oloriooko: Football is widely accepted by all and many, majorly because it is seen as a friendly sport that can be played by anybody, regardless the age and class. However, some tragic incidents in this same sport have given rise to causes that it may not be that harmless and could be fatal.
Since Sam Okwaraji collapsed on the pitch of the national stadium in 1989 at the age of 24, 6 other Nigerians have followed in that tragic lane
1. Chinonso Ihelwere Henry; Delta Turcea, August 5, 2012: Henry collapsed during a friendly game against FC Balotesti in the 86th minute, after having been brought on for 10 minutes only. With the temperature being 40 Celsius degrees, doctors tried reviving the Nigerian player for 30 minutes before declaring him dead. Apparently, he underwent health tests a week prior to his death with no signs of problems detected. The cause was of his death was heart failure
2. Victor Omogbehin; Ilford FC, August 18, 2010: Victor Omogbehin died after collapsing during a league match. He played in the Isthmian Football League game from Ilford against the Lowestoft Town FC
3. Endurance Idahor; Al Merreikh, March 6, 2010: He collapsed during the match of his Sudanese club Al Merreikh against Alamal Atbara. He died in the ambulance. Autopsy report revealed that he suffered a circulatory collapse from a heart attack.
4. Bobsam Elejiko; Merksem SC, November 13, 2011: Nigerian born player who spent most of his career playing in Belgium collapsed and died while playing a 5th tier match for K. Merksem S.C. against F.C. Exc. Kaart
5. Orobosan Adun; Warri Wolves, May, 26, 2009: Before an away match with Enugu Rangers, Goalkeeper Adun of Warri Wolves FC, was assaulted by thugs suspected to be fans of the opposition team. Slumped and died 3 days later from internal haemorrhage, during a training session.
6. John Ikoroma; Al Wahda, February 2010: Collapsed on the pitch and later died in hospital
7. Samuel Okwaraji (August 1989): Collapsed and died while playing against Angola in a World Cup Qualifier. An autopsy showed that the 24-year-old had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure.

chiefinalowo: Could it be true that while ibos were been taken on by the Federal Forces, Ojukwu ran to Ivory Coast with his entire family members. The picture below was taken when Ojukwu with two of his children was in Ivory Coast. It was recorded that Ojukwu with his family members added more flesh during the war and also in Abidjan.
Can any ibo man prove me wrong? . I wonder what you stand to gain by this lies? Ojukwu and his family is never poor. When Africans can hardly go to school,Odumegwu Ojukwu was among the first black Africans to go to the prestigeous OXFORD Universty and he used Rose Royce a car that is for the royals and super rich in the society. His Father was the first African Million in British pounds, the Queen rode in his car and danced with him.Apapa Wharf was constructed by his father and they have many landed properties in choices places of Lagos.OJUKWU was never poor and he never went to war for the sake of it.YOU never cared to say what and how the Civil War Started. Its only a caword that dies so many times before his dead. The people that went to war are not complianing why you?The Pogrom/genocide that went on in the northern nigeria before then you didn't hear or know about it.Ojukwu as the governor of Eastern region then have to negociate with the Central Govt, that was when ABURI ACCORD GHANA came up.The FG came back and reneged on the agreements that have been reached and Ojukwu hv no choice that to declare State of Biafra.Remember it was Ojukwu that released Awolowo from Calabar prison. Its the people of Eastern Region then that mandated Ojukwu to declare Biafra since they are no more wanted and no more safe in State of Nigeria. The core things that bedeviled/troubled Nigeria State then that was supposed to be resolved/sorted out then is unresolved and its still troubling the Nigeria of today.OJUKWU is a hero and will be hero forever. If He is not a Hero why discuss him,he remains the only man that was honoured in almost all the major cities of the world when he died.No African president will ever get such a heroic burial as we all saw when he was liad to rest.OP ask yourself can you ever reach or achieve 1/10 of his fame. Why did FG sieze their landed properties in Apapa,Ikoyi,IDDO and other places of Lagos and Nigeria. With 20pounds as the IBOs are still powering. And standing tall high above you bigot.PlS OP go back and read well for he who is not informed is deformed.God bless Biafra,God give eternal rest to our Hero DIM CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU.IKEMBA,EZEIGBO GBURUGBURU nodu nma. |

I'm worried because the guy hasn't proposed and he is from Anambra state . I don't know if he'll eventually marry her because I've heard and I've seen a lot of people from Anambra state marrying from their tribe.
I need to know why they do that even when most times it's against their wish. What's your advice for her? Don't you think that the guy may eventually leave her for an Anambra Lady?
Thanks IGBOs are unique. They are the most disliked in this country but they can't be neglected.Igbos(Anambra) hold their tradition and culture in high esteen. Most towns if not all have what is called AJA ANI.The AJA ANI is like the god of the land and it abhors any evil. Some tribes don't have regard/neglect somethings which Aanmbra pple hold in high esteem.like some tribes don't see anything wrong in somebody that is married and the woman will still be having affairs outside, some tribes their Lady can give birth to many men as she wish.Anambra pple have big respect for marriage institution and regard for women. Its on record that Igbo men always take good care of their homes.Pls all relationship must not end up in marriage and as you are generalising its not true that Anambra pple don't marry outside their tribe.Anambra are educated and rich pple and they travel a lot. They equally like good things in life, they inter marry with the pple that are good to them and can contribute to their success in life. |

Politics › What Umar Abubakar(phd)said About Gen.buhari Certificate Sandal by debulle(op): 9:20am On Jan 28, 2015 |
Saturday, 24 January 2015 This certificate scandal of Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has really opened the eyes of many. Initially, some of us in the north thought that Goodluck Jonathan in his desperate move to remain in power beyond 2015 wants to use this certificate issue to shut out Buhari. But from every indication, the opposite is the case. It's an understatement to say that I'm ashamed of being a Muslim and be supporting Buhari. Islam is not about lies and evil. Islam is a true religion based on peace and unity. For over a month, Buhari is yet to provide his certificate and remove the shame he has painted on us, his die-hard supporters. I mean, how difficult is it for Buhari to instruct WAEC to send a copy of his certificate to INEC, not to Premium Times? Is this so difficult? He doesn't need to travel to do this. The time he used in Press Conference is the same opportunity he would tell WAEC to kindly send his certificate to INEC. By so doing, the whole world would know the truth about this. Organizing a Press Conference with the aim to release a shabbily prepared Statement of Result is not ideal, especially when the CERTIFICATE is there with WAEC. Or is the Statement of Result more valuable than the CERTIFICATE? For 2 days now, I have thought about everything, I held Buhari at high esteemed thinking that he was being victimized by the PDP, but I was wrong. I have come to a solid conclusion that he has been lying to us, his ardent supporters. I am ashamed to say this, but I must say it. I must describe Buhari in 6 words: 1. FRAUD he entered the army without any certificate but rose to the rank of Maj-General taking salaries and pensions which he didn't merit. 2. COUPIST he was the arrowhead in ousting Gowon in 1976 as well as Shagari in 1983. 3. LOOTER I now believe the $2 billion in midland bank Fela sang about. 4. BIGOT He jailed politicians that are not from his ethnic group or how could one explain why Shagari wasn't jailed, but Ekwueme was. He feels so proud that he executed 76% of PTF projects in the north, neglecting even our Muslim brothers and sisters in the Southwest. 5. LIAR He maintains that Abacha didn't steal, even as Abacha's loot were been returned by the banks, just because he followed Abacha and looted Nigeria dry. He claims to have N1m in his bank account, yet his children are in the UK schooling where millions of naira are paid as Tuition fees. 6. FORGER this one is causing me depression. I can't believe that Buhari has no single certificate, instead of him to open up, he went and forged one. We have no option than to stick with Jonathan till 2019. Buhari has messed us up walahi! |

Why so much noise about this election? My brothers and sisters politicians are at it again, they seem to have remembered the poor masses that elected them that they suppose to represent. If they truely mean to represent the poor people in the society why are they heating up the polity, why arm tugs for campaign. They seem not to tell the masses what they will do but only interested in attacking the other party/opponent. Hope we have electoral umpire? Hope there is suppose to be ruleS and regulations that will govern the elections. And I think time table for the election is one,age bracket that can contest, qualifications one is required to have? Why is it hard for our politicians to tender those papers,if they have the interest of the masses at heart they shouldn't wait so long to clear the air on anything that is required of them for the service they are about to render.Or are some politians above the laws of the land. For Nigeria to move forward we must stick to the rules and no shifting of goal post in the middle of a football match.NIGERIA BELONG TO ALL OF US,LONG LIVE NIGERIA. |

Horus: Eko Atlantic City showcases first street light
Monday, 22 December 2014 00:00
Written by Tunde Alao
THE city carved out of the Atlantic ocean has started to take shape, as the first residential and commercial tower blocks under construction can now be clearly seen in the light of day from Ahmadu Bello Way on Victoria Island and the Marina on Lagos Island. Recently, another brave move was made by developers, with the launch of a new facility, known as LED Light, which the promoters described as the best technology in modern day streetlight. The lighting system is installed in one of the street in the Atlantic City, where road construction has reach an appreciable stage called Eko Boulevard.
Conducting Journalists around the first phase of the infrastructure last week, the Managing director of South Energyx Nigeria Limited, the developer of the new city, Mr. David Frame said the facility is to herald a new dawn in Eko Atlantic, thus, bring into light, huge construction work going on and that are not visible to those who have never visited the site. “But now there is something new to see at nighttime after a section of new road in the emerging city was illuminated by streetlights. Eko Atlantic’s road system is rolling out more and more each day but it is the first time any of the internal city routes have been lit”, said Frame.
https://newtelegraphonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Eko-Atlantic.png First street lights in Eko Atlantic (LED Light)
According to Frame, the first row of lights along Eko Boulevard, a paved eight-lane thoroughfare that is over a mile long and is the spine of the Business District, will be extended in the New Year as the developers forge ahead with infrastructure development. “Presently, concrete block paved roads, spacious sidewalks and kerbs are being built in the first and second phases of developing the Eko Atlantic city. The project development area is now so large and progressing so quickly that it won’t be long before we need internal road signs to drive around,” said Frame.
To date 10 per cent of Eko Atlantic’s roads in Phase I and II are paved while 32 per cent have stone-base in place providing access to motor vehicles, while about 25 per cent of the roads are defined with kerb lines. Besides, 56 per cent of storm water drainage has been installed along with 34 per cent of what he described as “state-of-the-art communications”, while 50 per cent of the sewage distribution network and 36 per cent of the water supply network are already completed.
“We are very satisfied that the street lighting has come on as this represents another important step in the successful development of Eko Atlantic,’ said Frame, who hinted that every infrastructure, facilities and amenities in the city are being followed to the letter. “All what our consultant, Messrs Dar Handasah consulting engineering put in place is to ensure that the city will meet all the mission and vision of the new city.
”For those still in the dark about what Eko Atlantic City is about, the planned city is being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean along the Lagos Bar Beach. It is expected that when completed, the new island will be home to about 400,000 residents, with a daily flow of 250,000 commuters. Adjacent to Victoria Island, Eko Atlantic is being touted by its proponents - South Energyx Nigeria Ltd, a subsidiary of the Chagoury group specifically created to undertake the development as the next generation of property in Africa, which will in turn transform Lagos into the economic hub of the mother continent.

Politics › Re: Synagogue: Weapon Investigator Says Collapsed Building Was Attacked by debulle: 2:10pm On Dec 23, 2014 |
PhockPhockMan: A 37-year-old weapon researcher and graduate of Chemistry from the University of Maiduguri, Mr. Biedomo Iguniewei, has said that the collapsed six-storey building within the premises of the Synagogue Church for All Nations could have been felled with a high energy infrasonic radiation.
Iguniewei on Monday told the coroner probing the circumstances surrounding the September 12 tragedy that he was in a position to reach such a conclusion based on his work experience with the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria, where he said he had worked for six years.
He said the aircraft that reportedly hovered above the church shortly before the building came down could have fired infrasonic radiation weapons at the building.
The witness described himself as an independent consultant with specific interest in explosives and weapon research and that he is currently a post-graduate student of Explosives and Material Science at the Nigerian Defence Academy.
No fewer than 116 persons, mostly South Africans on pilgrimage to SCOAN, reportedly died in the incident.
The witness said that due to his background and research experience in explosives and military weapons, he took personal interest in the collapsed building and had consequently visited the site of the collapsed structure all the way from Kaduna with a view to carrying out a research and publishing a paper.
“I was worried when I heard them talking of controlled demolition. And from the video that I watched, I started asking myself: What could have led to the building crumbling in near vertical fall?” Iguniewei said.
Iguniewei said that after eliminating all the other possible options, he came to the conclusion that the building could possibly have been fired upon with infrasonic radiations.
According to Iguniewei, an infrasound is a type of sound measuring below 20Hz, which is below what the normal human ear could detect.
He said, “The striking thing about infrasound is that you cannot hear it and you cannot see it but it causes remarkable vibrations when used as a weapon.
“Those of us who work with the security know that weapons are produced and they are always looking for where to test them.
“I am of the opinion that what happened that day, especially with the strange plane-like objects seen in the video, was that an infrasonic radiation was fired upon the building; and if you observe, you will discover that it took about 30 minutes for the building to come down.”
He added, “It is important for this court to be aware of this option but why it could have been used here is another matter entirely.
“But since I have been pondering on why a building would collapse the way this one did, this is the most plausible explanation for me.”
The witness said it had become important to consider the option of infrasonic radiation, especially with the repeated movement of the aircraft, which was said to have repeatedly passed over the collapsed building.
“That plane-like object flew close to the building, and that is all that is needed for the infrasonic radiation to reach the building. As far as I am concerned, the repeated overpass of the plane-like object is to ensure that the building received enough dose of the radiation sufficient to bring it down.
“Engineers generally believe that a structure would fail due to bad foundation and bad materials but if you go there now the foundation pillars are still very intact. My position is that the building weakened from the top,” Iguniewei insisted.
When asked what would be seen as the evidence in the aftermath of an infrasonic attack on a building, the witness said there would be no material evidence because the radiation neither generated heat nor resulted in burning or charring.
He said, “The bomb expert who is looking for chemical residue will not see anything like a by-product and of course there is no charring because all that the radiation does is to cause a vibration of the atoms from their position resulting in the emission of electrons.”
Meanwhile the suit filed by the founder of SCOAN, Prophet T.B. Joshua, to challenge his invitation to testify at the inquest was stalled on Monday.
The suit could not be heard as the defence counsel told the court that he had only just been served on Monday morning with a further affidavit filed by SCOAN.
Justice Lateefa Okunnu consequently adjourned till January 12, 2015.
