dancok: yes of course, no amount of education can change a black man, "my saying always" we should yewansi because their are rich. Nonsense. It has nothing to do with education, it is the natural or should I say 'default' setting of we humans. You may not agree with this I know. But look at it this way: the white men that education has changed, why do you think they still look down on Africa/Africans? It is not only because of our Race, it has a lot to do with our economic situation in Africa. So when prosperous nations talk, they as African nations to keep quiet. You see? What do I know I am just a job seeker looking for who could help me with a job or refer me for one |

Time2win: There is more funding for msc chemistry and it's less competitive than chemical engineering. There are some schools that don't require GRE for MSc chemistry but you will hardly see any engineering program that doesn't require GRE in USA. My advice is for you to stick with MSc chemistry so you can get funding easily but if your passion is engineering, prepare for GRE and give it a try. Please can you name the schools that offer assistanship for Msc Chemistry. Thank you |

Focusmind: Honestly, the large number of Nigerians emigrating to western countries, especially Canada is becoming alarming.
This has even made some of us that decided to stay to look stupid, foolish and insane.
A large chunk of middle and upper class, most of my colleagues and contemporaries have all left.
But Mehn, it is still a tough decision for me and I always seems to gravitate towards staying. I like the freedom and my job.
My major concern is just the insecurity.
As for my kids, I just had to ensure that I had all my kids abroad in case. That was the decision I took even before my wedding and it worked fine.
Wishing all that wants to flee safe janded, yankeed and canadeed. Please can you help me? I need a job and I am ready to pick anything up. Thank you |

gforce5: Actually, you are worse than the OP and I as you, like many myopic Nigerians, acquire wealth to oppress your fellow countrymen in the name of being a "big boy". You wonder why slay queens, yahoo boys and ritualist are on the rise? It's because they have your mentality.
Many talented people have left the country because the country does not value their skills and input. You lots prefer those who have your level of reasoning: 'Who grammar epp?", "This is Nigeria not the west!", "Once you are in Rome behave like the Romans". Why would a sane enlightened person want to work in such an environment?
The problem with you people is that you refuse to accept that you lots cannot evolve due to tribalism, religious intolerance and illiteracy. As long as you have Northern almajiris ruling you, you cannot evolve. As long as you have high school dropouts at the top of many organizations you cannot evolve.
You talk about people in the west developing their countries. Of course they did but they had many like minds who were willing to come together and change the system. Nigeria is too divided on tribal and religious lines for that to ever happen.
So you see, people would stay and fight if there was a country worth fighting for.
As for Putin's comment, he's referring to you lots who make money at all cost at the betterment of yourselves as opposed to the benefit of society. Where you not the one that said that once you have money you can travel to the US and UK anytime you want. What about traveling to Calabar, Jos,Sokoto or even Abeokuta? Of course not. The people who you want to become don't even believe in your country. Hell, your President doesn't have confidence in your health sector hence his monthly visits to the UK. Your tax money at work eh??
Oh, and finally, the whole "keep being a second-class citizen abroad" is stale. You are also a second class citizen in your own country if you have to be rich in order to have quality and decent life. If you have to live in a private estate with security, use escort to move around town, run your gen 24/7 in order to have light and wear expensive cloths in order for people to respect you then you are a second-class citizen in your own country without money. Bro, whoever you are, please, I would like to connect with you. You have a perfectly right view of the situation in naija. Nigeria is happening to me presently , I've been jobless for close to two years now. |

5thElement: I get what you are saying and I respect the fact that you choose to hang out with a physically challenged shoe cobbler.
Still, these are your co-workers. I'm not saying you should be best buddies with them, just don't be too aloof. And though it may sound unthinkable now, but you may need their help some day. You won't stay in that office together forever. Bro, please just in case you or someone you know have need of a diligent guy with a degree in chemistry plus two years work experience. I'm badly in need of a job and ready to pick up anything up to keep ends meet. Thanks. |
