First uninstal the Mcafee from your laptop

Then instal this http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ - this is to clean and remove all the nasties(you will be surprised)pls do full system scan.

Afterwards, instal this antivirus called AVIRA http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/ . It might want you to register during installation, pls ignore.

It automatically updates itself everyday to counteract latest virus definitions. I have been using these softwares for about 3yrs, so I can vouch for them.

In my own opinion, I dont think you have to go out of your way to pay for antivirus. The free ones will definitely do better than Mcafee anyway.
