PoliticsRe: Sanwo-Olu: Insurance Didn’t Cover Lagos Buses Burnt During #EndSARS by DelTel(m): 11:41am On Apr 19, 2021
TGM2015:
Stop displaying your ignorance with high confidence. SRCC is also an extended insurance policy, except that such occurrence is witnessed seldomly, no one cares to pay for it. In fact, the marketers will not even market it.

Lagos State can not be blamed for not taking the extension because since her creation such has never happened and I personally will not advise for the extension to be taken because such should never be allowed to occur again.
So LASG use marketers not insurance brokers grin.

Seriously did you just say such has never happened grin. Tell Nairaland what is the most frequent peril faced by BRT buses Mr Name-calling https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/448367-youth-attack-brt-station-as-bus-kills-motorcyclist.html

https://www.thecable.ng/14-brt-buses-destroyed-protest-death-hawker/amp

Let us even conceded to your flawed logic, please what is the essence of insurance, isn't it for unforeseen circumstances grin so if it has never happened does not mean it should be insured against grin. Another definition of Insurance is protection against that which rarely happens but can happen and terribly affect a business/individual/government.

With this your position, you are a disaster-in-waiting in any private and public endeavour you are saddled with making decision sir.

For knowledge sake (if you are willing to learn), SRCC should ordinarily be a standard clause for Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance; only Flood and EBB are extensions typically.

Is simple the government had a cover without SRCC EXTENSION
If you stay in Lagos, you will understand Insurance has been paying under SRCC whenever agberos, soldiers, miscreants, aggrieved motorists, arsonists etc attack and damage the bus.

Enlighten us. This platform is for enlightenment and knowledge sharing
SRCC is Strike, Riot and Civil Commotion and a standard policy wordings for Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance globally and most other insurance policies (except Marine Insurance).

If our Governor is saying the burnt buses are not covered (under SRCC), then why has insurance been paying for damages caused by agberos, soldiers, miscreants, aggrieved motorists, arsonists etc whenever BRT buses are attacked after one issue or the other undecided.

Like I said earlier, we know what is going on.

But they should not tarnish or diminish Insurance as a whole in their arrangee padi-padi arrangement to (zip it again).

Insurance will never cover destruction caused by riots but majorly accidents and stealing

They are fully insured! But no insurance will cover destruction caused by rioting
Do you know what SRCC is?

Pls don't dabble into what you don't know.

Government has no business in business, "their" company (zip it).

Shame.

It is suppose to be a savings package insurance policy, where they give a particular percentage after expiration of your policy.

Apparently I entered into a savings plan with them, they had their outlets in Zenith bank. Paid in 1.2 million as part of my savings plan for 1 year(cumulative savings of 100k /month), but afterwards started becoming a bit suspicious as I wasn't really seeing an account or have an account I can look into (like a conventional bank)..

It's already 1 year past, and I have mailed them I want my policy cancelled , but they don't seem to be any response, no one is replying my mails.

Does anyone know anything about them?

Or perhaps does anyone know the address here in Lagos? Thank you.
Place a phone call to the phone number or send an email to the email address as written on the policy document issued to you. Do have your policy information handy when you call.

Just so you know, that's one the best insurance company in Nigeria, highly capitalised and majorly owned by Prudential Plc UK, one of the oldest and most strongly capitalised life insurance companies in the world, not just Nigeria.

Thanks Gazzuzz, I appreciate your counsel. It’s a crying shame though. Hopefully our customers will see through the thinly veiled accusations and see them for what they are.

They’ll then say that we love guns too much in America. E get why.

Thanks.
Only ignorant fellows who will most likely be troublesome customers will not see through the shenanigans written all over the comment.

I believe you are meeting the needs of your customers hence no roguish statement can dissuade them.

Not every seeming bad publicity has negative impact on one's person or business.

Best regards.

The so called SMEs you are crying about are running on Telecoms infrastructure, should the Telecos die for the SMEs to live? It is business and not a charity organisation. Shareholders took risks and invested money in the Telecos, so the management needs to ensure shareholders are making money, same way the banks and SMEs shareholders want to also make profit.
In the markets you are comparing, find out if Telecos there have two Generators per base station running 12 hours each. Find out the power situation there.
Find out if there are arbitrary taxes by the central Government, State Government, local government and even non state actors like Youth associations, community development associations and Agbero.
In summary, the cost of doing business in Nigeria and the exchange rate makes things more expensive here.

They are both criminals but I will choose MTN over the bank any day anytime especially with my recent encounter with first bank.

Is it not madness to allow your customers to be able to transfer money into an account that is dormant and yet for you to give him you made him pay almost 20k after almost 2months just to get back the money and all this is withing the same bank.
You apparently didn't read or understand my post. I will reiterate my position again: I don't care about banks, I care about SMEs (roadside, corner-shops retailers) affected by the commission reduction.

Is the company not making over N100 billion monthly or not?

Are the SMEs not paying for the service or is it free?

A company with 49% increase in revenue YoY making over N100 billion revenue a month is dying?

Can you tell us how many companies in Nigeria is not faced with all the challenges you aforementioned. Don't banks, corporate organisations run 3-4 generators, don't SMEs pay multiple taxes too! Even hawkers, cart-pushers are extorted by area boys!

But tell me how many companies get Forex at low rate in Nigeria and if MTN is not one of them.

Your excuses are lame sir, MTN should operate ethically and according to the law. If other Telcos are profitable, what is stopping the widely acclaimed market leader (lest I forget, it's inefficiency!).

Abuleoshi:
In all the revenue figures you are quoting, What is MTN Nigeria's EBITDA margin? Why are you looking at revenue only? What is MTN's EBITDA Margin compared to its closest rival Airtel? Compare the EBITDA and maybe you will understand why MTN Nigeria is looking for where to cut cost and improve efficiency!
I am flabbergasted to say the least. Is it not revenue that ultimately leads to profit for an efficient organisation; or are the figures I mentioned wrong? grin.

Jokes apart, what is the concern of SMEs when a market leader can not play and run its business according to the law of the land they operate making MTN EBITDA bad compared to competitors. So SMEs should be punished for MTN's inefficiency and fines (and bribery)!

A company has responsibilities to different segments, be it, staffers, shareholders, suppliers, society, government; including SMEs especially for a big corporate like MTN or SMEs did not aid their expansion and penetration.
