go through both parts 1 and 2 of this thread so you have a fair knowledge of answers to such questions too as no one can effectively and clearly answer that one for you here". What do you think of such a line? Just play with words, dazzol! Thanks at LadyG.... We sabi say you know your onions Sis! Coolu Coolu better person |
Hey!!! Kikikikiki.... No, not at all @LadyG. Good afternoon Sis, I understand you quite alright. That isn't in any way what I'm advocating at all, people sure need to dig deep if they want to reach or do something tangible, that's why you just wouldn't pick gold or diamond on the surface of the earth like that, it is hidden deep for a reason. What I'm saying is, instead of answering such questions as they come, refer them to that upgraded introductory post and in it they will find all the "dig deep" advise. In essence they should be made to understand clearly in that introductory post that the answer to all those questions (spell the much of the questions out there and keep upgrading them as the need arises) are inside both threads, and they should search for them within, that nobody will really entertain/answer such questions from/for them. After study comes exams, and after exams comes promotion! If such an individual insist on having it via the shortcut way, you either keep referring him/her back there or you just ignore. It is actually for their good anyways! |
LadyGuinivere:In fairness to LadyG, she's doing a whole lot here and should be appreciated.... We all should be mindful of the fact that nobody is paying anybody for the "work" they do here! All the same, I think every newbie here will almost compulsorily ask some basic question, and this keeps popping up on virtually all the pages on this thread which to a large extent may become quite irritating to the ones expected to answer and those actually answering such questions. A seemingly good solution to this will be to go back to the first page, first and introductory post of this part 2 (which is quoted above, I believe more needs to be put in there still) and explain it all there EXHAUSTIVELY. LadyG, kindly go back to it and do a little bit of update on it. There, make directional statement on "those questions" (how do I start/go about my application, what documents do I need, what are my chances of getting a visa, questions to expect, etc) and how newbies/old-timers will need to go through previous comments on both Parts 1 and 2 (almost all the answers to the basic questions are already handled therein) of these threads. If Nairalanders subsequently ask those questions, simply refer them back to the opening comment as amended, basically. No quarrels! Na just to dey send dem back go that post in case dem continue to dey form deaf and dumb, na so I see am oh.... Or you fit kukuma bone the person afterwards sef! I genuinely sometimes wonder how the VOs on this and other threads put up with those questions over and over again, but they are (by reason of their training I presume), and I wish they too will adopt this suggested model above.... Greetings y'all! |
belloluddy:Your Dropbox Confirmation Letter (you will encounter questions geared towards reflecting your qualification for it or not) will be issued at the end of your attempt to schedule an appointment right after inputing your receipt number, instead of dates opening up to you.... Print and add it to the other stuff LadyG listed (they are there on the website too), you are then good to go. Just go submit at DHL whenever you are chanced. Regards |
LadyGuinivere:Lolzzzz @LadyG! Thanks a lot, will ask questions when the need arises.... |
thegreengooner:)...just curiousOh, okay @curious thegreengooner: Kindly revert to 'our' first post, previous page, last paragraph in order to catch the drift, it was always there.... 'We' are both bringing in the input, it's now officially 'our' (m & f) handle here. Thanks, thanks. NB: Any guide from your end? |
LadyGuinivere:Thanks lots Lady G and NanaF.... Aha! @LadyG, that's one major one you just drew my attention to now that makes the interview hurt me the more seeing there was no lead question to most of the directions that would have helped my case and I still feel the "outside the box approach" seems more suitable to deploy in lacing one's case (almost jettisoning that thought now though). Aside initially arriving and staying at his abode, It was part of our two weeks itinerary to enjoy an all expense paid trip to LA and/or Vegas for 5 days on our hosts expense depending on which was most convenient for us all but it was sure going to be one of both. Himself and family were to join us for the weekend, then we all return to their state to spend the remainder time together till we leave them for NY to pass two nights before coming back home to Naija. Well, there was neither an opportunity to express these either in the DS160 form or during the interview. The interview outcome did deflate my confidence at the time. I really don't want to go there "unarmed" or "unlectured" again, that's why I'm here (I go surely jack this thread finish before this year go finish, dem go hia my own wen I show dia again). Will fill and defend SELF as sponsor next time (even though hubby and friend will do the actual footing of my trip's bills). How about leaving hubby out of the trip this time (intend using him as "collateral" with the Embassy as I travel, lolzzzz)? But those visa approval determining factors they hide sha, it's not a good thing oh! Will come here to share my transcript soonest hopefully.... God bless thee! |
LadyGuinivere:@LadyG, truely, I haven't gone through much of this thread (will do) as you could easily see. I understand quite alright from another thread that DV application isn't a filing for IV, the thing I'm asking to know are its implication on an NIV application considering the "immigrant intent" stuff (I read somewhere that there's no better and easier way for you to have unknowingly told a VO that you're a potential immigrant than playing for the DV previously). On the satement "You get the option to explain the percentage of sponsorship", wish I had any idea how to do this as it seems to me it's close-ended, please direct me some bit more as ignorance of these things could account for one's undoing if not effectively exploited oh. Thanks much |
. I am going by their published guideline/info and holding them at their word. For me personally, I would hold that excerpt of where they have it published online to gbege them should they frown at me.
. Will get back to the house after experimenting. Gracias

. Gongrats! Your baby will also need visa o. You may go the paper route to make the process faster. However, you will need to explain the situation in a letter to the VO and still include all the documents with which you applied for your visa, including your previous and current visa pages in your baby's application. I wouldn't know what your mission in canada was, in the first place. If it was for birthing purpose, it's fine otherwise, you'd have to convince the VO beyond doubts, that your intention wasn't to go and give birth(against your purpose of visit as indicated on your application form) because it would be assumed that you knew your EDD and so, must have been advised not to travel by your Dr...except the Dr says otherwise. Please think about this before you apply for your baby's visa. I had a cousin who wanted to visit the UK in 2003 with his wife. The same was experienced by his wife. Though their main purpose of visit was to give birth in the UK before returning. Since they both had 2 years multiple visa, they had to suspend their proposed trip till the next annual leave. You may also wish to defer your travel, if your visa's validity is up to one year to be on a safe side. Cheers
