ObaIgwe1:
1. Chinese Yuan being all time low is not necessarily bad for China, especially at this time of Trade war. Most time China deliberately bring down the value of Yuan. The goal is to make Chinese products cheaper for exports.

2. Of what use is an economic team to Trump when he believes he knows more than the experts and he alone can solve problems?

3. Yes China/Chinese exporters don't pay any tariff to Nigeria and no country pay any tariff whatsoever, but importers of these goods pay the tariff and the cost would be passed down to the consumers. Make no mistake about it, no West African nation charge as much as Nigeria on imports. Or why do you think cars and other imported commodities are cheaper in Cotonou and smugglers takes big risk to smuggle these goods through our porous bother? The problem with many Nigerians is that they prefer imported goods to 'show off' even when better qualities are made in Nigeria. But then it's their money, if they can afford it, let then flex it. But be rest assured the Government collect heavy duties on these imports. Nigeria Customs brings in one of the highest revenue to Govt after oil revenue, despite all the corruption in the system.

4. Don't mistake over bloated ego for balls.
In uk, I pay tarrif for American goods.
I love e made in American but they are not accessible and some are deliberately made not to work. I have been a victim multiple times.
Have complained about it years prior to this.
I don't bother looking into American markets for anything.

And I buy some goods that are from America that is made not to work in uk yet they are sold in pounds. You don't know what you are talking about.

I can easily buy stuff from China direct than from America.

Why is it so since you know best?

As for the rest, I am not interested in them.

Trump is milking liberation day fir all it's worth . Over 70 countries have called scheduling for negotiations

Bessent notes at the request of President Trump, all administration officials were to pull back from commentary following the “liberation day” tariff announcement. The objective was to give all nations’ time to absorb the impact while reducing the reverberation noise.

After a few days, President Trump then began to assess the inbound communication from various country leaders and their request for renegotiation. The priority schedule permits the honest trade allies to come first in the que to the office of U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer, as approved by President Trump.

The first two countries to get listened to are.
Japan
Korea

Not China , .not the EU.
The agreements reached between Japan and Korea will set the baseline for any further dealsxeith other countries
Korea is nothing without America. Expected them to be among the first.

China needs US dollars. But the US just made it difficult for them to obtain that dollar with Tariff. American importers will seek cheaper alternatives. Rather than masturbating to the news, Nigeria should make itself more attractive of an export partner so they can benefit.

China has been benefiting from trade deficit since I was born. That is why Chinese goods seem cheap, but the truth is that any good coming from American is taxed at an unbelievable level, making it more expensive
Oh my God, who are you? shocked

You understand international economics very well.
I love people like you. No pun.

Explicitly explained

China is still enjoying the developing nation benefits.

Chinese products killed manufacturing in Nigeria.
We will rather buy their cheap products than manufacture as their is cheaper.
No tarrif ever. Nigeria is their dumping ground. So also other countries.
Democrats out of greed sold out their country for penny from China. This is the consequence. China is about to become number one world power while enjoying massive benefits other countries don't enjoy.

Yes, china does have the population. But do you believe that Chinese people don't use iPhone? They still buy their Xioami and other chinese phones. Even when they buy iPhone, it's the knock-off version. They patronize Chinese product rather than Western.

But in America, everyone is using an iPhone. And that money goes back to China to enrich their economy. So can you see? Now There are hundreds of American companies in China doing the same thing.

Even in Nigeria it's the same. All the money we get from Oil goes to importing from China. But China hardly imports from us. We have a huge trade deficit with China but we no get mouth to do anything. They still prefer to buy their stuffs before they buy ours. Americans will buy Nigerian food, buy our oil, damn nearly buy our culture.

Americans are just big spenders like that. But Chinese are more of buying from their own.

Let me even make you understand more, even when it comes to yahoo, which client will you prefer to have? American Client or Chinese client? There goes your answer. grin grin grin

Americans established or supported several missionary schools in Nigeria over several decades, can Chinese missions show us their own input outside of buying and selling including producing our garri in China to sell to our diaspora community across the world, killing our tiny local farms.
China pay nothing to Nigerian govt as tarrif for all their good that has flooded Nigerian market over the years. Manufacturers suffer the consequences which means no workforce as they can't compete.
Rather, it's the importers that bears the burden

Nebraska (a farming state) has a workforce of over 60% illegal immigrants who work in their farms at less than minimum wage. Nebraskans voted massively for Trump and the moment he was announced as winner, the migrant workers packed up and fled the state. Now farmers are lamenting that their farms are failing, no one wants to work those jobs at such wages. Forecasters have predicted the state might go bankrupt before middle of this year if the situation remains like this. These undocumented migrants offer cheap labour, pay taxes, don't get any retirement or social security benefits from the government but trump and his goons will ignore all this and be shouting Laken Riley all over the place as if serial killers and mass shooters are undocumented immigrants.
Americans think that some certain jobs are beneath them.
Why are they lamenting. Pay minimum wages and legal migrants will do the jobs.
Why should they underpay workers? That's crazy. What we have in Nigeria and China. Because of cheap labours, illegals should flood America? In a couple of years to come, those illegals will overpower the legals and take over. Anarchy already loading. America is slipping from number 1 to number 2. Once they lose it, they will ne er get it back. Americans are promoted slave trade.

Or we have all finally calmed down. The world is shaking cos of introduction of tarrifs by America on their goods entering America. America is not a dumping ground.
You think trump don't have an assembly of economic teams who he discusses everyday before he come up with what he is doing?

If Nigeria has a president with 10% of Trump's ball, Nigeria will be heaven on earth. For your country to go towards the right direction, you should not be afraid to ruffle feathers. Everybody will automatically adjust.

What is currently happening is called the invisible hands in economics.

Let me use Nigeria versus China as an example.
Do chinese exporters pay tarrifs to Nigeria?
No. Infact, I don't think any country pays tarrif to Nigeria. The people who bear the blunt are Nigerian importers.

Have we seen what is happening to Nigerian economy?
That's why their goods are flooded in Nigerian market and cheaper too. What are the effects on our manufacturers. We all know. Because Nigerian govt don't care, industries keep shutting down one after the other. We import virtually everything. We don't export anything.
This is how currency gets weaker. Naira is ordinary paper now. One of the world's worst currency.

If subsequent governments have do e the needful, you and I debating here will be visiting for holiday only. We now have an economy where the purchasing power is so weak cos it has no strength and the people have no where to work.
More yahoo,rituals, kidnapping name them.

America may not reach this level but will eventually if something is not done about it and that is when you will see the jackals and hyenas pounce on once the powerful America. They are more daring now. E get why.

For those of you who are hating on what Trump's doing, you might be out of work in the next 10yrs if care is not taken. Empires rise and fall. Do not think America will not fall. It will if you guys keep on resisting change and advocating for things that don't benefit America.

This is simple economics 101. We shouldn't be debating it.

Give kudos to this man when he says America first and act it. Stop the hate. It's ridiculous.

I like him cos he got balls. It take a man with iron balls to rule a country successfully. Reminds me of late Margaret Thatcher of United kingdom. She was the best prime minister ever. If united kingdom had prime ministers like her after her tenure, the nation will still be standing tall. But, all others were afraid to ruffle feathers and ..........

If American market is not buying your products you are not going far, but these countries don't want America to sell to them to protect their own economy they place a tariff on American goods coming into their own country

The trade off is cheap goods in America vs Employment for people in America
The tarrifs are terrible.
There some stuffs I will want to buy from America. The tarrifs sometimes runs in double digits. Most are more than the price of what I wanted to buy. I can easily buy the same thing from South korea with very little tarrif.

If you want to know what's going on, ask people living in other countries who love made in American products what scares them away. Tax.

Americans can't do those meagre jobs anymore so illegal immigrants come to fill the qouta. Those that can, their companies are not protected You have to lobby for the govt of the day and media houses to shield you. Don't pay your due and they will slit your throat. Companies ran to where they are appreciated and recognised. The explosion of Chinese economy. I was so disappointed when I read iPhone is manufactured in China.
Nigerians hate Chinese goods then and call them chinco not knowing their precious iPhone is also chinco.

When ninja products flooded the market, I thought they were chinese but it's an American company that has nothing to do with America. Everything is done in china.
They lead a revolution against popular brands in̈ home appliances and the rest is yet to get their bearing. And guess what, their products are very cheap.
You see why I said the country had to sit down and know what they want. Also, as they are in china, they also target african markets especially Nigeria. What other American companies can never do.
For example, Nigeria buy things cash. No mortgage. A win win for manufacturers. Same with other african countries but of course, they looked down on Africa. China didn't do that. Checkout what china make in Africa on average yearly.
