The fact is that the building of Ports and their subsequent management have always been on the exclusive lists. If that has been removed from the exclusive list recently, you still have to get permissions from the federal government to do such projects.

The federal government will conduct all the studies and certify such ports before they become operational. And it is the same federal government that will staff the whole place with customs officers and other auxiliary staffs..

Policies as it regards port charges.., or as it regards where certain ships can duck or where certain goods can be imported from, are all made by the federal government. So even if the Cross Rivers state government decides today to build a port, the federal government can decide that say, all clothing/medical imports must come from lagos ports. There is nothing Calabar can do about that.

These are the issues bedevelling eastern ports and these issue started after the war. Let these petty attempts to make it look like this is a problem of the eastern governors stop. It is not.
