mannet: I don't Trust the Nigerian Police at all, these guys might just arrest innocent citizens or common street criminals and torture them to confess been part of the robbery gangs. Nigerian police are not that sophisticated to root out those robbers, imagine the statement where they said the robbers were escaping through ikoyi bridge. But we all know that from initial reports the robers came through the waters and escape via the water in a speed boat. Please let them carryout proper investigation before punishing innocent people or street miscreants. Fear Naija police. my thought as well |

Mynd44: Does the price they pay come close to how much it cost to rub your generator everyday for a month?
Imagine yo spend even if it is 300 naira a night to power your generator in a flat for 4 hours each day. Remember you have tk switch off your refrigerator and not use your air-condition and also limited to about 4 hours while you also pay PHCN 1,200 for that month. That amounts to about 10,200 each month. I can bet the residents don't spend that much. Bros its much more than 10k per month, not even 30k but the residents enjoys the services, you can on your AC(s) or anything 24/7.....na your money go determine. but anyway, na upper-middle class/ the rich estate em be sha......moeny is good. |

Mynd44: This has been what Osinbajo has been proposing all these while. To be honest, we Nigerians don't really know the exact issue with power generation and the National grid.
If Nigeria generates anything more that 7,500MW and feeds it to the grid, everything is going to come down as our distribution lines cannot take that much power. We don't not have the facilities so building huge power plants is not the way.
What we can do is to generate the power in bits. As Osinbajo have said, generate power when it will be consumed so we don't spend too much time and money on distribution. Each Local government or LCDA depending on the consumption. Perhaps even a locality can come together to have a 10MW plant for that area and they are good to go.
To keep building huge plants and hoping to connect then to the grid is a waste that has proven to be the way not to go.
With this bit by bit module, each locality can look at what they have and use it to generate power, gas in most places, some can use renewable power especially in the North where there are huge opportunities for wind and solar power.
In the south, I will like to see a Badagry power plant Ltd. that wants to harness the Atlantic ocean through tidal power. At least the beaches there have not been tamed like the ones on Lagos Island so it is possible.
These bit by bit generation will culminate into something tangible but first we need legislation for it to work as right now, the power generation laws state that if you generate anything greater than 1mw, you have to connect to the grid. This is where policy, plans, entrepreneurship and dedication combination will come into play At the quoted above, i think that's whats done in an estate at lekki, friends colony estate and northern foreshore estate, i have been living there for close to 2 years now and there has never been power failure, thou it comes at a very high rate (money wise). I think influential neighborhoods coming together and thinking of how to generate their own power is another way to go in this country. |

Rhemmymatician: Believe it or not this is a managerial position that is on offer, but the advert didn't say anything about getting a salary. You sorta own the truck (not completely o, ole, be patient first) you have to find a driver, you have to pay the driver. When he starts work you are basically his manager, until his odometer hits 400,000kms and then voila! You're the owner of a real life truck (trailer + tractor)..... sounds good eh? but, the target is 400,000kms. That is like 275 trips from lagos to Abuja and back. And moreover they have 7000 trucks plus current fleet, so don't expect your truck to load every 5 days. Plus, by the time your truck hits 400,000kms considering the heavy load it will be carrying, it will be a heavy headache for you to manage. I'm not trying to be a spoiler (cos I just might try it) but, not all that glitters is real gold, drop the rose-tinted glasses and look again before deciding to go for it. on point, guy u get d drift 100%. But i think it a good way to learn the ropes of the haulage industry in nija, cos i think if giving the opportunity, the scheme will give an intending entrepreneur the chance to rub shoulders with people in the industry and be able to learn. Now, my point will be, Whats will be the process of source of revenue of the intending applicant. The application is still confusing somehow. |

vjsmiles: [b] https://punch.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Gen-Muhammadu-Buhari-retd-360x225.jpg plaintiff in one of the suits challenging the eligibility of the President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to contest in the March 28 presidential election is to decide on whether or not to continue pursuing the case after the outcome of the poll.
Buhari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was on April 1 declared winner of the election, defeating the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Chukwunweike Okafor had filed the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/01/15, challenging Buhari’s eligibility to contest in the election before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, had on March 25, fixed April 22 for hearing in the suit.
The judge had also adjourned two other similar suits in his court till the same date.
Many had observed that the suit and other similar ones challenging Buhari’s eligibility could be more vigorously pursued if Buhari won the election or become an academic exercise if Jonathan was declared the winner of the poll.
Our correspondent on Tuesday inquired from Okafor’s counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), who is leading other Senior Advocates of Nigeria in the legal team, if his client would still be interested in pursuing the case after Buhari won the presidential election.
The question sent as a text message to Ozekhome’s phone had read in part, “Sir, I want to know if your client is interested in the eligibility suit against Buhari given the outcome of the election and President Jonathan’s decision to concede defeat?”
Ozekhome in his reply through a text message said, “I will discuss with my client.”
Apart from the suit by Okafor, there are two other suits before Justice Ademola challenging Buhari’s eligibility to contest in the election.
The plaintiffs in all the three suits want the court to declare Buhari ineligible to contest in the election on the basis of his alleged failure to submit his certificate of academic qualifications along with his Form CF001 to the Independent National Electoral Commission. MizzD: My choice -Ajimobi, the only governor I have seen perform. Probably because I spent more time in ib during his tenure than any other governor's.
My parents' choice - Ladoja... they are both pensioners, so I understand their 'beef' with Ajimobi . He has refused to pay them. . My dad in particular hates his utterances and I hear people generally do not like his wife's over-involvement in his government.
Ni oro kan, I'm still very undecided. i think the act of leaving either workers or pensioners out is becoming so much of APC governors, even thou they seems to be performing in many other areas. But, among the main rule of politics is, u must neva allow the workers under you suffer, cos they form a large voting bloc. Neglecting them is tantamount to digging ones own grave. I learn this from the 2003 episode of Mohammed Alabi Lawal in 2003 by allowing the workers in kwara state to be suffering, facing massive capital projects and that gave way to the emergence of Dr. Bukola Saraki. So Ajimobi and others should learn. Part of what may make PDP lose benue in this coming guber elections. |
