You can’t stop life from happening to you, but you can choose how you respond. If you hold on to the hurt, you go around dwelling on the offense, thinking, “Why did they say that about me? Why did I lose that loved one? Why did my friend walk away?” Then, you’re opening the door to bitterness. When you’re bitter, it affects every area of your life. TODAY’S WORD: John the Baptist was baptizing people and gaining a lot of attention when the Jewish leaders asked him if he was the Messiah. Without missing a beat, John said, “I am not.” It’s important to know who you are and who you’re not. If you don’t know this, you can spend your life trying to be something you’re not. Knowing what you’re not will help you stay focused on becoming who you are because there will always be pressures to be this, to be that, to be the other. If you’re trying to be something you’re not, you’ll be frustrated. There’s no grace for it. It will be a constant struggle, like it’s always uphill. When you’re you, you activate your anointing. The anointing on your life is to be who God called you to be. There’s a favor, a blessing, a grace that is unique to your life. Be confident in what you have. Keep being who God’s made you to be. PRAYER FOR TODAY: “Father, thank You that You have given me gifts and talents to fulfill my destiny, and they are different from what others have been given. Thank You for the blessing of being different and the privilege of making the most of what You’ve given me. I will be content. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.” By Joel Osteen From NaijaPage - Joel Osteen Devotional |

Religion portrays God as a harsh judge when, in fact, He is a loving Father who knows how to—and wants to—give good things to His children. Perhaps you did not have a father when you were growing up, or maybe the one you had behaved in a way that gave you a distorted view of God. When you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the heart of love God has just for you, then you can enjoy your walk with Him as you fulfill all of the wonderful plans He has for your life. Here’s what you can expect: Your Father is for you. He will be with you every step of the way. Your Father’s motive is always love. When you think He is spoiling your fun, He is actually protecting you from something that will harm you. Your Father wants you to succeed at all you set your hand to do. He will show you how to be successful; He will encourage you to keep going and never quit. Your Father will pick you up if you fail. He will bind your wounds and set you on your feet again. Your Father wants the absolute best for you in all you do. He doesn’t want you to settle for less that you can have. Your Father delights when you come to talk to Him. He loves to share His wisdom and counsel, and to show you the way to go. Regardless of how you may have viewed God, the Word says He is the perfect Father. The question is, will you let Him be a perfect Father to you? Confession: Father, I receive you as my loving heavenly Daddy, and I take my place as Your precious child. I trust everything You do for me is motivated by love. I believe You are good, and everything You give me is good. Author: Jerry Savelle From Naijapage - daily devotional |

Agree with God Not only does God have a plan for your life, but the enemy has a plan for you too, and it’s up to you to decide which one you’ll agree and get on board with. I encourage you to choose wisely, because the Bible says when people come into agreement, power increases. When the devil tries to tell you that you don’t have any future left or you’ve made too many mistakes, you need to say, “God is the God of second chances. I not only have a future, but I’ve got a good future. God has great things ahead for my life.” If the enemy can get you to agree with him, you’ll have what he wants you to have—pain, regret and brokenness—but if you stay in agreement with God, then you’ll have what God wants you to have—life, and life more abundantly (see John 10:10). Who are you going to agree with? Prayer Starter: Father, I choose to agree with You and Your plan for my life. Thank You for wanting and planning good things for my life, and for helping me recognize and refuse to agree with the lies of the enemy. In Jesus’ Name, amen. “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love.” Luke 7:47, NLT TODAY’S WORD: Jesus was at a Pharisee’s house when an “immoral woman” came in and poured a jar of expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet and began to wash them with her tears and her hair. The religious leaders were shocked that Jesus would allow this “sinner” to touch Him. But though she had made a mess of her life, she loved and longed to please Jesus. When she took one step toward God, He showed her mercy and said, “Your sins are forgiven.” That’s the God we serve. Maybe you’ve made a mess, and now you think, God will never help me. No, God is not judging you based on what you’ve done. He looks past the outside, past the mistakes and failures, and He looks at your heart. The question is, is your heart turned toward Him? As it was with this lady, when you call out to God, you’re going to see His favor, restoration, and mercy. PRAYER FOR TODAY: “Father, thank You for looking beyond my performance and seeing my heart. Thank You for forgiving my mistakes and failures and messes. I’m shaking off the guilt and condemning thoughts and believing that You will show me Your favor and restoration. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.” Credit For Joel Osteen Devotional August 4 2020 – Joel Osteen Ministries From - Naijapage - Joel Osteen Devotional Today |
