Just need getting use it. Eating is mindset and psychological. 100% psychological. We are conditioned to eat big meal from childhood and since all we eat is carbohydrate,we have concluded that it's either big carb or nothing. And eating large equals better life and more energy. Carbs are sugar. Sugar is more addictive than hard drugs and alcohol . Then the stereotype that a man and woman must have flesh. Flesh to wear naija big man and woman clothes |

nairalanda1: Training that would be of use when the time comes Will they b sent for training? A retired Nigerian general from one of the eastern States has 2 sons, one joined the military through their secondary school, the other want to genuinely be a soldier but was born abroad. The one born abroad travelled to the country he was born and joined their military. The other studied a course that is not needed in Nigerian Army and left. The grudge of these gentlemen is they don't want to pass through what their father passed through in the hands of Nigerian army. They were born and brought up in the system but hated the system due to high level of marginalisation. The time that man became a general, Nigerian army had no choice but to promote him and that was towards retirement. Not up to 6 months,he was retired. Why join something that treats you like trash. As years go by, more and more people from the east lost interest in these cos they don't give them equal opportunities like they give others and their kit and kin in the system are being treated unfairly. |

Mccollins042: Nigerian Army sends 1000 soldiers to sambisa to fight BH: 800 from SE, 80 from SW, 100 from SS, 20 from the entire north
Nigerian army sends 500 soldiers to the US on a special training: 150 from NW, 100 from NE, 70 from NC, 70 from SW, 50 from SE, 60 from SS. You aptly summarised it. Nothing more to add |

Mindlog: It truly does not make sense.
What will an Igbo young man or woman benefit from joining the Nigerian army?
How much is the pay?
What is the realistic career progression like?
How will he be better off than his kinsman who focused on learning a trade or craft?
Who wants to sacrifice sons that will be sent to go fight terrorists and bandits, while politicians and their fronts are making money from the insecurity, their own children living comfortably abroad?
Had a relative who signified interest last year, to join the Army as a recruit. I discouraged him, got him enrolled for apprenticeship in shoe making in Aba and assured him that at the end of his apprenticeship, I will help him set up his own. Do you know how many reached the rank of general before ihejirika and Jonathan? That was why there was a massive outcry against them cos they tried to balance the qouta. Eventually, they were sent packing. And when posting to departments, .....see, I have a lot to say about the Nigerian service force. They should stop sending political court here There was a time a whole imo state has one general. Promotion is zero. Even those that were sent to represent ecomog, their money miss road. |

nairalanda1: 2014 again
One reason why I say that tinubu is just doing what his predecessors did, and why we have never had good leaders in Nigeria....is the simple fact that all of them have run resource dependent economies.
I have been on Awo's case for some time...Awo, and his fellow premiers Bello and Azikiwe, all of them had one thing in common...they used the funds from the resources they sold to 'develop' their regions.
There is nothing wrong with that. The problem was that it essentially made our economies dependent on price controls from oversease. Cotton, cocoa, palm oil, etc...their prices are set abroad. Not set by us. It also meant that when oil came along, we were in the perfect position to fall into its trap.
Today, our economy is 80% dependent on oil. Yes, it is. 80% of our revenues come from oil. And when oil prices are high, things look good, when they fall, things look bad. But the truth is, they have been bad...all the time.
One thing I would like to tell Nigerians is that, until you are ready to vote for a government that would use what we have to develop stuff the world needs, you will never have good governance. Harsh truth, but will mouths that have been feeding off this allow that to happen? |

cococandy: Say what you will about Newsom but he cares for Californians and goes to bat for us. We don’t worship him and we don’t agree 100% with everything he does. But that’s the marking of a democracy not a cult worshiping system.
People forget that during Covid, he bypassed the federal government to get our hospital workers N95 masks. Donated ventilators to other states (including red ones) while their governors were busy scratching their heads and propagandizing a disease outbreak.
Largest economy in the USA and 5th in the world for a reason California can as well opt out of America and become their own country since they are very rich to go against what benefits their country cos the president is a republican and Trump. Sometimes one wonder the type of federalism America practices. Let us oppose for opposition sake. |
