PoliticsRe: Restructuring Nigeria: Full Speech Of Ohaneze Leader Nnia Nwodo At Cattham House by Develpeast: 1:01pm On Sep 29, 2017
What we igbos should be doing is push for a PPP project on the ibaka seaport. Fund it and use it. Drive the economy of akwa ibom because it is the next best thing to happen and the only people who should dominate the economy should be the igbos.

We do not have any reason to be stupid. Igboland is surrounded with states that collects the highest amount of revenue from the government. Creating a commercial hub with more than 5million "foot soldiers" businessmen will drive the economy of the east. We do not need a new country to drive this. Bring the attention to the east and every body will love to spend their monies there.

We should as a matter of urgency stop alienating ourselves from the golds and diamonds those around us want to throw away, we can give them a destination they have been looking for.
PoliticsRe: Restructuring Nigeria: Full Speech Of Ohaneze Leader Nnia Nwodo At Cattham House by Develpeast: 12:57pm On Sep 29, 2017
With the east standing as the commercial epicentre for more than 60 million nigerians living in it and around it. We do not have any excuse not to leverage on the advantage and make use of these numbers. If other people are using the positivity of a particular situation to create wealth, we igbos do not have any tangible reasons to wail, wait and cry until anything is done for us.

The ibaka seaport is there and ready for consumption, none of these people are looking for ways to "kolobi" it, but we will wait until northerners have taken their shares in monopolizing it and we start wailing of how the northerners are using the resources of the south to enrich the north. For goodness sake, the ibaka seaport is not more than 25 minutes from aba with a good road network which is same as tincan port to lekki. We should as matter of fact "kolobi" the seaport as our own share of the national treasures so as to reduce the weight we keep giving the lagos government.
PoliticsRe: Restructuring Nigeria: Full Speech Of Ohaneze Leader Nnia Nwodo At Cattham House by Develpeast: 12:52pm On Sep 29, 2017
The yorubas have the odua group which is doing the needful in attracting foreign investment into southwest, hate them or love them, they are not waiting till the hausas accept restructuring before they start doing anything. Ohaneze Ndigbo is the laziest group of all geopolitical groups, they call for different meetings and conferences without any tangible change in the economy of the east and to a large extent igboland.

Having meetings in chatham house and other houses doesnt change the fact that the eastern economy is not getting better, until we stop pointing fingers outside and look inside before we can have any tangible development.
PoliticsRe: Restructuring Nigeria: Full Speech Of Ohaneze Leader Nnia Nwodo At Cattham House by Develpeast: 12:48pm On Sep 29, 2017
Mr Nnia Nwodo should as a matter of fact stop lecturing people who have stop thinking and let us think for ourselves. If restructuring is we trying to generate funds from within ourselves and drive our local economy to a record high, then we should as matter of fact start the restructuring without the federal government.

These people will not restructure until it is to their own advantage. We do not need these people to restructure, we need to start restructuring some aspects of our lives and wait for them to restructure the less important aspects of governance.

CultureRe: Thread For Igbos by Develpeast(op): 11:54am On Sep 27, 2017
The development of the eastern region has been stagnant to say the least since the last 47 years to say the least, with some states retrogressing while some states refusing to expose the true state of the economy of the east. We are faced with huge numbers of our young adults and adolescents leaving the region enmasse to different parts of the country for better opportunities. Some of them who schooled in the east do not waste time but carry their bags with them as soon as they finish their final papers to leave the states.

What is the major amenities or social infrastructure that the region is missing that makes it seemingly impossible for young igbos to stay back in the region? Do we have any programme or plan to make those things available in the region? If they have, which state has started it?
CultureThread For Igbos by Develpeast(op): 11:39am On Sep 27, 2017
This thread is directed to my igbo brothers. I have been searching for pro-igbo groups with huge number of users but the only one I saw and tried to join was igboist group. They have not allowed me to join the group since I made the request. We had one in omambala, I really do not know what happened to the website because it was doing fine then until it became inaccessible.

It is difficult for us to have a serious conversation here due to the fact that since the whole biafran imbroglio, we have been distracted with tribal e-wars that we have refused to discuss cogent topics that will help us bring back the igboland into limelight.

I have a friend in cumbak60, sincerely I really love this guy's passion for doing the right thing. He dedicated his time in pushing for something substantial in the chase of the development of the eastern region. I believe I owe him an apology due to my lackadaisical attitude towards his passion.

I have had other people with such passion sent me private messages and calling for an action to be taken to finally solve these problems in the east and create an economic plan for the east. Some of them we have talked at length and to be candid with you, they have been nothing less than geniuses. Every young igbo man and woman have this feeling that the east should be better than what it is today. Being one of the founding ethnic groups of this country, we should not be operating at the level we are operating from a collective point of view. The situation is more dire than most of you are seeing it.

I am not here to write long epistles that will shake the group because many people in the past have done that but we all just clap and continue with our lives but I am here to gather as much people as I can to pursue this dream. I am presently trying to contact many elites which we will be working with. We will need to draft a workable plan that will ensure that our dream with not end in our minds but translated into reality.

It all depends on how big your dream is. There was a guy named lyn90, I do not know where he is at the moment but he was a smart fellow. His thoughts were something else while his plans were big. If anyone knows where he is, please kindly tell him that he can send me a private message because I really need such minds around.

To the rest that we have not communicated, please, I will really like to know the content in your heads. I think if we came together and discuss various issues, we can come out with concrete idea of what we are facing and come out with the best solutions.

I am coming back to field some questions while you answer. I will surely send you a dm when we come across that your points and knowledge is golden and we will help you document your points. We are going to create a confidential document which will be sent to all igbo stakeholders to know that the era of playing politics is gone but the time has come for us to follow a particular economic plan to save the igbos from losing everything before the next 50years.

I wish you all participate fully in this mini-programme I am about to embark on in this forum because truly speaking, your knowledge and information will be of highest importance in solving major problems in the east. The work has been going on, we just need more energetic people in pushing our dreams forward.

cc: pchukwudi, lozanni, cumbak60, lyn90, attackgat, amarabae, phut, prodigy90, nwabobo,

I will check names of other igbo men and women in this forum. If you are uncomfortable with your name listed above, just mention it and I will remove it.

Be civil as much as possible please.

Will you shut up! When did the south east got their niger bridge to enable them to come to Lagos en mass? It was in the 50's! And Lagos was already a metropolis city prior to the time. In fact, we never needed your wheel barrowing and Fan yogo of brothers to disrupt the orderliness of the city.

For your info, Only Ikoyi was Nigeria's federal capital, the other LG were under the SW regional province! The Ikeja you see today was developed by our leaders, not your stupid leaders! Even while the british was here, much of the proceeds/revenues came from the SW yet we never bat any eyes when they built seaports in today SS. The british built 1 seaport in the west as well as 2 seaports in the then Eastern part but today you SE clowns would have us believe it was Oil revenues that built the sea port. We were not the one that cursed your region to be landlocked because the SS have their own seaports which are now 3 and they are functioning quite well.

So shove your stupid opinion in your ass.
Are you done?

Point of correction. The guy made some assertions and I pointed out the fact that those assertions were not the only reasons why the SW was more developed. You can see that he now had to reach for additional information which was not part of his original post, in order to further expantiate on his position.

You on the other hand, have not added anything new, sensible or valuable to the discussion. I will be back to respond to the guy once I am through with my work.

But I will dismiss you totally from henceforth because your words reek of infantile rants. You just paraphrased what Obi1kenobi said because you have nothing of importance to contribute. Now buzz off .
Sincerely speaking if you think you are smarter, then I will field you on a fateful day and discuss whatever aspect or area of life you feel you are smartest. I really do not want to engage in this argument deeply that was why i gave the first comment but you came at me rambling.

I don't really feel like typing too much because I am presently distracted with so much work but in any case later you think you are smart, call me and let me teach some lessons.

I believe the guy engaging you in the said argument has schooled you enough.

Lagos state that was the focal point of Nigeria's activities since 1914 should not be in the same page as any other state the country. Take a cue from Abuja, do you see how different companies are erecting head offices here and there? If you have not been to Abuja, just go this weekend and see what is happening there.

Please go back into history. undecided The slave trade was abolished in 1807 when the British parliament enacted the Slave Trade Act, making it a crime for British merchants to take part in the slave trade. By 1850 Britain had drawn up anti-slavery treaties with West African traditional rulers or monarchs, to put an end to the heinous act of slave trafficking. Attention was then turned to cash crops and commodities such as palm oil, cocoa, groundnuts and palm kernels, which were exported to Europe in large quantities to make soap, and used as machine lubricants. It was even speculated that palm oil exports alone, were worth £1 billion a year by 1840. sad

Calabar was the closest port to the Igbo communities in the colonial era, and when the trade in legitimate commodities started, such products were harvested from Igbo land (especially Onitsha) and exported through Calabar ports. In fact, the Calabar protectorate was a major point for export of palm products from Igbo land to Europe. undecided Don't forget that Britain also formed the Oil Rivers Protectorate, which included the Niger Delta, and extended eastward to Calabar.

You stated that the "SW is the most prosperous region in Nigeria, because it is the most strategically located region in the country, making it historically first the contact point of colonialists and then the main trade route through land and sea with the world and other West African nations. Consequently, industries naturally and organically aggregated around it...."

I merely pointed out that Calabar also had early contact with the colonialists, and served as a major trade route by sea and land, to the rest of the world. It was also strategically located. So its' development should have been similar to Lagos, during the colonial period, not so? huh
Chai, you messed up in this above write up. Please edit
PoliticsRe: 'this Is An Igbo Wedding, We Do Not Want A Yoruba Band Here’ - Tochukwu Ezukanma by Develpeast: 9:05am On Sep 27, 2017
The writer is formular one grade of stupid. He spoke like a demented fool who needs brain re-examination in John Hopkins Hospital. What sort of idiotic write up is this? Because of an event that I do not believe it happened, he has escalated the whole igbo people. There has been many cases in weddings in Lagos where the bride and groom are igbos and they had to play Ayefele music. There has been many weddings where in a yoruba church like redeem, they had no choice than to use the a yoruba band from the choir to entertain visitors.

But the fact remains that I have not seen the reverse in any yoruba wedding either in lagos or ibadan. You can tell all the lies you wish to tell but I was born and raised in Lagos and I know what I am saying. If they do not play fuji music like in the 80's and 90's, they play other songs but not with an igbo band.

Dear brothers,

I do not care about Nigeria, they never cared for me or my family. I do not care about biafra, because it is not yet a reality. But I care about my igbo brothers and sisters because they are the only ones I have and will always live with.

Common brothers, we are young and we have many years to live in this world, should we destroy the little we have gathered because we are marginalised? should we achieve the utopian biafra after the death of another 3million people? I am not saying ipob or other groups looking for the actualisation of biafra are looking for war but we all should know that all actions have consequences, good or bad.

Igboland size might be fixed but the size of the economy isn't. We can start by building from the ruins of 1967 and have a stronger union with ourselves than fighting the people that will always kill us. How do you plan to get it? through the united nations? Have you read the united nation policy when it comes to africa and west africa in particular? I believe your answer is no, because there is none. No one cares about us except us and if we keep giving ourselves as willing sacrifice to these guys, who are we going to leave this earth for? The same elites. You should not die for anyone, even Nnamdi kanu himself, but we should live for our children and loved ones.

By living, I need us to start picking the pieces and start building with everything we have. We should as a matter of fact start creating an enabling environment for our children in the east.

Please do not think many of us are not smart. The soldiers will not just come and be causing harm on anyone. And soldiers in the 82 division are from different parts of the country, igbos inclusive. Why are you making it hausa/fulani thing. If you have any problem with soldiers, tackle the soldiers squarely and stop bringing other ethnic groups to it. Do you know that you have igbos in their millions everywhere in this country, why are you making it difficult for them? If you cannot stand the soldiers, then you should better go home and rest and stop trying to kill northerners, biko.

What is the ideology of the Eastern base Igbo that's where u should start from and not the other way round. I schooled in the east and I also witness the way they behave and carry them selves. The eastern brought ups are filled with so much hate wap ideas. They have refuse to liberate them selves with the ideas and stories handed down to them with liberality but instead they took it hook, line and sinker all at once. They want u to hate like them follow traditions that are not progressive be hostile follow the syndrome of u should make it whether hook or crook. What is the complain the Op is even making so that we can tackle it head on with him because he could not point exactly what the Lagos Igbo's have done wrong. What is wrong in speaking the Language u understand with another person that understands it too? Your Governors and traditional rulers who are Igbo custodians what have they been able to do in the east with all their Igbo wholesomeness. Lagos is progressive because of the liberality so if an Igbo Lagos brought up has caught into it leave them and face your wholesomeness as an Igbo eastern brought up. Nobody cares about that it doesn't put food on the table.
I am not hating on the eastern igbo but to say the truth, we need radical rebranding of the entire eastern region. These people need to understand there is need for forward thinking. The economic plan of the east is one of the wackest. Seriously, no real economic plan in the east. Everything happening haphazardly. For there to be meaningful development in the east, we need to really work hard to bring it home or else, biafra or not, we will remain where we are today.

I will gather every problem and solution and send it to WIC, ohaneze ndigbo, many senators, governors and as much emails I can get. We love to walk on high heels not knowing that the ground is wet.

The igbo problem is real, and in the next 20years, we might have people who identify with the igbo race.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Some Igbo Lagosians Are Problematic And Ignorant To Igbo Nation by Develpeast: 9:42am On Sep 06, 2017
We need to critically look at the young igbos who were not born in the east. They are getting their first cultural influence from the state they live. Some are becoming very loud and unintelligent as you can see in nairaland. Some do not understand the language not to talk of speaking it. Some are been brainwashed that the village is a very dangerous place. I tell you the later is rife in different diaspora families. You need to understand that the igbo problem is 70% our fault and we need to start working to kill this acculturation killing the next generation of igbos.

I have been to many geopolitical zones, I mean all the geopolitical zones, our cultural influence on these boys is diminishing very fast. We must develop a robust educational system which will make all igbo kids to have their secondary education in the east. They need to be instilled our values because, if our present fathers die now, we will be nearing extinction.

Igbos should fight the right fight and the right time.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Some Igbo Lagosians Are Problematic And Ignorant To Igbo Nation by Develpeast: 9:35am On Sep 06, 2017
What some people here are saying is pure false. Many people do not want identify with biafra because it is based utopia. A country where everything becomes wonderful and freedom is 100%. Many of these diaspora igbos are well schooled and you need a better argument than that. What I am saying is through critical research on the minds of the educated elites who are still watching from the sidelines. Igbos need to try as much as possible to engage the igbos who do not live in igboland. The present economic situation of the east doesnt look smart or nice for someone to move just like that. You will need to start telling yourselves the truth.

Like I said before now, biafra will be better if you start building it now because the vote in referendum might not really favour you if the diasporans decide to come vote against it for the fear of losing much of their assets. You need to start saying what they want to hear. engage them in the developmental process of the east, so that they can first expand their base to the east before moving fully to the east. You should not force them, it should be a natural process.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Some Igbo Lagosians Are Problematic And Ignorant To Igbo Nation by Develpeast: 9:29am On Sep 06, 2017
You are being emotional, so as other people too. I have said times without number, if they are not seeing a better or atleast the same alternative, they will not support biafra. This is a very strong problem you will get from diaspora igbos staying and making money in different parts of the country apart from igboland. These guys have grown comfortable and are making so much money. You want someone to leave his comfort zone to start all over? You have an advantage in them, that is, eat their monies. They are willing to donate millions of money to the development of igboland which will in turn look sexier for them to move. I am not just talking about lagos igbos, i am talking about the general diaspora igbos who do not live or do business in the east.

From my estimated calculation, we can generate as high as 2 trillion naira yearly if we engage these diaspora igbos in the development process of the igboland. It is when you look at the economic aspect of biafra, that many businessmen and professionals will answer you. the rest will just look at you and laugh. I am very serious.
