We have finally come to the end of the lent period. I want to say a huge "Thank you" to everyone who contributed to this thread. May God bless you all. May the blessings and Virtues we received during this time remain with us forever. As we go on and celebrate the Death and resurrection of our King and Lord, Jesus Christ may the joy and blessings of this season fill our heart and make us ever ready for His second coming. I love you all!!!

The seven virtues

Charity

As a virtue, charity is that habit or power which disposes us to love God above all creatures for Himself, and to love ourselves and our neighbours for the sake of God. When this power or habit is directly infused into the soul by God, the virtue is supernatural; when it is acquired through repeated personal acts, it is natural.

Reason tells us that we ought to love our neighbours, since they are children of God; since they are our brothers, members of the same human family; and since they have the same nature, dignity, destiny, and needs as ourselves. This love, or charity, should be both internal and external. The former wishes the neighbour well, and rejoices in his good fortune; the latter comprises all those actions by which any of the needs are supplied.

Jesus makes charity the new commandment. By loving his own "to the end,"he makes manifest the Father's love which he receives. By loving one another, the disciples imitate the love of Jesus which they themselves receive. Whence Jesus says: "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love." And again: "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

LOVE!!!

Do not blame anybody for snake entering into your room. I once killed a snake on my mother's bed in our village. I regretted killing it afterward because my mother told me that snakes are harmless unless you spook them, then, they bite you. First rule: Let snakes be.

Vicjustice: If you don't give them your original passport, what then would they issue the visa into?
Whoever meets the requirement (whether married or single) would be approved of the visa
Thank you!

Sorry, I need to get one other thing clear (Don't mind my too many questions, I've never left Nigeria before grin), I read that I have to submit the original of my International Passport, does it mean I have to send the passport to them whole (Like the whole green book?) or what? I thought you are never to give it out?
Secondly, in the application, they lay so much emphasis on Spouse and common law union, and people here on Nairaland are always talking about Spouse too, does my being single (not having a spouse) have any negative effect on my Visa Application? just asking... Thank you for your response. smiley smiley

Secondly, In the fee payment section for Canadian temporary resident visa application, I found "Single entry" and "Multiply entry". What are the differences between these two? Which one would you advice me to pay for? I am going for an exam and will probably go back after the result is released for further stuffs or so.
Travel / Re: A Comprehensive List Of The Documents Required For Visas by Dextra(f): 7:19pm On Mar 07, 2013
In applying for Canadian temporary resident Visa, I found this:
Proof of employment - letter from your current employer and payslips (last 3 months). Employment letter dated within 2 months of the application indicating occupation, job description, position, salary, allowances, years of employment an d authorized leave dates.
I want to clarify if I need to ask my employer for a new employment letter or I have to use the letter I was issued before I started job one year ago.

We are still in the lent season and making progress.
I didn't know Sundays were excluded from the 40 days undecided, Anyway, in my church, we fast every first Sunday of the month, so I don't know about not fasting on Sundays. Well, we shall continue. I am getting used to the fast that I don't feel hungry anymore and even at the end I am not in a hurry to eat something.
Today, I watched a young woman breathe her last. It reminded me of my purpose in life and that nothing else matters in this life once you take that last breathe.

Btw u guys shuld keep posting so that d morale doesnt die off, for the sake of our fellow brethren

I don't think bad things happen to people because they did something wrong, however, it would have been avoided if you prayed more and walked in the Spirit more in this lent season. I am sorry about your money.
You have to get your motives right. Why do you indulge in this fast? What do you want to achieve. Thank you for being part of this thread. Keep your testimonies coming.

There has been some unusual turn of event around me and I asked God to show me the steps to take. Last night, I had a long dream about the whole event and got the answers that I seek. In the dream God told me that things will return to normal in January 2014. Secondly, I've been trying to make a decision whether to return home or not, in the dream, my rent expired, I was searching for a new apartment to pay for. I went round a street and suddenly found myself in our street at home and in our house. So, it can only mean that God wants me to go home. I know most of you will not understand what I may be talking about but it is personal and I don't want to reveal it here, but just that whatever answer you seek or when you need to make a decision, just ask God. He will show you.

Good evening Dextra,

I am really glad that you have inspired a lot of people with this thread.

As part of my lenten obseravnce I decided to stop a bad habit I picked up while I was in my teens. This habit has been with me for some time now and its time to put a stop to it.

This is what I have decided to give to God this lent. I really felt like going back to this habit just today but I remembered my resolve and stopped. This thread would be a good way of keeping track of my progress.

My goal is to be steadfast this lent and also substitute this bad habit with the opposite virtue which I intend to carry on after the lent and hopefully by God's grace it will be a permanent feature in my life.

Thank you!
You will be surprised at how much progress you will make. A good decision you made there. Keep it up. Thank you.
