It's enot easy to start up a business o

Let me break it down for you here..

You were working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a private or public laboratory, u had some money, u saved up from the salary paid to u too for about a space of 5 years.. Not even being paid well o, but u had ways of making some other cash, and u eventually gather some money after some years, now u are able to start up ur own private laboratory.

Let's say you have saved 20 to 30 million Naira.

You are married, with probably a kid or two kids, you live and pay rent in Lagos, your kids are schooling, you have to feed them... Your rent is about 2.5 million a year in Lagos.

You have 20 to 30 million naira saved, you want to start ur business.. To be more focused and dedicated, u have to resign from ur previous work.

From the 20 to 30 million, u pay about 3 to 4 million naira for a good Accomodation for the Laboratory, you spend about 2 million to fix the place, you spend about 600k for registration, you spend about 12 million for some small equipments to start with.. You now have about 1 to 10 million naira left depending on if u had 20 or 30 million before starting.. Mind you, you have resigned from ur former place of work upon launching your new Laboratory..

U need to employ at least a medical laboratory technician, and a receptionist.. U have to pay them at the end of the month whether or not u have made any sales, you have to renew ur house rent next year whether the business is booming or not, u need to feed your family and pay school fees whether the business is booming or not, u still have to take care of your aged parents whether the business is booming or not..

Let me use this opportunity to inform you that some of the business owners don't go home at the end of the month with upto what they pay their staff., some even pay their workers from their savings, because u can't owe ur workers because of no patient patronage.. Scenarios like this most times play out in the first one to two years of the start of the business.. The CEO might have had sleepless nights, high blood pressure, probably borrowed to pay off salaries initially..

What I'm trying to point out is that, some low salary offer is most times because of the poor income Generated, and the age of the business.. Some might be due to the owners greediness.. But is it easy to start a business? If yes u should probably resign from the one u are being paid peanut and start up urs and pay ur self those million naira u think u deserve..

Most business owners will not just pack money and pay you, because they themselves know how many years they suffered to make that business what it is, and you that just finished school last year want him to pack all the money and give to you because u are a lawyer? Most times, when you show ur worth and add value to the firm, that's when you will be getting increments because u are now part of why more money is coming in.

Think about it..
Always start somewhere, no be everything be money initially, experience and exposure is always key for a starter.. Take this words from me, I have been there before

Again Jesus don't shout at pedestrians or passersby {Matthew 12:19} instead he goes straight to the house of someone {Luke 19:5} who may ask him questions regarding what he's preaching and what they need to do!

After preaching they must converge in a place to discuss about the experience they had {Luke 10:1, 17} this means they don't just do it randomly but were well organized with a specific territory in mind! Matthew 10:6

Another important thing is they should have a common theme in mind upon which their preaching supposed to center {Matthew 10:7} this will help any individual who has met them before but ignored them to remember that he or she has had something similar from someone in the past.

Lastly your leaders often preach about material blessings which makes all your members to become materialistic yet billionaires among you don't go to the streets to make noise claiming they are preaching for Jesus so most of your people will conclude that this thing is only for those who want to become pastors, poor or jobless people!😟

These and many more reasons makes it difficult for many of your people to participate in doing what you are saying!

It's because you don't own a business or run a business that you are speaking like that. (note that I did not say that exploitation doesn't happen...but it is not as widespread as you think).

A lot goes into producing rice in this country, compounded by the fact that the climate in the major rice growing areas doesn't favor them, and by the fact that transport and other costs have gone up in this tinubu economy.

What you are indirectly suggesting is government price controls on domestically produced rice. Countries that have tried that have always ended up with scarcity of food and any other product government puts price controls on, because no human being likes to do work for free or for poor wages, so that others can enjoy 'cheap food'.

And it usually backfires on the economy.

You better learn that things cost money, plus you don't effing have to eat rice every day.

Why should I buy a local product for an exorbitant price? When I can buy a better version of that product elsewhere for a cheaper price..

You are essentially arguing that farmers in nigeria should lose money and suffer financially , or failing that, should be driven out of work so that you can have cheap food.

You also are essentially supporting wasting more forex...or sending our forex...to foreigners instead of trying to keep it at home

A better idea would be finding ways to reduce production costs of rice here in nigeria...or just grinning and bearing it....or making sure we have an industrial economy, which would spur investment in increased production of rice here.

Listen to ur self, as if u don't know the country that you are in.

Nigerians are greedy, even if all these things are in place, Nigerians will still exploit each other as far as they are the only source of a particular product

They can't because their operating costs are higher than the Thais and the Brazilians. If they did that they would be broke in minutes and there would be no rice production in Nigeria in a few years

The fact that mills have to run on diesel generators instead of mains power supply, the high cost of transporting rice and the fact that Nigerian rice producers cannot meet national demand fully all contribute to the high operating costs

Let them rest.. They should stop the farming

We will import rice and eat.. They should grow cassava instead

The countries we import rice from, Thailand and Brazil, have something we don't have....year round rain and favourable conditions for growing rice nationwide all the. year round

So they can produce rice in large amounts yearly

In Nigeria,.most rice farming is done in the North which means it requires a lot of irrigation and heavy duty labor as rainfall there is not as much as in the other countries . That means that production cost for rice here is much higher than in Thailand or Brazil where irrigation is not necessary or needed much.

Also,.Nigerian rice producers can't meet up to half of the total rice demand. That creates relative scarcity.

Add transport costs and insecurity and poor road and transport networks as well as lack of large-scale farming of rice, and the reasons for the price being higher become clear

Then let's just import the rice for God's sake, so the consumers should be the ones paying for irrigation and transportation? When we can get a better quality and affordable rice from other countries without having to pay for the irrigation, transportation or other things..
