EEA1: Sorry about not replying you. The owner kept the papers including the custom duties and I've been busy attending to the numerous people who actually come to inspect everyday including other cars and other personal engagements. Don't take it personally. Again I apologize.
Oluwamuyeewa: E be like say people hate me for this nairaland o
No comment!
With all the 'over numerous" cars, both Toks and Naija-used, advertised at the auto section with pictures, office address and contact numbers; you expect a serious dealer to come and respond to your single post!
If you had said #200k car, perhaps you might get a response but with the amount you claim to have! Oga do your research at the auto section and buy any car of your choice.
(1) Would he had done it for a fellow man (2) It was unethical of you to not only take but display the picture as well as reveal his identity...against his will.
....Should have just spread the goodness message.
Well...off to the other room.
1) Sir, would you give up your sit for a fellow man, who is neither sick, handicap or old?
I believe the team would still have stopped to help if it were to be a man, esp at that late hour of the day.
The officer doesn't want to be seen looking for cheap popularity or hype for himself and the NPF hence he refused to gladly pose for a pic.
2) I don't anything is wrong in revealing a good Samaritan's identity, some NL would be screaming "picture or I don't believe it".
Whomever has done either good or bad should be exposed.
Dakuku no need appear in court jere, he just needs to get their own judge that will give a perpertual restraining order against Odili from ever suing him simple.
mfm04622: When I want to change lane, I put on my trafficator and WAIT till either the road is FREE or the car on the lane permit me to move in his front! Any car already on the lane I want to move to has right of way. I must defer to them!
mfm04622: Oga, forget long English! You have no right changing Lane without warning! If you do get hit, it is YOUR fault. Simple! So the driver going on in his lane is supposed to be the Superman scanning his front, back and sides while any fool can jump in his front?
Yes, a driver is "supposed to be the Superman scanning his front, back and sides" which even the OP inadvertently alluded to by noticing " taxi man who made an abrupt turn into the road........., the lady swiftly turned back".
Wouldn't it had been a different story if the OP had immediately reduced his speed knowing a fellow road-user might be in distress.
2 or even 3 wrongs don't make a right, the taxi-man did wrong, the woman did wrong, must the OP also (esp after witnessing and narrating all he saw vividly).
We will not be here if the OP had acted instinctively and he won't have lost man-hours and money, and dents his car.
The OP could have been the SUPERHERO if had reduced his speed, am sure the woman (and his conscience) would even thank him for that.
YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE VIDEO YET RIGHT? PLS DO SEE IT.
Originalsly: Yes... I read the story... and understood it very well. The OP would be at fault. Why? He saw the taxi suddenly pulling out into the path of the Honda. A defensive driver at that instance would anticipate the Honda would take evasive action and move over to the fast lane....which the lady did. At the same instant Op...if he were a defensive driver... should have anticipated the Honda would swerve into his lane..the fast lane. His options.... either brake to avoid the Honda...or change lane. From his story... he still believes the Honda had no business in his clear fast lane. When the Honda got in the lane is when he applied the brakes... that was too late... and driving too fast on the wet road did not help. To smash the car flush from the back shows little was done in time to avoid the accident or he was over speeding. The back of the Honda should never have been hit.The lady avoided the taxi...same situation...the taxi suddenly pulling into her lane... couldn't he then avoid her in his lane?
deltateam: Dont come here and blow yeye grammar. Nigeria insurance company is poo just like its pension service. If you are renewing your Vehicle licence you pay for insurance too.
In a sensible country this should be cover enough but unfortunately Nigeria is a zoo.
It's just like paying for your transcript during clearance only to pay again for it when you require it. Bunch of assholes.
I am sorry if any insurance and/or pension compan(ies) has wronged you, pls report to NAICOM and PENCOM respectively, and also bring it here to name&shame the particular firm with evidence. Of course, bad eggs might exists that's why I used the word reputable.
Meanwhile, payment for renewal of vehicle license no be same as insurance abeg nau.
On a lighter note, pls what part of the zoo do you reside ; our jungle will mature if and when we all start acting right, call to order when you feel someone or an institution is wrong.
EyeofHorus: OP is not at fault. A speed lane is suppose to have a free traffic flow as long as it's a straight road. I once hit a man just like the op did. Next time, he will never run into speed lane again. One side of his trunk with chassis n one door destroyed. I paid nothing at all. I'm sure he will never try it again.
ogocology: Bros don't mind them. Nairaland is full of folks who love to judge. According to the post, he wasn't liable. I remember one morning when a bike man rubbed all the flesh on his left leg into oblivion by grinding himself from my front signal light to the rear. His bike was toast but the leg was worse. I had the front left and rear lights broken as well as a nasty scratch along the whole left side of that lovely '01 Camry. The left mirror was also missing. At first, everyone knew it was his fault. 10 minutes later, 'new' judges appeared. One look at the guy's leg and they started screaming that I must take the guy to the hospital first, that that was the position of 'the law'. I calmly scanned the area for my mirror, found it and dared anyone who thinks its my fault to stand in my way. I spent over 30k on lights and paint job to fix the car. I later learned the bike man hurried away as soon as I left
"One side of his trunk with chassis n one door destroyed"
"I had the front left and rear lights broken as well as a nasty scratch along the whole left side of that lovely '01 Camry"
"before you could have hit her from behind and not her hitting your side, then she was totally in front of you"
"until I Emmys her from behind"
Pls juxtapose the above quoted statements.
Can you say "side of a trunk and one door" with "front left and rear lights plus scratch along whole left side" same as "behind"; pls let's understand statements before jumping to conclusions.
The Facts (or statements) before us are different from what your stories are.
ZIMDRILL: i might be wrong becoz i cant clearly get the picture in my how the situation was but having a clear road ahead still doesnt mean you had the right to overtake what if there was danger from the left or right during overtaking though the road ahead is clear in UK they introduced what is called hazard perception many people here they would fail, it test you to dangers that might in the road even when you have the right of way and when your still driving normal its about about anticipating dangers and making right decision to avoid them in time
mfm04622: Oga, did you read the story at all? 1) She was on the SLOW Lane. 2) without warning, she moved into the fast lane from nearly stationary position.
The OP was not liable. All what you wrote is okay for you car already in front of you since you are required to keep adequate distance to enable you stop without hitting the car in front. For any car that just zoomed into your front, you are NOT liable. Simple. Nobody expect you to start calculating for cars on different lanes than yours. You have priority and right of way on your lane over any other car.
Big Oga, I want to believe you have not seen the video above.
Every road user has to anticipate (calculate make I use ur word) other cars and road users (be it biker, pedestrian -including a KID who might jaywalk though illegal); reason why 100% concentration is required while handling the wheel, no handling with gadgets, eating (if our govt were to be serious, they should be thinking of adding talking to the list with the way Nigerian drive! )
How would you feel if a faster car than yours zooooooooms off beside you when you get to change lane to your so-labelled SLOW lane? The fast car owner too can claim no car in front of him right?
Pls lets consider other road-users and reduce the accidents on our road. Most accidents are caused by impatience and disregard for others with our "i-own-the-road" mentality.
Safe and defensive driving reduces accidents and damage to our cars which invariably affects our pockets.
laivwire: I had an early morning trip about a month ago so I set out of the house around 6am. It was still a little dark and there were light showers. I eased out of my area into the highway and cruised t about 60kmph on the fast lane.
Scene of accident A woman wanted to turn off from the slow lane into a roadside church but was obstructed by a taxi man who made an abrupt turn into the road after picking a passenger. Through instinct or whatever, the lady swiftly turned back and right into the fast lane which was a clear road from where I was coming from. I slammed o. The brakes but the short time difference, distance and slippery road just had my truck screeching until I Emmys her from behind. I was driving a Hilux and both headlamps and fender got smashed on impact while her Honda had no boot again. She came out apologizing for her error but 30 mins later the story had changed to me be being guilty cos I hit her from behind. These allegations were by new passers by who didn't witness the incident. Eventually I had to part with 30k to fix her car and walk away with my damages.
Which rule states that as long as you hit from behind you're guilty no matter the circumstances? I need clarity please
Its rightly so because of some reasons:
- you are expected to be able to bring your car to a halt immediately in case of emergency, meaning you should drive cautiously (at reasonable speed limit) even if on a highway.
- you are expected to anticipate and appreciate other road users would be using the road hence be cautious.
- before you could have hit her from behind and not her hitting your side, then she was totally in front of you.
In all, road users should have in mind that other road users are either not concentrating or inexperienced (my take).
Finally, subscribe to a Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance from a reputable insurance company, its affordable (max 4% of car value) and covers both your vehicle and the other party and doesn't even penalise for negligence in Nigeria as of now. So take advantage especially in this recession period.
samdollas2004: You surely do know the chilled zobo drink Quenches Thirst, do you?
Have you ever drank zobo drink when very cold? If not, you have just got to try it out. This amazing hibiscus tea can be drunk cold or hot. When iced, the drink is known to satiate thirst quite effectively. It is often recommended as an alternative to artificially made commercial "sport drinks" that are marketed to physically active individuals. Hibiscus tea has the ability to cool the body. This benefit is probably associated with the diuretic properties of hibiscus, a property that helps in the excretion of excess fluids from the body.
Helps in Weight Loss Hibiscus drink have been found to help in weight loss. A person drinking hibiscus drink may prevent the absorption of carbohydrates and thus not gain excess weight.
Hibiscus drink have also been found to have antihypertensive properties. Researches have found that hibiscus drink contains significant amount of ascorbic acid in addition to 1.145 g of protein, 2.61 g of fat, 12.0 g of fiber, 1,263 mg of calcium, 273.2 mg of phosphorus, 8.98 mg of iron, 0.029 mg of carotene, 0.117 mg of thiamine, 0.277 mg of riboflavin and 3.765 m of niacin. Considering all these nutritional content of hibiscus drink, it can be said that hibiscus tea can serve as an excellent food and help boost the immune system.
There is no clinical evidence on which dosage recommendations can be based. Roselle is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for consumption. A typical dose as a drink is 1.5 g.
genny2kuk: There's no doubt that issues like this happen, however, they are isolated cases and never the norm.
I'm a merchant on Dealdey and I can say that they try as much as possible to vet their merchants and whatever they sell on Dealdey.
The issue is from the merchant and if you do not get satisfactory response, you can mail Dealdey with the details of the deal requesting for your money. Though it might not be immediate, you will get your refund.
You can also take a further step by commenting and rating the merchant so others can benefit from your experience.
While I agree with you that not all merchants are dubious, the burden of proof is on DealDey as the middleman and arranger (for a fee) to confirm the genuineness or otherwise of any info they put to the public arena. Or do they want to wait until all Nigerians complain before they take action like OLX!
Can i ask if any SLA or MOU was executed between DealDey and merchants?
That aside, I know for a fact that DealDey advertises what they have not confirmed is available. They keep your money in their books too long if they ever get to refund.
I also know DealDey put up deals NOT AVAILABLE so cant be any merchants fault but totally DealDey's.
I also know for a fact that DealDey don't care about their customers; they neither pick calls nor reply emails timely. And when they reply, their responses are often off-point.
Let me tell you how it plays out: You make a purchase, DealDey sends you a coupon with supposed merchant's contact number, you try contacting merchant and number unreachable. You try reaching DealDey customer care, also unreachable. You send email to DealDey and you get a response day(s) after expiration of coupon below:
QUOTE "Moses, Mar 29, 10:00: Good day ******,
Thank you for contacting us and we apologise for the delayed response.
Kindly be informed that the aforementioned coupon expired on the 22/03/2016 as unused Coupons after this date will not be honoured/refunded by Merchant/DealDey.
All inconvenience dully regretted.
Thank you.
Warm regards, Customer Support
Helpline ---- 01-4609950" UNQUOTE.
Some "merchants" are not even aware of deals/products advertised on the website!
DealDey doesn't pay merchants until coupon are redeemed by the merchants so all un-used (duped) coupons money are for DealDey.
People in position of authority with access to info should be mindful of their utterance. The FRSC boss has just joined the IG of Police to make un-enforceable & un-imaginably directives without taking into consideration of the peculiarity and reality (economic, "fantastically corrupt", ineptitude).
No tyre manufacturing plant in Nigeria, SON ineffective so dumping of fake substandard products is in high order, and the fake importers are selling at exorbitant prices (high interest rate, multiple and nonsensical taxation often illegal).
I bought 2 new tyres January with 2015 hologram but the tyres are bad 4months after. Virtually all the tyres in Nigeria are fake.
My neighbour's wife was once apprehended by FRSC personnel for driving with expired (outdated) tyres; she called her husband & I just told her to go check the FRSC vehicle tyres & check if it was outdated too, lo and behold it was far outdated & they had no choice but to let her go!
The IG of Police should tell us how his family (extended) fuel their generator or do the FG & NPF fuel all his extended families generator?
Its disheartening to read this from Mr Ebun. Our journalists need to ask pertinent questions from interviewees.
The journalist should've asked him his opinion on the Rickey Tarfa & Nwodike (or what is that name again) that have been frolicking with a judge to the extent of sending #225k to a serving judge!
Also Ebun's position on only a judge handling a law firm's case in Lagos for over 10years and winning ALL the cases.
His opinion on Justice Odein Ajumugobia sanction by the NJC.
Pls ask Ebun who has been appointing judges and their elevation; how has that affected the nation adversely when (PDP) politicians fill the judiciary with their lackey and cronies.
This is our country, no sitting on the fence; its either you are for them or against them.
FemiFaniKayode: Young man you are too pompous where in that formula did you see model and engine size?
Proffesor i too know!
Ignorant response to a simple clarification. Anywyz, one shouldn't be surprised as your moniker already tells us you the famous gibberish talker/writer.
FFK is firing his first salvo of strategy with his ultimately plan of get himself expelled from PDP and move to APC.
Where was FFK when GEJ was moving around with Sheriff?
FFK has carefully chosen his word (calling Sheriff an ex-senator and gov intellectual-deficient et al). And even going further to say Sheriff was chosen for his large pocket and jets; pls FFK should tell us who told him this, Mimiko or Fayose or whom?? Cos we know those 2 govs are very close to you!
In all, this is the vintage FFK - operation leave PDP
His next salvo is definitely is - I CAN'T be in same party with a boko haram sponsor.
