BanditC:
What exactly is South-South?

Is it the same people who are butchering themselves over the ownership of a small landmass called warri?

Ijaws despise Itsekiri, Isoko won't ever agree with Urhobo, Opobo curses the day he ended up on the same rock as Ikwerre.

You so called South-south people are clowns that can't even accept each other but are always quick to declare yourselves unique by mouthing off South-South at any given opportunity.

While I do not really care about the Biafran project until those who champion it's course become learned and intellectual lot who are quite versed in international laws of creating a nation and not okada riders and traders, I believe if it ever came to pass, the so called South-south would finish each other off due to the amount of animosity they harbour for each other prior to any phantom, dreaded Igbo group dominating them.

Igbos have been the most stable folk in this Nigerian entity for generations who have never waged war against each other even when the collective nationalism was non-existent and when Igbo groups lived autonomously and independent of each other and I do not see that changing.

One thing is certain, with the advance of the Hausa-Fulani onslaught coming, which will undoubtedly happen, Igbos might end up being the last bastion of hope and defence for most of these smaller southern tribes that naively believe oil resources have suddenly made them political and ethnic juggernauts.

That is why I have totally become indifferent to this unanimous support of Jonathan by Igbos. I somehow secretly wish that the Coup-plotting, democracy-robbing Islamist wins the upcoming polls so that this so called south-south would witness first hand their fate.

EducationRe: Thread For PHD Students by Descartes:
all4naija:
I am not derailing the thread for speaking out against what I find disturbing about the use of English language to make sentences by the Nigerian PhD holders on this thread The truth that we keep hiding the problems of our society and expect them to just go away without finding solutions won't help matters. Not until we come out and stand against all forms of failure to say the truth about the education system of that country we aren't going to see a huge progress in that section. Those are among the things destroying the fabric of that nation. It is what I am trying to point out in the whole heated argument. Mind you, I didn't insult anybody.

However, I agree with you that there is more to be done about the state of the Nigerian universities which award those PhD certificates. They haven't produced world class people we can really be proud of as people. From a reasonable perspective we need to do something because the wealth of a nation is its educated citizenry. With what we have on hand in Nigeria, looking at what PhD holders have written on this thread, I don't think we can be able to build the future wealth of that nation. It is very sad to see such a thing happening in a society we all pride as the GIANT of Africa. I am ashamed to say that.

Thank you.

PoliticsRe: We Voted Buhari In 2011 But 2015 Is For Jonathan...see Why (PIC) by Descartes: 1:58am On Dec 19, 2014
In the final analysis, it is simply the height of hypocrisy for anyone to say Buhari and the APC represent any semblance of the kind of change Nigerians deserve. I need to be schooled on how Buhari is expected to fight corruption when the very people who are financing him are an embodiment of the very thing. It is becoming clearer that the change mantra is only about the interests of certain individuals as against the generality of Nigerians. Certainly, this variant of change is a Greek gift nicely wrapped in a box of hypocrisy; one that is tempting enough to force a change in the hands that hold the knife slicing off the Nigerian national cake. However, it is one gift that ought to repulse every right thinking Nigerian. As William Hazlitt once surmised, hypocrisy is the only vice that cannot be forgiven. If corruption is defined as a failure of systems, l completely consent that it is a national malaise and its resolution is non-negotiable. However, what l oppose is change for the sake of it ; in this case swapping one corrupt administration with another, without a deliberate attempt to address the fundamental issues that would make a definite difference.
Very apt, needless to say more smiley

Definitely not.. Now lets look this on a state by state basis.. (South West only)
OSun state voted for Ribadu irrespective of Tinubu's directive for all agent to back down in 2011..Am most certain Buhari would also nick it this time around. No Tinubu Factor
Oyo state, the Governor is still battling for his Soul here, i school in I.B, the body language of the people over here is surely in favour of Buhari..and also the incumbent has little say on this, he himself is not safe yet... No Tinubu Factor
Lagos state, surely here Tinubu call the shot but i stil believe that irrespective of Tinubu's Sellout, the general should be able to get a respectable amount of vote..Possible Tinubu Factor
Ondo State-Here Mimiko has successfully brandish tinubu as An "Ajele" who wants to impose his stooge on the state because of their oil.. No Tinubu Factor here too
Ekiti-I believe the people of Ekiti voted fayose not because fayemi has not done well but because he refused to share the money. They wanted a Man of the people which sadly Tinubu does not represent.
You have a point though but just pointed out where you got it wrong on his influence on the side of Lagos state cos he is still in charge of Lasgidi.

Thanks for your responses so far.

Tinubu's influence have been extremely reduced with the surge in Buhari's popularity..He has little or no power to decide where the pendulum swings this time around.. It's not a lagos governorship election where he decides who and who goes to this or that post...
N.B
it was glaring that GEJ was going to win the 2011 election, pple voted for him base on Pity and with an absolute trust in him, it was not because of Tinubu's sellout.. That i believe...

Do you know Tinubu has the largest political structures in the present day Nigeria especially in the Southwest region?

He knows Buhari and his antecedents right from the Military era. And Buhari might attempt to tame him if he eventually climbs the Aso Rock stool.

Let's see how it goes cos this game is meant for the political wizards who are certified propagandists, blackmailers, backstabbers, grassroot mobilizers and lobbyists which Buhari and GEJ lack. embarassed embarassed
