This is a motivation for every hustle out there. The pay day will surely come.Just keep grinding in your work of choosing.I wasn't born with a silver spoon but I never looked down on myself. I've been a hard worker right from when I was a kid and now at age 20, I have a place to call my own.

I have done menial jobs from clearing farms for people, going on errands and fetching firewood.I did all these while squatting with friends. They fed me because I washed their clothes and kept the place tidy.In this life, you always have to prove your usefulness to people so that they in turn can help you.

In the course of doing my menial jobs, I met a man who linked me with a fuel attendant job late last year.I was able to save up and secure my house.

Always believe in yourself.

Next thing is to save up and apply for my ND.

It can only get better from here.
Thank you lord.
You've got the right attitude to life. I pray that you continue to progress from one achievement to the next and that you arrive at a glorious destination. May this be the lowest you'll ever be, and may life favour you greatly. Peace.

Fhunky1, it was truly eye opening to read all the knowledge you've dropped in this thread over the years. I can't begin to imagine what the experience is like living as a warrior. The description of some of the conditions you shared broke my heart.

The conclusion I've come to is that there's nothing in this world that'll make me bring another soul into such a situation.

Glad to see you've finally gotten the surgeries you needed. You're an incredibly inspirational person, I wish you the very best as you continue to fight towards 100%.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Who is an evening newspaper? by DemonSlayer:
Society is inherently a bully. It will bully you for not valuing or manifesting what it values. For example, it values having a husband for ladies and it values having money for guys. If you lack these as a lady or a guy it makes fun of you and calls you names. Why is this? It's because society, just like your average organism, has evolved to be self preserving. Family life is highly esteemed within society because that's how society propagates; through the birth and nurturing of the next generation within the safety of homes. Consequently, the perceived failure to initiate a family, whether by choice or circumstance, is frowned upon.

This phenomenon isn't peculiar to Nigeria. In China, for instance, women above a certain age, surpassing the preferred age for marriage, are labeled "Leftover Ladies" by society. This stems from the notion that the most desirable ladies have already been chosen, leaving the inferior (ugly, bad character, boring, damaged) specimens behind. This perception is compounded by the issue of fecundity; the decline in a woman's fertility after a certain age, which diminishes her desirability in the eyes of potential partners who prioritize having their own children -- children being one of the main reasons people marry.

Regarding the term "Evening Newspaper," while I know nothing about its historical origin, it likely reflects the idea of something left over and consequently deemed less relevant. This parallels the decline in sales of newspapers by evening, as the day's news is typically well-known by that time, diminishing enthusiasm for evening editions.

Like I've stated in my opening, just like women are shamed for being unmarried at a certain age, there exists a similar phenomenon of "broke-shaming" men, wherein a man's financial status is spotlighted as a factor making him undesirable for romantic relationships. Or haven't you heard the popular notion that broke men don't deserve **cookies**? You may think this is another crazy, materialistic notion -- and there's a lot of that in the current ziegeist -- but do you know that the success and well-being of children - the quality of education, healthcare, exposure, etc - are often directly correlated with the depth of their father's pocket? In both cases, aspects perceived as detracting from one's desirability in the "marriage market" are exploited to inflict emotional harm. After all, when we wrestle with words, don't we target our opponent's greatest insecurity, aiming for where they're most vulnerable?

This culture of shaming individuals for remaining unmarried beyond a certain age is detrimental. It adversely impacts people's well-being and may compel some to enter into marriages for the wrong reasons. If we must be a more compassionate society, we need to stop this, but na Naija we dey, I won't count on that. My advice would be to develop thick skin, because people go yab you tire.

The headline is mischievous. There are all these
212 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 10,025 litres of premium motor spirit, 250 bales of used clothing, 150 expired powdered milk, 50 pieces of used tyres, 78 rolls of Diclofenac Sodium, 10 Jerry cans of vegetables oils, 20 cartons of foreign spaghetti and 20 bags of foreign sugar with a combined duty paid value worth over N126m
But it's the 39 wraps of weed and 57 cards of black diamond that is captured as amounting to N126M. Where did this reporter learn their journalism?
Christianity EtcRe: Is It True The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Was Sex? (Photo) by DemonSlayer: 3:36pm On Apr 21, 2024

Is It True The Forbidden Fruit In The Garden Was Sex?

You may have also heard the claims being made by some so-called Christians that the forbidden fruit in the garden was sex, and that Eve had sex with the serpent, also that Cain was the seed of the serpent.

As weird and irritating as that idea sounds, could they be right?

The best way to find out is to go back to the beginning to see what the Bible says about that.

Genesis 2:9 (KJV)

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

So first of all, it was made perfectly clear that the trees God planted in the garden were not in the figurative but literal sense just as we see them up to this very day.

Trees that produce edible fruits which could serve as food to man.

God planted different kinds of such trees which produce edible fruits in the garden, among which was the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

So it was after God had planted those trees which produce fruits that could serve as food to man in the garden, that He gave man the right to eat of the fruits of every one of them, except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

That's actually where the term "forbidden fruit" stemmed from.

It was because God had forbidden man from eating of the edible fruit produced by that particular tree out of all the trees He had planted in that garden.

So where could they have possibly gotten the idea that the forbidden fruit was sex?

According to the Bible so far, we can all see it definitely wasn't from God.

God bless.
If Adam and Eve were white people, where did we come from?

I nor dey use diesel so this news isn't relevant to me. Thank you. Diesel users over to you.
Bro. Diesel is what the big trucks that distribute goods across the country run on. It is what fuels the generators that power factories. All these are factored in the pricing of the goods and commodities you buy in the market. A reduction in the input cost, is likely going to reflect in the price of goods and services. That's how you're affected.

Jesus Christ!

Nigerians are always in a rush...something that will go round, most of us like to rush to get it.

This is also evident in the way we drive. Everybody rushing to somewhere at the same time. They will block the main way and the alternative.

May their souls rest in peace. An avoidable death is painful
RIP to the souls of the departed.

You see this road thing ehn, it baffles me by its height of stupidity. You're rushing, you need you blocking both lanes at the end, there's a deadlock and nobody can move. You end up spending more time in the resulting blockage than you'll if you'd just waited for the queue to move. It makes no sense.

The only issue here is the emboldened. It is a date not APC meeting so no break any bone, literally or figuratively.

Taking off your wig will make you more interesting and if you like stout then why not?

Making a really good first impression is not great for both the person making the impression and the one being impressed. If you do really well the first time, they'll expect an even better one next time, and if it keeps going like that. It can get tiring, but you can't stop because you've reached a point where you can't let them down. It's like putting yourself in a cage.

The person who is impressed also gets stuck. If the person making the impression manages to break free from their fake image and shows who they really are, the person who was impressed remains stuck, hoping things will go back to how they were.

A first impression should just be interesting enough to not be boring, that's it. Don't set expectations too high.
This makes a bunch of sense.
