If Mr Ganduje needs help with his shoe laces, what is so scandalous about his orderly (is that what they're called?) helping him out. Many individuals, especially with a large body frame who are around 75 years old struggle to bend down to tie their shoe laces. People need to be realistic. At that age, you'll struggle to do certain things yourself. I don't see much of a scandal here. |
If the video is genuine and true, those who can should forward it to the university's administrators, and EFCC. |
Procashtips:Police all over the world exercise caution in revealing too much information, particularly at the very early stages of an investigation. That is necessary to protect potential lines of investigation, and prevent premature disclosure of the identity of petitioners especially in the current environment where disclosing information too early can put the complainants in danger of harm from baying social media youths who insist that society must operate only on their terms. If the man is charged to court, then inevitably, all the necessary information will be disclosed in court and become public knowledge. EFCC may well investigate the petitions, find that the man has committed no crime, and proceed to release him. So exercise patience. |
Nobody is above the law. The constitution did not create a special category of superior citizens called 'human rights activists', who must not be touched by the law. As for the arrested man, the investigation, and charges if any, should follow the due process of the law. That's all. |
The jungle justice mindset prevails amongst most social media youths. It is the same mindset that led to people being burnt alive in Uromi, Edo State. People just get a rush of blood to the head, and without any iota of self control, rush to conclusions. The man was not arrested inside GTB. His lawyer has said GTB was not behind his arrest. Yet, some people insist the whole country must boycott GTB. For what reason exactly ![]() And to the youths of today, there is nothing special about you that justifies your insatiable need for the rest of society to pander to your whims and caprices. No one appointed you as the moral compass of this society. Your sense of entitlement to dictate how the rest of society must live is risible. |
Be deceiving each other. We are still waiting for that your evidence Mrs Uduaghan. |
Osariemen12:During the Innoson saga, many on social media said they were closing their GTB account, and that they would destroy GTB. 3 years later, and just a few weeks ago, GTB became the first bank in Nigeria's history to declare a N1 TRILLION profit, ahead of giants like Access, and Zenith bank. And GTB is still Nigeria's biggest bank by market capitalisation. GTB is the best run bank in Nigeria. Full stop. And it has been so for more than a decade. |
lexyman:Nigeria's biggest bank by market capitalisation, and pound for pound, the most profitable bank in Nigeria is drowning? How? Nothing wey person no go hear on Nairaland o. |
I have accounts with GTB. I WILL NOT be closing the accounts. I don't know what the issues are between the man in question and the bank, but I do not follow these so-called social media 'personalities' nor am I interested in their self-serving shenanigans. |
'No votes for Tinubu in the North.in 2027' down the drain. The Emir was truly happy to see him. |
The security agencies, including even the Police, can easily trace the movement of money from the Senator to Mrs Ezekweilesi. If they want to expose her, it is an easy job. Truth is, the overwhelming majority of the adults in this country are corrupt, whether or not they regularly appear on Arise to blow grammar. |
And then people wonder why the Nigerian passport is weak, and most countries don't want Nigerians in their country. Conduct that most of the rest of the world see as terrible, some Nigerians see as clever, smart, or brave. |
Jestin:Not much but better than nothing. And if he increases it by N5000 every year until the end of his first term, Edo State minimum wage will be N90,000. This approach will be better for workers. I think many States can afford a small but increamental yearly increase rather than waiting for national.minimum wage that is set every 3 or 4 years. |
Good. How on earth can a judge make a substitive ruling in a case without hearing from either of the parties ![]() |
Big glasses again. Seems she's learning well from the Kogo Senator. Before long, we'll be hearing 'free this beautiful woman' from manipulated social media converts. |
Yesterday, I still saw properties listed for rent in dollars. The way Nigerians sabotage themselves is shocking. |
For Starlink Global, owned by an individual, to be exporting nearly as much as Indorama, is extraordinary. What a great business the man runs. |
malali:But isn't a fundamental part of the problem the fact that the Police, EFCC and other crime prevention organisations are also enmeshed in some degree of corruption. Also, Teachers, mechanics, Professors, tailors, nurses, lawyers, surveyors, name it. There is corruption everywhere. What makes a corrupt politician more deserving of arrest than a tailor you give 5 yards to but hides 1.5 yards for himself, and sows you an attire that is 1 size smaller than your normal size? If you insist that all corrupt politicians must be arrested. I agree, but I also want all corrupt people, including that tailor to be arrested. But that's not going to happen until we have enough prisons to accommodate at least 50 million manifestly corrupt Nigerians ![]() So it is inevitable that some thieves, including allegedly corrupt politicians will escape. The system simply can't handle the scale of the corruption in the society. |
malali:Most police investigations are based on a degree of speculation. Police can arrest you if it has a reasonable cause to believe that you're connected to an alleged crime. If the investigation establishes that the arrestee is not connected to the crime, then the arrestee is released. What's important is for the Police not to abuse the 'reasonable cause' basis for initiating or embarking on an arrest. As for Mr Yahya Bello, he underwent a police investigation, and his case is proceeding in court. The Nigerian constitution permits him to 'walk free' - as you put, until and if the court finds him guilty. |
EFCC publishing her photograph and declaring her wanted like a common criminal must have shocked her and left her with no choice than to return to the country. It is not easy or desirable to live in most foreign countries if you have been declared wanted as she was. Unless you go underground hiding, but for how long, particularly for a person that claims to run legitimate businesses. All those businesses would have run aground if she went into hiding. Returning was her best option. |
The Governor becomes the leader. This will have been agreed with APC HQ in Abuja before the Governor decamped. |
Whatever. The fraudulent subsidy is gone. That's what's important. |
Abagworo:Many are hearing about it for the first time. Besides, 25th March is only 4 weeks ago. |
Probably intimidation before 2027. The sudden rise in the number of these incidents in recent months seems eerily similar to what happened under Mr Jonathan in the 2 years before the 2015 elections. |
'...he warned that the North will not easily be divided...' Which of the North? 'North North' or 'North Middle'. The middle belt (North Middle) say they're not part of you, and will refuse to be intimidated into voting according to your usual dictate. |
This from the ethnic jingoist who told us gleefully in the period leading to the APC primaries that his sources (no doubt of Northern origin) in Aso Rock assured him that under no circumstances would Mr Tinubu be 'allowed' to win the primaries let alone become President. He was so arrogantly cocksure Mr Tinubu would not be allowed to win. He and his likes in the last administration tried their best, yet the man won. Ever since, instead of hiding his head in shame, he has continued to write wailing missives under the pretence of caring about Nigeria. In reality, Mr Kperogi only cares about a Nigeria where the North dictates, orchestrates, and dominate. Do not be deceived by him. |
Tradepunter2:I only expressed my personal views focusing on my personal preference. I did not advocate for or against travelling or living abroad. Yet, you came out, jumped into the ring, fists raised and started throwing punches into thin air. Over what na. So I shouldn't be allowed to express my personal preference and experience. Intolerance and impatience, Very Nigerian, I guess. |
Nigerians are some of the most despised people on earth. That's the truth, and it is not entirely without justification. That said, I don't know where I kept my British passport, and I havent bothered to check in years. Last time I was in London, I arrived on a Friday and left on Monday. I couldn't wait to be back in this our 'terrible' Nigeria. I don't even hate the UK. I just have zero interest in living in a foreign country. I am so much content being at 'home'. Not that Nigeria is great. Infact, it is terrible is certain respects. But strangely, being in Nigeria gives me a mental satisfaction that no other country on earth gives me. I can't truly explain the feeling. |
Only God knows how much someone like Ooni spends on a monthly basis. When I think of the monthly expenses of my modest self, Ooni's monthly expenses will be mouth watering. How does he cope Each wife probably needs N5m or more per month in maintenance.I don't think the amount he gets from the State/local government monthly can cover 20% of what he spends. Rolls Royces, Private jets, Helicopters, best hotels, entourage, high-maintenance wives, best schools for children etc To be Ooni no be small thing o. |
According to this report, the Labour Party in that State 'endorsed the defection'. How can a Party endorse a defection of its member to another party. Abi, did I read the report wrongly? No be small thing o. |
People should understand that no APC Northern Governor going for 2nd term will risk not supporting the President. Governors will think of their personal interest before any 'Northern' Agenda. As an APC Governor in the North, it will be too risky to tell voters to vote against APC in the Presidential election, and vote APC in Governorship election. The Northern PDP Governors that did that against Mr Jonathan were swept away from office alongside Mr Jonathan. Many of them lost power forever. Current Northern APC Governors going for 2nd term will have learnt from that episode. They will not carry 'Northern Agenda' for head and jeopardise their own interest. |
