Science/Technology / Re: Made-In-Aba Stove That Obtains Its Fuel From Cassava Leaf (Photos) by desire19a: 10:45pm On Oct 20, 2016
henryanna36:
Aba is like the China of Nigeria.According to information shared on social media by Eastern Telegraph,a made in Aba bio fuel is currently in the market. The stove obtains its fuel from cassava leaf.Below is what Eastern Telegraph shared....

'A smart bio fuel stove, fabricated in the commercial city of Aba in South East Nigeria has made a rousing market entrance.

The chairman of the Agricultural Innovation Platform, Kalu Ichie Kalu who spoke at the Innovation Platform Workshop in Keffi on Thursday, October 20, 2016, which was organised by the Agricultural Transformation Support Programme, phase one (ATASP-1) under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development described the product as "an credible alternative to kerosene, firewood and gas."

"It's clean energy. One of the innovation in the stove is that 100% of the raw materials are locally-sourced, while the fuel is made from cassava leaf. The price of the stove is N5, 500, while a litre of the fuel is N200. A litre of the fuel burns for 6 hours."

The challenge is that production is still manual, so they will need "support to mechanise our production processes and produce like 25,000 litres per day" Uche said'

Politics / Re: Nigerians In The US Protest: "Prosecute El-Zakzakky Now" (Photos) by desire19a: 12:56am On Oct 20, 2016
reportnaija:
Nigerians living in the US under the banner of the Movement of the People of Nigeria on Monday held a protest against the non-prosecution of IMN Leader, Mr Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky at the United Nations Building and Nigeria House in New York City.

Addressing the protest, Cosmas Collins, the US Cordinator of the group said the Nigerian government is making a mistake by not prosecuting members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) for their acts of violence against the state and against citizens of Nigeria.

He said it is important the world is able to reassure the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that they have the world's support for nipping the growing terror of IMN in the bud.

According to him, a clear message must be sent to the government that the firmness with which it deals with the IMN threat is a matter global interest as any fallout from delay in dealing with the threat posed by the group will affect the whole world.

The result of several investigations that followed the clash between the IMN members and army last December all want the prosecution of the IMN leader, Mr Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky and all those that supported him in that insurrection.

He said, "We are therefore here to demand that the federal government and the Kaduna state government must do what the reports of NHCR and the Commission of Inquiry have recommended. Even without the prompting of the two reports the government should have done the needful by prosecuting everyone that precipitated that mayhem.

"Failure to prosecute these people, including El-Zakyzaky is making other groups think of coming out because it is now believed that it is fashionable to take on the state without consequences.

"The government must not also omit to consider bringing charges of subversion against members of the group for inviting Iranian intervention in Nigeria's internal affairs.

Disgraceful.

Politics / Re: Senators Crack Jokes Over Buhari’s Remarks On Wife by desire19a: 12:55am On Oct 20, 2016
solace2013:
AISHA BUHARI AND THE TRAGEDY OF HYPOCRISY IN NIGERIA
Dr. Doyin Odebowale writes:
I have read so much on Aisha since yesterday. Nigerians are a special breed. Suddenly, this woman is
not wanted in America! Buhari did not marry a child again. Her gold, diamond and platinum bracelets are
not topics for discussion.
We are moving out of recession indeed! Many of the hypocrites on Facebook beat their wives. Many are
so useless that they establish pepper soup joints for some useless dogs called women while their
children cannot feed at home. Many don't care about how their children school fees are paid.
Aisha is the CEO of a thriving company. One of Buhari's daughters is a lawyer. His girls are graduates.
I have read posts from some of my friends who, surprisingly, failed to see the statement credited to
Buhari as a joke. I have followed some of them on Facebook. I know most of them will not tolerate any
dissenting view from their wives.
Aisha is not in purdah. She is not confined to the kitchen, literally. I doubt if she still cooks. I would have
expected the new supporters of Aisha to ask Buhari about the location of the kitchen. Is it Aso Villa
where there exists a culinary complex?
Look at Aisha and tell us if she belongs to the category of oppressed women. The fact that she granted
the controversial interview bears eloquent testimony to Buhari's character.
She just returned from the US. That trip generated another kind of controversy. That seems not
important now.
Many of these hypocrites are not proud of their wives. Many of them pretend to love women but will
work against them.
Politicians abuse women sexually. They are play things. They only allow them when their unscrupulous
godfathers impose them and direct political slaves to vote.
Academics talk of "conference materials". These are people's wives, daughters, sisters, cousins, who
belong to everybody while pretending to be in some dubious relationships.
Lucky is she whose husband can proudly assert that she has a place in his bedroom. She is not sharing
this space with any woman to our knowledge. Buhari's religion allows him to marry four women.
If the president attempted to douse tension generated by the wife's interview, and we fail to appreciate
his joke, then our sense of humour appears morbid.
Nigerians did not elect Aisha. She has no official role in the constitution. She cannot decide on who gets
appointed into the government. If she complains that she does not know those in government, it means
Buhari cannot be accused of nepotism.
If she is pained that she is not involved in governance, that is a big plus for him. She was not on the
ballot during the last election. She should not pick ministers and heads of agencies for us.
Is this not part of the change we crave?
Hypocrisy is not a virtue.

Dyt:
City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and forward Nolito are expected to feature at the Nou Camp but midfielder Yaya Toure, another former Barcelona player, is not in Guardiola's 21-man squad.

Forward Kevin de Bruyne is fit again, while club captain Vincent Kompany came off the bench against Everton on Saturday to make his second appearance of the season.

Barca have not lost at home in 17 Champions League matches, and welcomed Lionel Messi back from a groin injury in Saturday's 4-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Asked what advice he can give defenders to deal with Messi, Guardiola said: "I don't know. It is so difficult to control the talent, we know that. It's a good test for us to compete at one of the best teams."

Enrique said defenders Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto had both overcome injuries and were in contention.

Sports / Re: More Was Expected From Pogba Against Liverpool-mourinho by desire19a: 12:49am On Oct 20, 2016
Peacelover77:
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho said he expected more from French midfielder, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their Monday night 0-0 draw against Liverpool.

The manager has criticised midfielder’s lack of impact in the game, saying “I was expecting more penetration where Pogba was playing.”

The Red Devils defended outstandingly but left a lot to be desired in attack.

Mourinho noted that the Frenchman was relatively anonymous in attack and believes it was part of his team’s problem, also noting the golden opportunity Ibrahimovic failed to head on target midway through the second half.

He told Sky Sports, “Had it been 1-0, it would have been finished.

“Where Pogba was playing, I was expecting more penetration.

“Defensively we did really well, we should have had a little bit more. We had a big chance that I thought Zlatan was going to score.

“It was a very difficult game for us and for them. More difficult game for them than us. We started really well and were completely in control.

“The game was completely under control. We controlled very well the emotions of the game. We could influence the crowd. They were waiting for an easy match.”

Man Utd will be up against a rejuvenated Chelsea at the Stanford Bridge next weekend after Europa League clash at Old Trafford against Fenerbahce Thursday.
