If you have followed this thread carefully, you would have benefited from my own story. Long and short of the whole issue, due to the need for a car and funds needed as detailed by my feasibility study, I delayed commencement of this investment.
However when I started, few weeks later I have to abandon the car and resorted to using Keke which was more suitable for me. And my income has been on the increase ever since.

Have you scanned? For sure, ABS fault can cause what you are experiencing. Have it fixed and see if it does not go away.

what does this mean?

Hello house. Please i need help with my ford escape 2002. A few months ago on a long journey, i noticed the od light started blinking. When i turn the car off and turn it on again, it stops but starts blinking again after about 5km drive. Then it started to shudder and slip in and out. I was able to manage it homw in limp mode.

After a lot of sensors and other things were changed, the light still continued to blink and the gear gor worse so i decided to get another transmission rather than rebuild. A few days ago, another transmission was fixed which works perfectly but then after a few minutes of driving, the od light starts blinking again.

Three gears had been fixed previously which will work and then stop working after a while. But with this gear, i insisted my mexhanic has to be the one to detach the gear from the engine at the warehouse in ladipo to avoid been given a gear that was repaired.

This new gear works perfectly but then after driving a few minutes, thw ABS light comes on then the od light starts to blink butbin this case it doesnt slip and it doesnt shudder. The car keeps moving perfectly but the light keeps blinking. When its turned off and turnwd on again, the same scenario plays out, after a few minutes, ABS comes on and od starts blinking

So please does anyone have any idea about this? Can a fault with the ABS cause the od light to blink? If not, what coúld be responsible?
I will also appreciate the xontact of any ford specialist

i use a ford escape 2002.my issue is the blinking overdrive light. I have replaced a whole lot of things but the blinking doesnt stop. I even got another transmission when the previous one started slipping. But with this new transmission, it doesnt blink on startup but after driving a few minutes. The ABS comes light comes on then it starys blinking.

The gear works well but i am concerned because the previous gear started messing up when the od light started blinking

i would have taken you up on this offer but its a long drive from my end to yours. However, i had the solenoid switch changed and my transmission worked perfectly for a short while only to resume the same issue.

Then a friend who said hw once had a similar issue suggested i check the injector switches. Apparently, there is a switch connected to the injector that works with the transmission. I had it checked and it was detected that the switch was bad. I had to buy the complete injector mouth because they wouldnt sell just the switch.

The gear worked perfectly till this morning when it resumed the same issue. I have scanned multiple times without any transmission codes. The closest to it is a P2227 code

At least now i know the transmission is fine because i didnt have any issues with it after changing the solenoid switch and the injector mouth. So what could be causing the issue to recur

before switching to "factory recommendations" I always ask clients What have you been using? And for how long have you used it? switching from 20w50 to 5 or 0w20 over night after using 20w50 for several years might render a functional (I said functional not good) engine useless.

Your issues with the white or blue smoke have nothing to do with the grade or quality of engine oil you bought, but the condition of your engine before the switch. There was a buildup of sludge in your engine which was protecting the piston oil rings from leaking oil into the combustion chamber, now you have use thin full synthetic engine oil, that has additives that will remove sludge from your engine if any. The result is what you currently have.

Solution: rebuild engine and continue to use good engine oils or replace engine, or pour 20w50 along with oil treatment and hopefully you will get some protective sludge to buy you some time.


Meanwhile on the gear issue what vehicle are we talking about?

i followed the advice on this thread and ordered for engine and transmission oil from you. Prior to this point, i have used oil npt recommended by manufacturer but i never had any problems with my cars. Then sometime ago my ford escape transmission packed which made me decide to start to stick with recommended oils.which is why i ordered the atf and engine oil from you for my usual routone maintenance. Unfortunately, my gear has started erratic shifting. The first gear change doesnt occur till rpm gets to 7000. You said i should have the solenoid switch checked which i did and nothong was wrong with them. I had it scanned as you said but there was no error code.

My engine also started emitting blue smoke after the engone oil chnage which had never happened before. Right now i dont even know what to do and honestly, i believe if i had stuck with what i was using, this might not have happened. Please if you have a solution, or if anyone else has a solution, i really need help. Thanks

house is a good investment for me especially in Nigeria that you don't have to pay property tax.

You don't recuperate your money when it comes to houses.. You could sell the house if you want your money back and still make more of the actual cost of the house.
Even if the house don't worth anything in the future which hardly is the case, the land would have appreciated.. Lands don't despericiate no matter how nasty the area.

E.g, a friend sold one of his fathers house to mtn. MTn didn't need the house but the land. Looking at the structure of the house, it doesn't worth 5million, but he sold it 45million to mtn.

House is a kind of investment you can put your mind to rest if you have it, unlike other investment where bad economy or anything could happen.

land appreciates in value but not always at a good rate. There are areas where the rate of appreciation in five yearsvis less than 5%.
A house isnt a liquid investment. You can easily turn it to cash whenever you want. It takes years for some people to be able to sell their house. I currently have up to 4 hoises my clients have for sale. Some have been on the market for three years before been assigned to me

well, my experience has taught me exactly what i stated earlier. I didnt say building a house is not a good investment, i said it isnt always a good investment. People have this notion that its the best investment ever and the safest but that isnt always the case. I havent built many houses, but having built six and currently on the seventh, i can at least say i have a little experience. For me however, its like a hobby,. I derive a certain high from converting an empty space into something else. For some people its beer, car for some and women for others, for me its small houses. But i can admit to the fact that if i had invested the funds i have used in building houses over the past 3 years in bonds or treausry bills, i would have made a good yield.

just a few pointers

A registered survey plan can never go for 35, 000naira. Perhaps it was a typograpgical error. At the least a survey plan will be done for about 100-120k. It will be good for you to ensure a proper survey plan was done, registered and lodged because thats the major thing that can enable you get a building approval.

Its good you ensure another level of casting as the DPC level. If money isnt an issue, then its better you get good professionals. I see that laterite was used for filling which isnt ideal because it swells/expands and coupled with the fact there was no chain at DPC level could lead to cracks.would have been better use some other type of sand for filling.

For borehole, better to go with submersible because of the water table in that environment. You can get a good machine in lagos so no need of importing it.

a house is not a good investment, its a good asset in most cases. In some other cases, a house will just be a liability. That doesnt mean building another house isnt good, but there has to be an analysis of other variables like how much does the individual have on ground. Sometimes its good to start a business and when it starts to grow, use profits to build another house, other times its good to build a house, collect initial rent and use to start a business. There is no "one size fits all". Sometimes you might not recoup your cost of building a house for up to 10-15 years. Thats npt even calculating for inflation so how is that a good investment?

There are lots of educational laptops designed for kids his age. I think that would benefit him more than giving him a HP laptop at his age.
