ProWalker:
This is is what people have been saying all these years on Nairaland when Iboes come here to say Yorubas and Northerners are the ones sabotaging the Eastern ports.

Meanwhile, the people causing problems there are the likes of Don Wanny of this world, militants that are ready to shoot down the whole crew members on a vessel, the security men conniving with illegal bunkers and a gamut of criminals hiding in creeks and waters in that axis.
Who are the thugs, miscreants, crooks and criminals causing the insecurities in that part of the country in the first place? Are they not people from that part of the country?

Who are the criminal elements kidnapping people? Are they not criminals from that part of the country?

Who is blowing up oil and maritime installations in that part of the country? Are they not the same people from that part of the country?

Who are the pirates wrecking havoc on maritime ships and activities in that part of the country? Are they not the same people from that part of the country?

Who are the criminals bankrolling instability in that part of the country? Are they not like clowns like cult loving and machete-wielding clowns Wike?

The only idea of security and government measure is the same money in and money disappear approach where they pass out funds to pacify the same criminal elements responsible for the lawlessness in the first place.

Billions of dollars and free money several administrations pumped into that region in form of amnesty payments and ransom went into private pockets and Amaechi's money is heading into the same pockets.

No security moves or apparatus can eliminate the social problems, joblessness and the criminal elements in that region.

Even worthless and crooked Jona taking maritime securities from the Nigerian Navy and handing it over with billions of dollars to terrorists and criminals like Tompolo showed how greasy, corrupt, senseless and incompetent people from that region are.

Very sad..

However, of greater significance also is the disclosure that the oil field holds untapped reserves of about 650 billion cubic feet (bcf), which if harnessed in two to three years’ time, could supply Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, all the gas feedstock it needs for the thermal power stations and other manufacturing concerns domiciled in the state and its environs.

The subsea installation activities had been underway at Aje since January and were completed in early March, ready for the hook up of the Front Puffin Floating Production Storage Offshore (FPSO), which arrived in Nigeria on March 16.

Politics › PDP Squandered Our Resources In The Worst Form Of Impunity- Utomi by deomelllo(op): 4:31am On Feb 22, 2018
UROWAYINO WARAMI

21 FEB 2018

Nigeria’s foremost political economist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Pat Utomi has rated the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration high, noting that it will take time to address sixteen years of PDP rot, which left the country in ruin.

Utomi stated this while responding to a question on why Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of change promised by the APC government. He explained that socio-economic change is a gradual phenomenon and it is not automatic.

He further stated that if Nigerians take a critical look at where PDP left the country, the level of impunity and unprecedented looting, Nigerians will rather commend the President’s efforts.

“If you remember where we are coming from, you will give Buhari government acclamation and commendation”, he said, stressing that sixteen years of PDP rule virtually left Nigeria in ruin and retrogression.

“The country was under a highly corrupt and incompetent system; our resources squandered by a few political office holders in the worst form of impunity and recklessness ever seen in Africa’s most populous nation.”

“Yes there are challenges of governance under the present administration, but Buhari has shown commitment and sincerity to effect a resounding change in social, economic and political development of Nigeria.

“He remains a man of integrity, self-discipline and modesty with a high sense of moral rectitude. These are the cardinal attributes of a good leader.

He added, “We are enthused that he is the President of Nigeria at this time. He is on a rescue mission. He does not pay lip service to patriotism.

While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support Mr President on his mission to re-order the country, he enjoined Nigerians to also pray for Buhari to succeed.

“Buhari is passionate about the progress and survival of Nigeria. Every reasonable Nigerian should support him. He deserves all good will because he is not a corrupt and irresponsible leader,” he added.

Approaching Okpoko market through thick smog on the back of an okada (motorcycle taxi), the natural reaction is to cover your nose to protect yourself from the dust storm – but the effort is futile.

When a lorry zooms past, kicking up yet another red cloud of dirt, a trader turns the head of a sleeping toddler away from the road, a protective act that is as poignant as it is pointless.

This is a typical day in the southern Nigerian port city of Onitsha – which last year gained notoriety when it was ranked the worst city in the world for the staggering levels of PM10 particulate matter in its air.

Onitsha’s mean annual concentration was recorded at 594 micrograms per cubic metre by the World Health Organization – massively exceeding the WHO’s annual guideline limit for PM10s of 20μg/m3.

PM10 refers to coarse dust particles between 10 and 2.5 micrometres in diameter, while PM2.5s are even finer and more dangerous when inhaled, settling deep in a person’s lungs. Sources of both include dust storms, gases emitted by vehicles, all types of combustion, and industrial activities such as cement manufacturing, construction, mining and smelting. Onitsha scores highly on most of the above – as do other rapidly growing Nigerian cities such as Kaduna, Aba and Umuahia, all of which also featured in the WHO’s 20 worst offenders for PM10s.

In Onitsha’s very busy Okpoko market, my air quality monitor registers 140 for PM10s and 70 for PM2.5s – all way over recommended healthy levels, but still nothing compared to the readings triggered in other parts of this densely populated commercial and industrial hub.

The entire vicinity of the market is perpetually dusty, as wood-sellers saw lumber into different shapes and sizes. The air here is made worse by all the fine sand particles that fly off the back of trucks as they visit one of the many dredging companies on the bank of the River Niger, just behind the wood market.
