I don't have any tangible knowledge about Messrs Obasanjo and Yaradua's administrations.

Another major reform that previous Presidents ran away from.

This matter may still end up in court.

That will cause PDP a lot of headache since a lot of their plans for 2027 will have to be put on hold until certain court cases are resolved.

In my Church, we serve breakfast every Sunday. You can pop in to eat whether or not you're a member.

People from the area come in to eat, with no questions asked.

And my Chuch has very modest finances. None of our Pastors is rich, and only 2 young Pastors with young families are paid salaries. Small salaries self.

What we contribute on Sundays can barely finance the Church and take care of the welfare for members who need help.

But we like our Church like that. We are like a family, and there is zero focus on money.

It is very wrong to say all Pastors are corrupt or use churches as a business.

I can't speak for all regions, but elections in places like Ondo, Ogun, and may be Ekiti are heavily influenced by cash on election day. He who pays win.

Most ordinary voters in those states don't carry party allegiance on their head like you find in many other states. Majority of them in the aforementioned states will be influenced on election day by who pays the most.

Unfortunate as that is, the reality is that APC will probably outspend PDP or any other party by a factor of 2 in those 3 states.

Another problem for Mr Atiku is that, even a PDP state like Oyo, the Governor that is opposed to the presidency going to the North in 2027 will not spend a dime to support Mr Atiku whichever party he uses.

From Lagos to Ondo, I dont think Mr Atiku will get a lot of votes from the SW.

The Attorney General did a great job with local government autonomy. Now, today's great news.

Would it be better to put someone in that position just to satisfy ethnic balance? We saw how some of the previous Attorney Generals compromised the interest of the country.

All Presidents must be given the free hand to fill the most important positions in their governments based on merit, not tribal origin. Other positions can be spread around for ethnic balance.

In any case, the Attorney General is from the North.

The people of Ondo and I guess Ekiti have zero link to Oyo.

Most trace their origin to Ile Ife.

Their Kings accept the Ooni's status. Not Alaafin.

Also, you can’t force yourself to be THE leader. Most Yoruba Kings and people see the Ooni as occupying a uniquely special position.

Can Alaafin call Ondo or Ekiti monarchs for a meeting?

Honestly some company's legal team are completely useless that they are getting paid for being useless, can't even Provide basic legal advice to their clients. Also, the habits of individuals, political parties and organisations to ignore court orders will keep landing them in more trouble. Fidelity bank just walked into a trap by themselves which was avoidable. How would they get out this hole, God help them. Maybe Peter Obi can press his network and do something.

Most clients prefer to keep fighting and kick the can of responsibility down the road, instead of settling, particularly if there is a high likelihood that they may lose a case.

Any lawyer that tries to advise an adamant client that they should consider early settlement is often cast as not being a good lawyer and faces being replaced.

In this particular case, it seems Fidelity Bank had an opportunity to settle the matter after they lost at the High Court, but they didn't.

Now and and again, I still go back to listen to the famous and now historical 'Emilokan' speech to remind myself of the importance of self belief in my professional and business circles.

When you tell a sitting President, it is my turn, and there is nothing you can do about it, and you make it happen. It is incredible.

As far as I am concerned, that Emilokan speech is an epochal political speech in the history of Nigeria. It will never be forgotten.

They need to put a funding target over a specific time frame. Money is the key.

A target to raise 10 billion dollars over 7 years for regional development is achievable.

Lagos will need to contribute at least 40% of the funding.

A Diaspora Bond backed by guarantees from the 6 state govts can raise $1 billion over 7 years.

A similar bond for local investors can raise another $1.5 billion

Annual mandatory contributions by each of the other 5 states with contribution size reflecting the size of each state's economy can raise another $1.5 billion.

The rest can be raised through other sources.

Failure to pay can't lead to jail.

You only start paying back once you have been employed for at least 2 years. You dont have to pay back during any period when you are unemployed. Even when you have a job, the amount you pay back per month is a small fraction of your salary.

In addition to the government paying your school fees directly to your university (the loan), there is also N20,000 per month FREE cash transfer to each NELFUND recipient. This is entirely free, the student doesn't have to pay back, and it is paid into the student's bank account every month of the year whether or not they are on holiday.

As a result of this initiative, the days of students from poor backgrounds not being able to go to university because their parents can't afford it are now gone.

This is one of the most impactful initiatives of any Nigerian government of the last 20 to 30 years.

But as usual, many Nigerians from the South turn their noses up at this wonderful program.

Just so you know, the loan is paid directly to the institution to cover tution fee.

In addition, each student applicant receives FREE (non repayable) N20,000 monthly maintenance payment every month of the year, whether or not the school is on holiday.

This is a fantastic initiative. If it was introduced in Ghana, Nigerians will be complaining bitterly and say, God, why was I born in Nigeria. Yet, because it was introduced by a government they do not like, they want nothing to do with it. Unbelievable.

I told a family member whose son is at a University, he showed no interest. Yet, his boy, a very brilliant chap, wears tattered clothes, and rubber slippers at school, and goes without food. This is totally avoidable, yet the father is not interested. He is a PDP supporter by the way - I don't know if that has anything to do with his decision.

I think it is probably because of the word 'loan.'

There may be one or two other institutions in the State whose students qualify to apply for the loan.

I notice also that the report is of 'applicants', rather than 'recipients'.

So, it could be that many of those who wrote JAMB, chose Bornu Universities, applied for the loan, but who did not secure admission were captured in the data. If they are captured in this data, that may explain the 42,000 figure.

I read the news about Emefiele's seized 750 houses on nairaland this evening, and noticed the Minister of Housing mentioned 'Renewed Hope Homes'. Just out of curiosity, I searched it on google, and Lo and behold there are actually new homes being constructed in several states which are already available for sale for cash, or with a government loan of just 7%!. Compare that to a commercial bank mortgage that is more than 30%.

The website functions excellently and prices are much cheaper than the equivalent houses in the open market.

Yet, most Southerners, (including me until today) are not aware of these opportunities.
