Majedibo,
Thank you for correcting Mr. Streetcyph(aka Femi Pedro). I will no longer adress him because its obvious he is so passionate about Pedro, which would have been good if that passion was shared by more than 40 people in lagos. 2 million man march heh Yah Right!! Its the same way they had held their campaign opening in Lagos where they promised to show us that Labour party was the party to beat in lagos. We will see, where will they get 2 million people from??
Whateva sha, it doesnt matter even if they pull out 1,000,000. Election day will come and Go and we will see.

Continuing with Majedibo, I see your point but i think you misunderstood mine. I understand that at the moment we are talking about providing jobs asap because people are hungry. If you look into Jay Kays manifesto he addresses that(www.jimiagbaje.com) but he is looking even beyond that, at ways to enrich lagos state where we dont have to take all these loans. There are prospects of oil in badagry and Epe, and it should be explored to see what we have. Please keep in mind that people have to be employed if this is going to be donw(although it isnt the solution to unemployment).

After reading JayKays manifesto, what i see is that he is not confining himself to the nigerian way of thinking (i.e same of the same) where we appease people by just doing little irrelevant things(aka tinubu, buying 1950 london reject firetrucks to win the election). He is talking about nation building starting at the level of the state.

The idea is splitting lagos into 5 economic zones that will have their own specializations. (hence why the Oil thing came up, because thats what Epe e.t.c will try to focus on). Ikeja, is manufacturing e.t.c . This sort of competition can only be good for the state.

Another thing which makes Jay Kay stand out is his integrity, his integrity cannot be challenged.(sorry to say-unlike Pedros. By the way Streetcyph, are you kidding? You really think Tinubu will apologize to anybody? Spare us the rhethoric and damage control you are trying to do on the internet. It is needed more on ground in Nigeria because everybody i've talked to today has said that pedro lost votes. And he did not answer the question on why TInubu said thta. If he did, please kindly state his answer on here for us to see).

Pedro i personally had respected till before the debate. I noticed he talks down to people a lot and he tried to tear apart Jay Kay only to get the end of the stick. Fashola also put him in his place.

In all honesty, Koro impressed me more so than anyone(to my suprise).

Anyways, I respect everyone on here for having their views and defending it. When the time comes we will see, April 14

niniowo i cant really reply u cos u claim to be in the uk, so u dont really knw wat is on ground,
hoao62 ,
jimi agbaje was a man i held in high esteem until yesterday, he fombuled big time we must agree to thi unless we are not real,
well i dont judge by debates sha cos even me i ll perform in a debate, but agbaje cant do shit, u see the only person that has tried a lil bit from afenifere is tinubu but rite now he has lost it nad he is a thief. agbaje has no pedigree he ll only yan and ll not perform, cos he is not deep into the real lagos,
politics in nig. is mo' than just beign educated or comin from a good home it is a whole lot mo dan dat, jimi has not got that extra he shld jus chill, ok

but out of all the 4 candidates koro is the most informed abt lagos and u know dis aight, lets not lie abt this, ok, so u guys know who to vote for be real, vote koro, lets lagos smile again,
Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by hoao62: 6:23pm On Mar 23, 2007
Majedibo,
This is politics man. Jay Kay couldnt just sit back, as Pedro kept coming for his head. I'm sure pedro is aware of what Jay Kay is talking about. They both know what he is talking about, so let Streetcyph(who apparently is either Femi Pedro himself or His campaign manager) come out and tell the world.
Jay Kay so far has been the only one to run a campaign without being dirty,
But when the time comes he has to be able to show people that he isnt a walkover,
Like he said he has more political experience than any one of the candidates from yesterday except KORO. So for Femi pedro who kept running his mouth and being disrespectful. How can one say, you have never run anything besides a pharmacy of 20 people?
Please google Jimi Agbaje and do your research,
He is involved in so many things, from being on the board at Atlantic Hall, to GTB( by the way, (Streetcyp, sorry Pedro) He is on the board(and even if he isnt his father was on the board and His immediate younger brother like you said is the Deputy CEO or whateva) so when he says they both know why Pedro left, he knows what he is talking about.

Please, majedibo, its actually Ok because your vote isnt neccesary, you were already going to give it to Koro anyway, Many other pedro supporters have called me today to let me know they are jumping ship, look out for the 2 million man march (HA!HA! where do you want to get the people, arfe yoyu going to steal them? Please, )
Jay Kay defended himself well, and showed that he couldnt be walked all over, Pedro was trying to reuse a strategy he had used last time and it backfired.
Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by platnum: 7:14pm On Mar 23, 2007
The truth will always be said, i am not into the business of politics, i dont get paid every four years when i have to run internet campaigns for Femi Pedro and all that, but in all honesty, the truth has been said. I have nothing to gain or loose, i left a phone number, not even agbaje's campaign org would do that, so get real and face facts,
Mr. Streetcyph(aka Femi Pedro), get that straight, there is no room for you in office, you have tasted it, FINE, but no second chances are allowed here, whether his father is or was on the board is not an issue to discuss, Jimi Agbaje was composed all through the night, and he only raised that issue after Pedro stabbed first,
And who the HELL is KORO KORO DAMN you koro boys are rude, I personally would guarantee you that lagos is going down with that guy on the seat,
Its as simple, i said it before and i am saying it again, we are not to decide who would win, we are just here to discuss the possibilities and NOT campaign for some of them like Mr. Streetcyph(aka Femi Pedro) is,
I guess you get paid for doing this, maybe 10 Naira for every post, or what do you guys feel??

I am OUT!!!!

And please you need to check Jimi Out, that guy is HOT like FAYA

Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by con9ja: 7:46pm On Mar 23, 2007
For those who missed the debate i can bet John Momoh will most likely show a repeat of it, alot of people who watched it via dstv complained.
Now i think everyone is free to air he's or jer opinion it's a free world i don't think anyone should abuse anybody for voicing out how they feel, I think it's time we have a change in this country and move to the next level, you guys are abusing Jimi Agbaje because he has refused to think and talk like the average politician i guess most of u people are used to people making promises like you will have light in 6mthns and 8yrs down the line we are worse of than where we started, Jimi Agbaje as far as i'm concerned stands for a change, people say he has no experience to rule lagos, some people we know ruled for 4yrs got experience and ruled for another 4yrs and we are worse off, unfortuniately all this noise we are making doesn't count, what counts is who will go out come 14 aprill, instead of us abusing ourselves why don't try and see how the rigging can be reduced to the bearest minimum and contribute our own quote (don't ask me how, that's for u to find out) or better still let nairaland members come together and say enough is enough of all this rubbish in goverance,

Koro spoke English but I am sure he can do without shairman, foters e.t.c
All the candidates were trying to malign one another; Koro asked for Agbaje's background probably trying to insinuate that he's not a pure Lagosian. Pedro questioned Agbaje's ability to manage a state like Lagos sine he gas nevr managed in the public sector before, Pedro told Fashola that he was a mere chief of Staff and has no right to take credit for the Tinubu's achievement. Someone asked Koro for his achievement in senate You know all is fair in warfare.
Those calling Fashola a stooge are not serious cos they would have called anybody the same if Tinubu had endorsed them. Agbaje, Pedro, Afikuyomi and even Gbaja would have been called a stooge if Tinubu had supported them. what do you now call Yar'Adua. They said Fashola was hand picked Fashola won an election process maybe because the other contestant boycotted. what do you say about Koro ; When a Lagos man was defeated by a foreign woman in his own state and he claims he was popular

this is really getting interesting.

i see there are a lot of jimi agbaje supporters out here. straight from your jimi agbaje forum.

please ask jimi agbaje to tell everyone of us what happened to femi pedro in GTB publicly. i mean it will even help him in the elections. the stories are going around is that jimi agbaje said he knew something that happened in GTB 10 years ago to draw interest and create doubt which its bad PR for jimi if its really nothing. he needs to address this soon.

far as im concerned to two real candidates are agbaje and pedro.
Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by juvenile: 3:48pm On Mar 24, 2007
i like the way Femi Pedro defended himself. You don't play with someone's integrity. You knew it was a cheap shot and it was done out of anger. I am a journalist but i support femi pedro.

for those who don't know Femi Pedro. This is his profile

no talk of bad leadership
no talk of theft

i really like jimi agbaje, but i thought it was bad to make up a story like that. (about someone who protects his integrity passionately) its totally wrong. It was done to create doubt in the minds of people and too distract the campaign team. not sure if it worked though.

Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by hoao62: 10:13pm On Mar 24, 2007
What i'm asking is why you people are so sure, that pedro is clean
THat is the second time, his integrity has been questioned in recent times. In all honesty, the way Jay Kay handled it was mature. He wouldnt just make up something that big if there is no substance behind it. In all honesty, i would personally have loved him to tell the whole public right there and then but i guess they chose not to go that route. Besides, it wasnt in his place to say what he knew about Pedro. I'm sure if people want to know they can find out.

Because pedro has so many degrees, etc, does not mean he cant be corrupt,

initially as well, i had thought the two people of integrity that were running was Pedro and Agbaje. But after Tinubu's comment(people : i dont think you understand the magnitude of Tinubus allegation. He said something bad about every other contestant, but he chose specifically to say that he didnt trust Pedro with the treasury. If Pedro was so passionate about his integrity, he should have come out swinging after that , but he said nothing. The only explanation i see is that there is something to hide. Besides dont forget that it is this same pedro that had come out to Rebutt the allegation that the president was planning with Labor party to overthrow Tinubus government, !! So why didnt we see the same in regards to the treasurey allegation, ?? Something is up man.)

the march was unbelievable. you had to be there to see it. femi pedro walked from maryland to national stadium, it was an unprecedented  feat.

this is not rent-a-crowd here, this was some real genuine stuff!

its hard a put a number to the total people, but they had huge boxes where the unemployed put CVs, as of last nigth they said there were 70,000 unemployed cvs,

never before has nigeria (not to talk of lagos) seen such a thing,

@ hoao62

i am sure you are a reasonable person and i understand you are a supporter of jimi agbaje. but don't let the emotions get the best of you. don't HOPE for negative things about someone else. it is said that when someone accuses a person of not lacking credibility he / she should prove it, else, it is just an attack. thats where Tinubu and Agbaje looked bad.

you see, this is Pedro's major strenght. his credibility. everyone knows that. so what do you do to reduce his chances? try your best to discredit and tear his integrity.

we all know the two most qualified candidates are jimi agbaje and femi pedro. One thing i am sure of is that if there is a run-off in the elections which noone wants, jimi agbaje and femi pedro are most likey going to come together.

that is what tinubu was trying to do. that is what agbaje tried. did they work?
ask people around you about femi pedro?
Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by joorojaara(f): 12:43pm On Mar 25, 2007
1. Fashola let's himself down by not being prepared for things. Reluctant politician or not, he is a SAN, which is a coveted position in the legal profession. He should take more time to be more professional about his running for governor. His performance to date does not do him justice. He really should do more campaigning on his own and not under the shadow of Bola Ahmed Tinubu (aka Bad After Taste)

2. Obanikoro seems to be making a last minute surge. Throwing off his "thug" image and coming forward as a man that might actually know what he is talking about.

3. Femi Pedro should not throw stones since he is reputed, by Jimi Agbaje, to live in a glass house, Ask Femi Pedro what happened to him after he left GTB. That was the only time in his life that he did not collect salary, and ran his own business (trading if I remember right). How many people did he employ? How well did the business go? In addition losing your cool on TV does not show that you can respond logically under pressure. And there is a lot of pressure in running Lagos.

4. Jimi Agbaje should stick to the facts as he has done so far. Being goaded into talking about a man's integrity is not the thing. Let the voters decide that. And let us all have the facts so that we can make up our own minds

Oh and just for the record I just found out that Bode Pedro has taken a sabbatical from school in the UK, since January, to help run his father's campaign and consistently writes in this forum under several aliases. Not a bad idea, but he really should identify himself, if he is running a transparent campaign.

Until next time

To those who have been in support of our campaign, thank you. We truly have been overwhelmed. You will not be dissapointed when FP resumes in Alausa

To those who are still undecided as to where their votes will go, consider one thing. FP has always performed, no matter what challenges he has had to face. In over 20 years of Public and Private practice, he has his integrity in tact- rock solid. We must act today to preserve tomorrow, we must harness all the creative energies at our disposal and command, renew our determination and courage, activate our faith and belief of a better future. We must seize the moment to create our future. It is a task that must be fulfilled. FP is the man who can steer this ship.

To those who have made up their minds to vote for other candidates, i urge you to spend your votes wisely. It is all you have for the next 4 years.

Seize the moment, secure your future.

Re: Who Will Rule Lagos Come May 2007? by hoao62: 6:10pm On Mar 25, 2007
Guys. Congratulations, that looks like an impressive crowd however I dont think that is 2 million people. The reason i say this is:

I dont like being promised things and then having them not fulfilled. It is always better to underpromise and then overachieve. Like io have said before i really liked pedro until he started trying to go for the Kill with Jimi Agbaje. If you remember in the first debate, that had worked for him fine, and he did really well with that strategy. As such he tried to come and do that again at the last debate and it backfired.

Making promises and then not delivering is no the way to go. So far, there are 2 broken promises, 1) he said their campaign rally opening in Lagos was going to be out of this world. I was around Sky power at the time and i wasnt impressed. Even PDP did better.
Secondly, he promised the 2 million man march, and we didnt get two million. Even if he got 1 million(which he didnt), i feel he still think of that as a failure because why say 2 million if you can deliver only1?

Also recently i have been hearing him make promises about him making the power regular and stable within his first year in office!!! How can you say that It is so unfair to the poor people who will devour any  hope when he knows damn well that as the law stands any power produced by the state will be added to the national grid, so there is no way in hell he can fulfill that promise.

Until recent events, i didnt realize that Pedro was just another one of them. He is simply the same of the same and thats the sad truth because i had wished otherwise.
(sorry to offend the pedro supporters but i must speak the truth).

Pedro winning cheap political points like promising the 4th mainland bridge while Jimi agbaje remained honest and said that he wouldnt build it and that he would rather put the money towards building smaller bridges and a mass transportation system.

This is the response to a question asked on his website

How do you intend to manage traffic and other transportation problems in Lagos State (the BRT in focus)?
Answer: We gather there is a movement of about 6 million people in and out of Lagos central daily. The solution to the carriage of this amount of human traffic is not in roads or bridges.
It is not a promise of BRT fulfilled after 8 years in office.
I intend to create new economic self contained cities or zones within the state, so people do not move in one direction.
We will diffuse traffic flows, but then build an integrated transport system that uses light rail, roads and ferries.

It is not what people want to hear, 4th mainland bridge(which doesnt solve all our problems)

I agree, that i'm a Jimi Agbaje fan, and as such i am probably biased. The truth was that i was a Jimi AGbaje and Pedro fan, but the debates helped me to make my choice. Throughout i saw that Jay Kay was a composed, honest(even when he loses points as a result) and intelligent. I also learned that Pedro is a sweet talker, he says what people want to hear and this isnt what is needed in Lagos.

By the way another thing that impresses me about Jay Kay is the transparent manner in which he plans to run the affairs of Lagos. I noticed in the manifesto that he promised to have the state accounts published for public scrutiny every quater or something like that.
Theat is what we need!!!!
