do u know the story of how jesus met peter? he was fishing with his brother james and with their father, when jesus met them, he called them, what did they do? "they dropped their nets and followed jesus" does that mean they forsook jesus? clearly in tow instances, they went fishing after they were still with jesus and jesus instructed them on what to do to get fishes.

peter did not forsake fishing, he simply dropped his fishing net at that time jesus called him,

verse 3 says "the pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, " read down to verse 16 "and behold, one came and said unto him, " the question is, who came unto jesus? the answer is, one of the pharisee in verse 3 that came unto him to tempt him, and Jesus knew the intent of his heart, and if u know about the pharisees, remember that they were always proud and wanted people to praise them for who and what they were,

in verse 21, jesus told him "if thou wilt be perfect, " note here the tense jesus used, "if" cos he knew who they were. he knew that they will never be perfect, to other people, jesus always told them straight statement, but to this young man, he said "if", and then he went ahead to tell him "sell that thou hast, come and follow me", something the pharisees will never want to do because they loved riches.

in verse 23, when jesus said that a richman shall hardly enter heaven; he did not make mention of a rich Godfearing man, people that get riches in evil and bad ways, this were the people that Christ talked about, the pharisees made their riches in oppressing the poor, making them pay heavy and much taxes, this is not a good way of making money, so jesus was talking about these kind of people.

in verse 24, there was a certain gate in jerusalem called "the eye of the needle" cos of its narrowness. it was not always easy for camels to go through, one needed great effort and techniques to get his camel through that gate. so when jesus talked about "eye of the needle", he was talking about this gate, that phrase of jesus did not mean that its impossible for these rich people to go to heaven, rather, it will take a lot of strength and effort on their part. this is the response of jesus in verse 25, that with God all things are possible, cos they don't have to do it by their own strength.

in verse 27, when peter talked about forsaking all, he did not talk about forsaking riches, and forsaking houses, but he was talking about forsaking pleasure. peter was married, he still had his house, and still had his job, do u remember that at that time he was a fisherman? do u remember when they were fishing with the other disciples the whole night till they did not catch any fish? tell me pls, what were they going to do with those fishes? were they gonna catch them and throw them back into the sea? NO, they fished for the purpose of selling to make money, and when jesus came the following morning, he told them what to do, and they obeyed, if jesus wanted them to be poor, he wouldnt have told them "cast ur net to the other side, " he would have rather said, "no my disciples, remember u are supposed to forsake all and follow me, u are not supposed to be rich, why are u fishing? what do u wanna use them for?" maybe he was supposed to say this, but jesus encouraged them and told them what to do, what does that mean? it means that jesus was in support of them doing something that will eventually make them rich. also remember the feeding of 5 thousand, jesus asked what the disciples had as to help in feeding the people, but they had none, if jesus did not want them to have nothing, why did he ask? which means, he was expectant of something from them, at that time, they had nothing save for a boy who had food, so understand this verse very well.

verse 29, now jesus talks about forsaking things, the greek word here for "forsaken" is "not preferred", which interpretes thus "and every one that hath "not preferred" houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall recieve an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life" and note why jesus carefully selected these words, cos they are all that constitute riches, so he does not mean that we have to leave or throw away our riches to make heaven, if this is what he meant, how then are we supposed to pay our tithes and offerings? how then are we supposed to help the poor and needy?

its good that u brought up these verses, but why did u not talk about the verse like deuteronomy 28:1-13, have u read about this before? and have u also read about verses that talks about God's riches and blessings to his people if they obey HIm? and who are obeying God most if not pastors? look at the bible, God's people were never poor, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon and many others, in the new testament, The apostles (the bible said that they shared all that they have in singleness of heart), Paul was a lawyer and a tent maker, Timothy, Silas and many others, so what are u talking about pastors becoming rich and living like kings? or to u, is it only members of the church that are only to become rich and not pastors? thats a wrong thinking, please if u have any other points u can bring along and lets share them together,

its just so funny the way people interprete the bible and look at the life of jesus while he was on earth, what does the bible say about jesus? read the old testament, the priests in the old testament were rich, why? God commanded the people to be bringing gifts to them, so in like manner, people also buy cars and give gifts to men of God today, besides, is a pastor not obligated to work or do other business(good one) that will make him rich? so if a pastor becomes rich why is there suspision? are they not human beings? are they not entitled to God's blessing? tell me people, which one will u prefer? a president to have an entourage or a pastor to have an entourage? i know u will all say a president to have an entourage is the best cos for a pastor, it looks worldly, thats a wrong thought if u think this way,

so dear people, don't ever bring up the issue of pastors becoming rich, it's their right, it doesn't mean they love the world or something. if a pastor is not rich, he should check his life once more, PROSPERITY IS OUR HERITAGE, am not a pastor, but God told me am gonna become one in future, so does that mean that he is calling me to be poor and average? finally, tell me any great pastor in nigeria that doesnt have a mansion? is it Oyedepo?, or Kumuyi?, or Adeboye?, or Chris Okotie?, or T.B Joshua?, or Uma Ukpai?, Helen Ukpabio? name them? and u nuclearboy, do u have a local church? is ur pastor not rich? he doesn't need to have a mansion, it depends on him, but if he is not rich, then there is a problem somewhere, take care and God bless you.

lets take a look of Jesus's Miracles:
(1) turning water into wine, who will believe that any man of God can perform this same miracle till today? so many of us will think that the pastor did tricks and poured in wine instead of water.
(2) healing the blind man with mud, so many of us will think that the pastor is a native doctor, that the mud he uses signifies something else.
(3) multiplying food, ofcourse none of us will believe this miracle if it happens today
(4) raising people from dead, this will never be believed, remember when pastor daniel was brought back to life in 2001 when Reinhard Bonnke came to anambra, if this miracle was performed by pastor Chris or any other nigerian pastor, i think so many people will still talk,
(5) and many more miracles he did,
yet jesus said "greater works than these shall u do if ye believe, because i go to my father" then why are christians still doubting miracles, also look at the case of the apostles, the case when peter healed the man sitting at the gate called "beautiful", what will we say about this today, did u also read in ur bible where apostles healed people through handkerchiefs? don't we complain and doubt when a man of God does this? and have u read when even the shadows from the apostles bodies healed the sick? so friends, what are we talking and arguing about? why don't we post something educative on nairaland? why do we rather choose to post things that condemn and portray people to be bad, even if somebody killed another person, should we post them here? what for? that's why blacks or maybe better say nigerians will never progress in life, cos they are always finding faults.

am a member of deeper life bible church, and i also worship at christ embassy, but each time i watch the healing sessions at their church, so many people in the crowd also get healed. did pastor chris go there to also bribe these folks? what about his ministry on television? he tells people to lay hands on their bodies where they feel pain, and testimonies come as a result of this, does he also bribe them at their homes? i know that in every statement, there is an element of truth, but what am saying is that, u should not have aired it, and sometimes they may not even be true, why? cos our subconscious minds makes us see things that are not real, and we think they are.
