Summary of the story so far.

There was a leadership tussle at ASPAMDA. The High Court dissolved the former leadership and that judgement was affirmed by the Appeal Court.

The former leadership refused to vacate office despite the judgement. This led to threats of violence at the market.


The Lagos State Government set up an interim committee to conduct elections to produce new leaders at ASPAMDA.

The members of the committee failed to conduct elections and were instead trying to hang on to power. This led to more violence at ASPAMDA.

The State Government gave the Interim Committee another deadline to conduct elections.

The deadline has now passed.

Sadder tales by the Police PRO. Why would the Police arrest and dump them in jail without interrogation and proper investigation, the law stipulates max of 48 hours to be charged to court

Then you expect the hapless mother not to pay the bribe but report; did your organisation, the NPF, follow due process - no interrogation, no investigation, denial of phone call to relative, denial of legal representation, not to talk of torture

The NPF completely forgets their duty is primarily to protect and preserve human lives

Nigerians are gaming each other, the same police man (or his relative) will need another profession, say doctor, nurse, lecturer, Customs etc, service and he too will surely face a recalcitrant and corrupt one

Thank goodness the FG reduced duty from 70% to 40% or I could have driven it in New York to get to over 3k miles before shipping it to Nigeria to pay 35%

I only paid 5% more (40% instead of 35%) which is understandable and financially prudent to maintain the brand-new status

A large percentage of the cars in Abuja are via land borders especially Cotonou with no duty; this has duty, not compromised but full 40%
