I am not sure if they accept tuition deposit. All they need is your ability to pay the tuition and sufficient leaving expenses for at least one year.
If you can play your card well you can get a full scholarship with monthly stipend, especially for MSc. and Ph.D.
You don't have to go anywhere to get the visa, just apply through VFS. Thank God, now you can apply for temporary resident permit (TRP) directly without going through National Visa first before TRP, as in my case!

Here is the check list.

1. Completed and signed application for for Schengen (https://visa.vrm.lt/epm)
2. Valid travel document (valid passport)
3. Recent actual color ID photograph
4. Travel medical insurance (for Schengen) EUR 30,000 minimum coverage (30 to 40K naira in Nigeria)
5. Flight reservation or proof of intended transport
6. Mediation letter (to be requested from the University you got the admission)
7. Letter of admission
8. Attested certificates and transcripts of studies.
9. Proof of financial means or scholarship
10. Proof of prepayment of studies
11. Proof of accommodation (request from your university if it's not indicated on the admission letter.
12. Criminal record certificate (from the Nigerian police)

The most difficult part is getting the appointment slot on VFS, I will advise you to be checking religiously towards the months ends and the beginning of months.
Once you get the appointment, you will go for document verification and submission at the VFS center, later you will be called for interview (online).
After the interview, it takes between 2 to 3 weeks to get your passport back with a decision; either approved, rejected or denied.

It was free application as at when I applied.

No. Details in your Passport will be used throughout the process and a change in that will alter the whole process.

For Belgium:
1. Originals 1 set- all legalized documents/ legalization receipts and printouts, passport, 2 print out of visa application forms, admission letter, blocked account.
2. Photocopies- 2 set of every document above .
NB- you need 5 coloured photocopies of passport data page. 2 each for the 2 set of photocopied document above and 1 to be given back to you as document to show at point of collecting back your passport either from the UPS or the vsf centre. I had only 4, so used a black and white one for this purpose.
3. The only thing submitted as single copy is the medical report as you cannot open it.
4. No police report or foreign office payment required for us based on age.

We were in VSF Lagos yesterday for submission/capturing. Told them we had everything in the list and extra and the guy said submit everything!
So gave letter from current school in Nigeria (A levels) and hotel booking.

A notary notarized mine for 10k, you could explore that option. Its faster as well, I got the document back the same day.

I think it’s always multiplied by 12 months.

VFS follows the checklist exactly. They will not ask for any other document that is not on the checklist. Just make sure your documents are legalized properly and everything is complete.
After the submission and your documents reach the embassy, they will reach out if they need any other thing.
But you won't be asked for things like ticket reservations etc.

It’s pretty straight forward. Use Google search for a university and course. Most universities use dream id, one of the best online application platforms.
