Politics / Re: MEND Threatens To Blow Up The 3rd Mainland Bridge by Demolaf: 11:38am On Oct 21, 2007
Wow, i dont understand my fellow Nigerians. How will anyone in their right mind say theu should blow up the bridge because they are having problems and have been neglected. There is no excuse for that crap. Their so called fight will be expressly turned into an act of terrorism. What does Lagos have to do with this. This is just annoying
Politics / Re: Beautification Of Lagos: Pains & Losses Of Petty Traders by Demolaf: 6:52am On Oct 04, 2007
Two basic things i am saying. Just two
1) Because you are doing something to make ends meet, being whatever it is, if iss seen as unlawful in anyway is not right. Regardless if u were swindled to think u could set up a lil shed on the street and have fake papers.
2) I know people have lived in particular regions for generations and all but if the cost of living becomes higher than you can afford (eg cant rent shops, cant rent a place, pretty much cant survive), in my opinion the next best thing is to find somewhere you can survive. As harsh as i might sound, its better than suffering urself i think. But what do i know
Politics / Re: Beautification Of Lagos: Pains & Losses Of Petty Traders by Demolaf: 12:33pm On Oct 03, 2007
Because my post does not agree with yours i dont belong in Lagos. You dont belong there either. The lagos we want and envision is one that works, people are law abiding and not unnecessarily break laws because they are trying to earn a honest living. Am sure u must have been part of those supoorting the prostitutes cuz they are making honest living too abi. My friend to me you sound like u should be living on the moon or in a remote village where there arent any rules. Even in villages, there are rules and regulations to be observed, and thats my opinion, and i am definitely entitled to have.

i have a few questions for a few people here.
So if i illegally set up shop, govt cant chase me away cuz i am making honest livng and there right.
I dont think Govt is responsible to provide replacement shops for these people, but constructions of shopping areas and central markets are needed and in place.
Not to sound harse and all, but i am saying if u cant afford a shop in lagos, then must u live in lagos. Relocate to where u can survive legally, so as not to be in a loose loose situation.

THE Lagos State Government has again debunked the alleged order by the state Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to the police on the arrest of innocent people considered to be indecent in their mode of dressing especially ladies, describing the act as unlawful.

However, in another development, the Lagos State Environmental Task Force confirmed yesterday that it has clamped down on indecent dressing and social miscreants popularly known as "Area boys".

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Bamidele Opeyemi made the clarification at a media briefing on the deliberations of this week Executive Council Meeting, at Alausa Ikeja.

His words: "There is no offence known to us as indecent dressing, Governor Babatunde Fashola did not and I emphasize, did not at any point in time order the arrest of any category of citizens over such issue of mode of dressing. We are not aware of any offence under the law against indecent dressing. We do not want to be distracted by such trivial matter.

"The Lagos State government has taken notice of police denial of the arrest, and is using this opportunity to call on the police command to ensure henceforth that no innocent citizens are arrested or harassed and bring the perpetrators to book."

Opeyemi added that the state government has contacted relevant law enforcement agencies to ensure immediate compliance that no innocent citizen is arrested or harassed," because they have the right to dress the way they choose.

In Virginia, you get a Ticket if you sagg ur pants, or if a police officer can see ur boxers. (i think 200 dollars), and that is boys oh. I feel if u wanna dress half naked going to do ur ho activities, dont be walking the streets if you are exposed. Take a cab
Politics / Re: Lagos Girls Versus Governor Fashola by Demolaf: 5:51pm On Aug 09, 2007
And for the Idiot that says girls can walk around naked in developed countries, have ur sister come walk around naked here in America and tell me she wont get arrested, or have her loiterring soliciting customers for sex, and tell me she wont get arrested. The Question probably should be what is proper and who sets that standard. but all over the world there is something called indecent exposure and u will get arrested.

Thank you. Lagos is a mega city or should i say state. Population alone is enuff to distinguish that. Can u compare the ratio of police to the inhabitants. Its like 1 officer to how many thousand people, how on earth are they supposed to get anything accomplished security wise. Tinubu has done well or at least passed with a C5

@llcoolg05. This is first hand information not ignorance that i know people have more that one social security number because i knew people with more than one, and that is a fraud because u have to show that u are someone else. Now with the degree and as i said earlier, no American school will change your diploma name because u tell them onikoro and obanikoro mean the same thing. I was an international student who graduated in Illinois State uni, and they will not add Jr to the back of my name because it is not on my birth certificate and passport. There has to be a government issued document showing your change of name to prove identity. And i know Nigerian Birth certificates wont say onikoro aka obanikoro, or American BC either to say onikoro aka obanikoro. So before he can change it, there has to be legal proof of a name change which he hasn't done.

I have been reading this thread for a very long time, and i enjoy it alot, and the few times i add a comment is because i have first hand knowledge or info about what i am talking about. So chill with the ignorance tip, when you are not too sure of how stuff work.
Politics / Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by Demolaf: 12:20pm On Apr 01, 2007
Some say everyone knows that Onikoro and Obanikoro mean the same thing, so i guess that includes the Americans also, thats why they at will change the last name on the application, and put a different one on the certificate, just to show us they fully understand the Yoruba language abi. And back in the days, and even till now, people obtain more than one social security number mostly for illegal stuff, or to rent to people and collect their income tax, and all other crazy stuff. I don't know about this guy, but i know something is fishy with mister Sheerman korossive

Its amazing how some people come on here, yarn all this dust but are actually so irrelevant its amazing. Who is this fool calling people names. Governor mumu and fashola. If anything, Fashola is more of an intellectual that u, your mother, your father and your whole family, thats why he can even be in that position to run. Where is your contribution or anyone in your family. Pls either u vote for ur candidate, debate for your candidate or shut up and watch the results.
