Health / NOMA DISEASE: Three Steps To Zero NOMA by dentalchannelng: 12:09am On Nov 13, 2021
NOMA is a gangrene in the MOUTH and FACE area that disfigures children rapidly, if they survive.
It is a very aggressive and fast disease that starts as a gum infection which develops into a gum ulcer, spreading rapidly throughout the tissues of the mouth and face.
It is one of the most devastating and disfiguring human diseases worldwide and was designated a health priority by the WHO in 1994
NOMA is still a neglected disease, and there is not much known about its causes, prevention and optimal treatment.
Fortunately, with simple interventions, NOMA can be addressed and contained and people with NOMA can be cared for.
Thus, this disease deserves more attention from healthcare workers, nutritionists, researchers and policy-makers.
Dr Adetula Ifeoluwa has more to say about the steps here https://dentalchannel.com.ng/three-steps-zero-noma-initiatives/

Health / 3 Options Available For Miising Tooth by dentalchannelng: 12:00pm On Oct 21, 2021
Few of us will make it through life with a full set of 32 teeth. By age 50, the average Nigerian must have lost from one tooth to ten permanent teeth to decay, gum disease, or injury.

Unless you’re five (5) years old, losing a tooth is never a happy affair. Once your adult teeth grow in, you shouldn’t be losing teeth because you would certainly not get a new one if they fall out due to disease or accident.

To compensate for the loss and to restore the teeth to function and aesthetics, you will need to look at some other options besides just keeping a gaping hole in your smile like someone whose name we can’t mention.

Health / Teeth Whitening!5 Basic Things To Know by dentalchannelng: 10:23pm On Apr 08, 2018
Shots of celebs using at-home, light-based whitening kits are blowing up all over Instagram. And it's no surprise since your smile is one of the first things that other people notice. But with so many companies targeting the huge followings that back these celebrities, we decided to dig a little deeper to find out if the bleaching tools were really worth the hype and if their claims of whiter, brighter, teeth were true.
A lot of the 'light' accelerated systems on the Internet do not do anything."

In order for stains to be lifted from the surface of teeth there are key additives that must be included in gels. It is scientifically proven that the added light does nothing without the photocatalytic ingredient
Photo-what? A photo-catalyst is a substance that triggers a chemical reaction. In order to get a better understanding of exactly what this means, "Without a photo-catalyst such as ferrous gluconate [found in professional dental treatments like Philips Zoom], zinc oxide, or titanium dioxide, the light does nothing."

So, while shopping for the best stain removers, double check to see if they include one of the photo-catalysts in their elixirs.READ MORE HERE

Family / Reasons Why Regular Dental Visits Should Be In Your Family Priorities In 2018 by dentalchannelng: 12:35pm On Jan 15, 2018
CATCH THE PROBLEMS YOUNG
One of the most beneficial things you can experience if you frequently visit the dentist is that, he or she will be able to tell you about minor problems that you can inexpensively and easily take care of .
The earlier you get a hole filled, for example, the longer the filling will last and the better your overall health.
If you delay or ignore getting a hole filled while it’s small and without any symptom whatsoever, it would cost significantly more to get it fixed when it needs more advanced treatment a few years down the road.
The earlier the better if you make it one of your priorities this new year.

goldedprince:

Yes the patient is in pain. Did your pain stop after filling? Did they do a good job? Do you mind sharing the clinic location if you are in Lagos
there is a place of patients' peculiarities. dentists do not fill all teeth with pains. there are a number of factors they consider before rolling out treatment options.
you may have pain in a tooth and get it filled , or get the root canals of the teeth treated, the teeth can be removed or cleaned with medicament and drugs
so, you need not to compare prices of treatment without having a diagnosis and treatment plan.

there are many causes of such type of discolouration. The good news is that your case can be attended to and you would get your smile of confidence back provided you do the needful.
