Once you start collecting taxes you have to keep it flowing and to keep it flowing you must tend to the economy and you will do it whether or not you are corrupt. Once you have a hundred billion dollars budget and you have employed people and etc you can't go back to fifty billion

so the government cannot give us basic amenities. They can't give regular electricity, good roads and a better healthcare. And you want us to continue paying more and more tax.

I don't support the sales tax on petrol. It is the states that should buckle up on income tax. Then minimum wage should be high enough to bear tax and it should be enforced on all employers. The money should be used for free healthcare education and etc. If a country will move forward half of the GDP must be taken as taxes. No income should be tax free. How do you help the common people if they don't pay tax?

how is this government helping us. Didn't you read. The country that this guy is, he is paying 25 percent of his salary for tax and the govt is paying his children school fees and still pay the children. Free healthcare. Free rent.

It would be lower,though it can go as low as 10,000 from 20k. If you have life assurance policy, contributory pension, National Housing Fund, NHIS ,then there would be a significant reduction in amount payable

I had an argument with a guy here in nl, and he said that the new tax law will bring relief. That those of us that are paying tax now, will be paying less amount for tax when this new tax law is in effect from jan 2026.
So I want to ask, will this new tax law make us pay less than we are currently paying. Because that is what they are to argue. That we would be paying less when the new law takes effect. Will that be the case. I am asking because the tinubu I know will give to take more from you. We that are in Lagos know this about him.

Go and get a copy of the tax law, check the tax band for personal income tax, it imposes less tax than the present one. Take for instance, anybody that earns N360k or less per annum is presently exempted from tax but by January 2026,any salary earner that earns 800k or less per annum would be totally exempted.

The amount deductible would be lesser than what is being deducted at the moment. Isn't it a relief? Tax payment is a civic responsibility .
Finance Act 2020 is still operational at the moment,the 2025 Tax Act overrides it by January 2026
