The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University’s Yelwa Campus in Bauchi has shut down the institution following protests by students over the fatal stabbing of Joseph Agabaidu, a final-year Geology student of the institution, during a robbery attempt.

In a circular obtained by DAILY POST, and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Haj. Fatima Inuwa Abdullahi, the management approved the closure of the university for an ‘initial period of one week with effect from Monday, December 4, to Sunday, December 10.

Sexual immorality is on the increase all over the world. Adultery is fast becoming the norm and men of God are also joining the club. Married women are not left out, many are having secret lovers and emotional affair is becoming the order of the day.



The rate at which immorality is increasing is alarming! It is spreading fast into every nook and cranny and children are also being initiated into the club. It’s no news that 4, 5 years old kids now have sex with each other. Staying sexually pure these days is becoming a Herculean task.



One of the reasons people fall flat into illicit sex is over confidence. The stupid belief that you can be free around the opposite sex and nothing will happen!



A lot will happen! One of the ways you can stay sexually pure whether married or single this end time is to set strict boundaries. If you are too careless around the opposite sex, you will fall flat on your face! That is the truth. The earlier you believe this and work on it, the better. You can’t be careless around the opposite sex and hope to stay sexually pure, set boundaries!



There are some people who can’t be your friends, raise the standard. Any body can call you names, that’s their headache, you have your destiny to protect. As a rule, I don’t make friends with liars, gossips and jealous women. They make life so complicated. If you believe in illicit sex, we can’t be friends, period!



Monitor your chats. Don’t allow anybody send you flirty messages, no matter how innocent it sounds, warn them and if they refuse to stop, block them!



Limit the hugs and touches. I don’t hug men as a rule. If I must hug, my husband must be around and you should hug both of us. If your hugging anointing is only for women, I want none of it.



Don’t allow anybody call you pet names (except your close family members and same sex friends), it doesn’t make any sense. Pet names turn the opposite on, if you don’t know that, know it right now.

As the second round of an eight-week warning strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) comes to an end today, the union is preparing to announce an indefinite strike.

The second round of the warning was declared by ASUU after a meeting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) on March 14, at its University of Abuja secretariat.

Sources say the union’s national leadership will make its decision public today.

According to reports, NEC had previously authorised the national leadership to direct members to go on indefinite strike if no tangible results were achieved during the eight-week warning strike.

Many undergraduates are anxiously waiting for a review of the strike.

The Guardian gathered that two key issues that must be resolved before the union suspends its action are: renegotiation of the 2009 Federal Government-ASUU agreement bordering on the working conditions of Nigerian academics and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).

While ASUU was into the second round of its warning strike, other staff unions in the university system also downed tools.

They are the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Allied Institutions (NASU).

The Federal Government last week said it would resume negotiations with ASUU this week, with a view to ending the prolonged closure of universities.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, disclosed this in his opening remark at a meeting between the government side and NAAT.

Ngige noted that the multiple industrial disputes in the education sector could have been averted if unions took advantage of his open-door policy.

When contacted, the National President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said the union had not received any invitation from the government’s team as of the weekend.

He said: “We too heard in the news what the Minister of Labour said about meeting with us. But as we talk, nobody has reached out to us for any meeting. We don’t know when the meeting will be called.”

However, I think before going to the press to announce any proposed meeting, what ought to have been done is inform us. Anyway, we are waiting for the meeting when it is called.”

THIS was as former Enugu State governor and senator representing Enugu East, Chimaroke Nnamani, asked the Federal Government and ASUU to save education by resolving the impasse.

The senator, who was speaking at the 47th-anniversary reunion of the 1975 set of Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS), Awkunanaw, held in Abuja, at the weekend, decried the continued deadlock.

A NEW WAY OF INDOCTRINATION AND PATHWAY TO IMMORALITY: PARENTS BEWARE

In church today in the course of taking today’s lesson for ages 9-10 in my Parish at Province 40 headquarters of RCCG, I and my co teacher in class learnt something new from our children in class.

We were teaching about maintaining personal hygiene and the need to avoid abuse of the body. And we made reference to abstaining from unwholesome touch of any part of the body by others especially the opposite sex. We called their attention to the recent incident involving some minors in Dubai.

Though I didn’t see the video clip and honestly stayed away from searching it online after the news went viral (I truly felt appalled at the news), but the children in my class said something that got my attention and that of my co teacher.

They said the kids involved in the unfortunate incident were playing the game called *”True or Dare”* Honestly in my entire life I have never heard such before likewise my co teacher. So we were curious to know what it meant and we asked to be educated and we were taught.

And then we asked “how many of you have ever heard of the game”? And everyone raised their hands. Then we asked further “how many of you have ever participated in the game”? Hmmm my heart sank when almost 70% of the class raised their hands! But we maintained a a straight face so we don’t discourage then from talking further.

Now what is this game called “True or Dare” about?
Hmmm it may appear simple and harmless but dear parents please note that the devil is devicing means everyday to steal, kill and destroy destinies of children who are our future!
The game take the form of question and answer then fellowed by action depending on whichever option you chose. For instance ( from the numerous instances given in class) if a peer/classmates or friend ask what would you choose “TRUE OR DARE” and you choose Dare, the fellow who chose Dare would be told (to take action, do something) “Dare to lick the floor, jump from the balcony, jump to the top of the door and climb down, kiss the opposite sex, throw the bible away through the window or go inside the opposite sex toilet and look at the unclothedness of the fellow therein, or be asked if you like the opposite sex friend in your class or school etc!

Everyone who has a job faces one pressure or another. Whether you are self-employed, an entrepreneur or an employee.

There are times, when the pressures of work loads are so overwhelming. You know that kind of feeling, where it’s like you should just forget about everything for a moment. There are always times like that, especially when it seems like some activities gets choking.

Here are a few steps to help you handle/overcome work pressures.

1. When you are under work pressure, stay calm, take a deep breath, close your eyes for a few seconds, take a short walk, watch a short comedy, read a short story. Do anything at all that helps you calm down for the first few seconds or minutes.

2. Try creating a to-do list for every day. I understand that sometimes, our daily routine might be strict, rigid or the same. Try to create a To-do list, where your tasks can be flexible. When you fix a time for everything, you can easily get those things done, compared to when you Just let the day flow as it comes.
