Its too simple.

You need two basic ingredients.

1: Substrate or growth medium (saw dust, dried rice straw, Old wood, Grains, old, paper, etc)

2: Mushroom Spawn (This is the seed. It is simply the fungus which had colonized or grown inside a substrate which you can use as 'seed')


Mushroom is simply fungus. Fungus colonizes or engulfs things it likes l, and turns the whole thing white as you can see from the OP's bags. Those were brown before (saw dust).

1 & 2: Sanitize the substrate by steaming for 2- 4 hours if using sawdust to kill bacteria and bad fungus. If using rice straw, use hydrated lime and soak for 14-24hrs. This one is more simpler.


-I use dried rice straws in place of the popular sawdust for the substrate.

-I buy grain spawn from Mushroom Planet (Google this person or ask OP if they sell).

How I do mine:

1: I cut the rice straw into small half-finger sizes. I Soak all in water which has some measure of hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide). This kills unfriendly microbes like bacteria by raising the PH level of the Soak.

2: I remove the soaked straw in the morning of the next day and keep inside a sack to drain.

3: Spawn-straw-spawn-straw-spawn: By evening, using pure water bagging bag (the main bag containing pure water), I pour some little spawn (grain spawn) inside the empty pure water bag, then fetch some straw and add on top. when it reaches the middle, i add some more spawn...add straw and top the bag with spawn...

You can even do the above using that big black nylon bag for waste.

make like three incisions on three sides of the bag and keep somewhere for the bag to turn white with the mushroom spawn. after like three or four weeks, the thing will rear its head from the holes you made.


I find rice straw and soy husk most fruitful for me than what the OP uses (saw dust).
