Oga stop using the word tribal bigot and go straight to your point, if you have nothing to say stop disturbing my mention.
That is because I'm not a TRIBAL BIGOT and do not intend to be one lol

As I said, go and educate yourself about the laws guiding landlord/tenant issues.

I should be the one telling you to go and educate yourself mister.

If you can't make your post quoting the Lagos tenancy law then STFU.
Again, without trying to be a tribal bigot, I'm not really surprised with all your comments on this thread. I've had encounters with people from your part of the country and know their psyche when it comes to landlord/tenant issues.

Funny enough these are the people that lord it over their landlords where they live and go out and sell fake drugs, shoes, electronics, just about anything. And when you detect it is fake and try to return their merchandise, hell will break loose. In these cases they are not wicked, only landlords taking authority over his property are wicked.

It is his house. He has the right to need his property back.
What matters is giving adequate legal notice. Did you not specify what notice period is needed by both parties in the tenancy agreement?

Imagine you have to move to another city due to work or you are fed up with living in the house, you give him adequate legal notice, would you like him to force you to stay there? If you will not like that why should a landlord who owns his house be forced to have tenants in his house if he wants them to go with adequate legal notice?

If you want to do well in life do not listen to advice of those who with their actions and advice are not planning to do well.

Aspire to own your own house (if you do not already own one in that city) and work towards it. Not creating problems for a landlord entitled to have his house back.

My tenants and their guarantors sign a tenancy agreement clearly stating renewal terms and conditions and the process involved when the tenant wants to leave the property and when the landlord wants the property back. Every savvy tenant and landlord should have mutually agreed ab initio.

I think in Nigeria we just like creating problems when such can be easily avoided.
Be aware that when you create problems for landlord, you inadvertently encourage tenant profiling. Be it tribal, age, job type, marital status, or other kind of profiling.

It is now common in Lagos for landlords to categorically say they do not want people from certain tribes. Due to previous experiences. It may be unfair but humans are largely subjective.
God bless you

If he gives you quit notice asking you to evacuate within 2 months of expiry date, you too get a lawyer and serve him your own notice stating the law to him..

Some of this landlord always think they God and if you don't challenge them back they will always take you for a ride.

If you pay every 6 months, you're entitled to 3 months notice and if you pay every year, you're entitled to 6 months.

You just have to let him know with your notice too, so he will know he is not dealing with someone he can just push around.
Without trying to start a tribal war here, honestly when I am not surprised you said this. I've made my little research, people from your part of the country are always very very hard tenants.

Now listen, the 'entitled 6months and 3months notice' you mentioned are NOT supposed to be free. It could be given while your rent still run. Go and educate yourself about this and stop putting people into wahala.

Thanks, moving out is not really a big deal, but you know the logistics involved in moving to a new apartment in Lagos, unprepared?

Moving entails budgeting.

So giving me just 2months after my rent to sort it out is my major concern
Bro, in the eye of the law he has given you six months notice not two.

I'm not a lawyer but I know the 'summary' of the Lagos state law about this.

Six months notice if you pay yearly. Three months notice if you pay twice in a year. A quit notice could be given to you six months to the expiration if your rent. It is valid and lawful.

But if you signed for less than six months in your agreement paper, then it is what you both agreed upon that will take precedence.

From your write up he gave u two months from the expiration of your current rent, and the rent expires in April that's four months + from now and another extra 6months my Advice is if u like the house so much pay ur landlord a visit and sort out things one on one am quite sure you guys were throwing jabs and claiming right for him when he came visiting before hence this decision but if your among those claiming right when he came before no need visiting him just start now to look for another house 6 months is enough notice but if you have money to spend lawyers need it
Spot on!

From what you wrote, I would like to believe you own a house or you've had a lot of experience about landlord/tenant issues.

I also have the feeling they were claiming rights and throwing jabs at the landlord. Sometimes playing mumu with landlords is the easiest way to 'catch' them.

Once most people pay rent they would begin to attempt to lord it over the landlord, especially some guys from a particular part of the country and I'm not a tribal bigot.

i wonder why he doesnt have same amount of hatred for gej despite numbers of churches bombed by boko haram when he was president ..

You must be a sheeple if u think oledepo cares about anything else than his pocket
Is Miyetti Allah and Boko Haram the same?

Couldnt he do something about Miyetti Allah who value cows more than humans? Do you, in honesty, believe Buhari isn't sympathetic towards these herders whose association he was once the patron?

It is none of your business if I am a sheeple or not. It is becoming fashionable for Nigerians to point fingers at churches as the cause of the woes in the country. This is utter rubbish.

America that we copy was once a very religious country. Their constitution is fundamentally built on biblical laws. You can go and verify. But there was an apostasy which is why they are fast losing their glory. To claim to be gay/lesbian then was classified as a mental disorder.

How many of you 'intelligent ones' now will let 'IN GOD WE TRUST' be written on our coat of arm now? Wouldn't that be a sheeple thing to do? But America did it then!

If you don't give these pastors your money, then keep quiet. Majority of your are just jealous, check your heart. Jealousy is the problem. Let those that prefer to be 'scammed' continue to be.

[quote author=kitaatita post=73558714] If David Oyedepo, PhD (owner of universities, teacher, religious influencer, successful in business, owner of private jets) could be misled by such simple satire , he is indeed a charlatan and an impostor. [/quote

Because he is a pastor and owns private jets( im sure this is your main gall!) he can't make mistakes?

No, he is not 'too big'. He just doesn't give a damn about what people say. If he does, he wouldn't be been doing all he is doing now.

Bishop Oyedepo 'hatred' for Buhari started when Christians were being killed mercilessly in the middle belt and Buhari couldn't do anything. If the reverse was the case what do you think those Jihadists would have done and be doing now?

Lots of ignorant people here are criticizing him for coming out and taking a stand. Where were they when Oyedepo came out when they were trying to abolish C.R.K stylishly ?

If these people think Christians will fold their arms this time around and call on Jesus to come and defend them, they are gravely mistaken. This time we will pray and we will fight. Some praying inside and others doing battle.

If one of your family members was killed in the onslaught against christians in the middle belt, you will not hate Oyedepo for speaking up. Other pastors can be acting gentle, not this one!

People need to go read about how Turkey changed from a majority-Christian country to majority-Muslim country.

Call it Satire or whatever you like, my first impression, reading Olatunji Oludare's piece was not of laughter or comedy. What i read was a supposed "well laid, investigative" reportage. Till now i do not see the sattire or sarcasm in that post and i would easily be misled by that article myself.

The only dissonance that gave the post out for me was the supposedly unwarranted tirade against Nnamdi Kanu. But without that i could easily have attempted to 'dig' further.

I understand now that the majority of folks immediately termed the article sattire based on the antecedents of the writer. However, we need to ask the impact of a credible news outlet like The Nation irresponsibly mixing sattire and real journalism together.

Knowing fully well that the general public is fully aware that the Nation Newspaper is a credible journalistic outlet then it should be imperative to label or designate sattirical, sarcastic publications under the comedy section of the newspaper - whether online or offline.

The fact here is this, a leading religious influencer in Bishop Oyedepo was misled by the carelessness of The Nation newspaper and the clarity he sought for from the presidency has professed doubt that may have cascaded into the 5,000 church network of the Winners Chapel ministeries in Nigeria. Citizens and church members in Ogbomoso, Umunede, Ede and other rural hinterlands without access to Twitter, Nairaland have now heard from their revered pastor that their president may be a Jubril from Sudan.

Do we need this in a nation where distrust for the Federal Government is so rife that citizens would readily believe the worst from them? Worse even when such accusations are peddled by leading religious voices.

I have in numerous times called for sober reflection from Nigeria's media houses and bloggers to ensure news dissemination is done with utmost respect. A news made by Vanguard, Linda Ikeji during the last election which cited Bishop Oyedepo claiming to open the gates of hell is another typical example of how poor journalism continue o divide us and threaten our peaceful existence. Till today, that news report is still being circulated and reechoed in social media circles despite the recall made by the various news outlet. We thank God there was no violence in reaction to that particular fake news, but make no mistake that particular fake news could have put the lives of many Christians in jeopardy.

To the clergy, i humbly plead that our pastors, priests, bishops should cease from meddling in political issues. Let us imbibe the character of Pastor Adeboye who has been a father to all and a bridge builder who refuses to make political statements. Let the Nigerian people make their decisions and live with the consequences! You are Nigerians and entitled to your opinions on the political situation of the Country but in respect of Christ and the safety of Christians
all over Nigeria please speak your opinions in the comfort of your rooms and not on the pulpit to avoid needless controversies.
Look, the people accusing Oyedepo of being biased against Buhari are bitterly biased against him and other pastors. I've noticed a pattern: most of these people are just jealous. That is the root of their constant attacks against pastors and churches.

No matter what he or other pastors does, meanings will always be read into it.

Their thought always goes: why would he be flying private jets, living big etc?

Do you think if muslims were the ones having these universities, errecting gigantic structures they will listen to your criticism and slow things down? Don't you think Sultan, El-Rufai and MURIC would back them up and threaten everyone?

The push for churches to start paying taxes in Nigeria( emphasis on Nigeria, because we are a religious country) is borne out of jealousy.

I'm very sure if Oyedepo had praised Buhari to high heavens these current attacks wouldn't have come.

It is not nice that Oyedepo criticised Buhari now but it was nice when Buhari's political machine lied in 2015 that he said he would open the gate of hell?

HiggerEd, stop replying some of these guys here, they will never never see anything good about Oyedepo or the church.
