PoliticsStop Using Buhari’s Name To Bully And Intimidate Nigerians – Senator Wakili by DickDastardly(op): 6:14pm On Sep 13, 2015
The senator representing Bauchi South at the National Assembly, Ali Wakili, has condemned the use of the name of President Muhammadu Buhari to intimidate elected officials.

Wakili stated this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi at the weekend while reacting to a statement by a group called the Buhari Coalition on Peace and Support for Justice, who accused Wakili and the senator representing Bauchi Central, Isa Hamma Misau, of engaging in anti-party activities.

Wakili, who described the group as an illegal association, said he would not be intimidated by any group seeking favour or rent.

“Nobody can use the name of President Muhammadu Buhari to intimidate me. Anyone using Buhari’s name for intimidation will run a parallel life with President Buhari. President Buhari is a straightforward somebody, a good man, a man with the best of qualities.

“It has become a culture, especially in Bauchi, if anybody wants to run you down, he brings in the name of President Buhari. Let us not drag the name of Muhammadu Buhari into this issue because he does not know about it and he will never encourage it.

“I belong to APC, I am a bonafide member of APC and our party has structure of leadership from the national to the state, to the local government and to the ward level.

“Nobody from the national to the local government and ward level has ever accused me; so our voters need to be educated, they need to know about the constitution, because nobody should act out of the constitution of the federal republic.

“These politicians do not know the constitution because if they know the constitution, they will not be complaining.

“It is sad to note that those people accusing me today were the same people that accused me during the electioneering campaign saying I am not competent to be a Senator. they were the one that were hobnobbing with Mallam Isa Yuguda, then the PDP candidate for the senatorship. It is unfortunate that they are the same bunch of unserious people.,” he said.

Meanwhile the chairman of the Buhari Coalition on Peace and Support for Justice, Aliyu Abubakar, explained that the two senators have defied the instructions of the party, especially by aligning with PDP senators and subsequent vote of confidence on the leadership of the senate against the instruction of the APC.

He said the attitude of the two senators was contrary to the position of Bauchi people, in line with APC and the Presidency, especially by taking a stand that contradicts the interest of the party, hence the decision of the group and 80 other political associations to take this position against the two senators.

“The decision of the two senators is a clear refusing to take the instructions of our party under which they were voted and they have set the ball rolling in a bid to frustrate Mr. President from accomplishing his mission of rebranding Nigeria for the good of Nigerians,” he said.

PoliticsOpen Letter To President Buhari: Chief Timi Alaibe Can’t Be Our Governor by DickDastardly(op): 5:50pm On Sep 13, 2015
Dear Mr. President
I crave your indulgence for the deficit of time to ignore pleasantries and go straight to the point.
I am constrained to write to you not in the spirit of hate or disrespect. Nor is it motivated in a way of political bias. It is written with respect due to the office and the awesome tasks and expectation that have been laid on your shoulders.
Mr. President, Chief TIMI ALAIBE is your fellow citizen and subject because you belong to everybody but certainly can’t be your ‘anointed governorship candidate’ for the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa State as currently being claimed by his political ‘yes men’ who are swimming in waters way too deep for them.
Sir, we are the ones living through the severe hardship created by the current administration in the state. We are the ones working for the state despite the inhumane conditions we have to work in. We have tried our best so far and we have done remarkably well. Just imagine how much further we can take our dear state to with your help and commitment.
CHIEF TIMI ALAIBE is not a grassroots oriented Nigerian/ politician as he is always coming in from the blues to run for elections, and Mr. President, you know what this means. It simply means, he will not be in conformity with the tune of your administration’s agenda, as his learning process to cope with your structure will not commensurate with the desired change Bayelsans so yearn for, as he had maintained in the past that as a businessman, his business is of paramount priority to him and not politics, talk more of the people. So I ask: what does ALAIBE want from Bayelsans now? What does he have to offer when he is, in fact, politically bankrupt? How many people’s conscience can he buy? Where is he even coming from? Has he ever identified with the APC or its events and activities?
Mr. President, Your Excellency, you identifying with Chief Timi Alaibe at this level of the governorship race in Bayelsa would appear that you have little faith in Bayelsans’ ingenuity, capability, peculiarity, resilience and even patriotism.
Sir, the Office of the Governor of Bayelsa State is not a place for fainted-hearted men like Chief Timi Alaibe. When you draw redline, you would be willing to back it up. Chief Alaibe always runs back for one form of settlement or the other, as he has the habit of abandoning his followers when they need him most. This is one strong character of a weak leader, and as such, Alaibe can’t be our governor under any circumstance. 2003 and 2007 governorship primaries under the PDP and 2011 governorship primaries under the Labour Party (LP) are good instances of the political specie Alaibe is made of.
We have lost faith and confidence in Alaibe. He can’t be our leader. If our votes come December 5 will count, Mr President, be rest assured that the will of Bayelsans will prevail over any form of injustice and political manipulation. And we know you won’t allow your hard-earned integrity be dragged down in mud with Alaibe, if our leader, Chief Timipre Sylva who introduced you to us is short-changed.
Your Excellency, Sir, I have chosen to identify with Chief Timipre Sylva not because he is a successful politician, but for the fact that I am inspired and motivated to identify with him because he is sacrificial and that Mr. President, you need not be told. Our belief is, if he did for you, he can do it for anybody, especially to Bayelsans he so holds very dear.
Chief Timipre Sylva is the man of our Bayelsans’ Dream. He is our grassroots’ candidate. We know him and he knows us. He understands our plight.
Who we need is not Chief Alaibe because he cannot be trusted. He will only compound the problem the state is currently facing, increasing debt, increase unemployment, lower take-home pay, take political activism more seriously than establishing development institutions.
We don’t have time to negotiate anymore, Mr. President. We need change and Chief Timi Alaibe is certainly not the candidate for the desired change needed in Bayelsa for Bayelsans, but CHIEF TIMIPRE SYLVA.

God bless President Muhammadu Buhari
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
God bless Bayelsa State

PoliticsPDP Accuses Aregbesola Of Diverting N20bn Bailout Fund. by DickDastardly(op): 3:41pm On Sep 13, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party has accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of paying N20billion to Slava Yediteppe, a contractor handling one of the road projects in the state, from the N34.988 bailout received from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Director of Media and Strategy of the PDP in Osun State, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, who made this allegation in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, said it was wrong for the governor to pay the contractor from the fund purposely meant to pay backlog of workers’ salaries and pensions.

The opposition party said the governor had clearly proved to everybody that he did not care about the suffering of the workers who had not been paid for nine months.

The PDP claimed the N35 billion was fixed in two banks and one of the transactions was recalled and the fund was used to effect the payment made to the contractor last Thursday, while the other transaction was still intact.

Odeyemi claimed that the stringent conditions the governor gave the workers to meet before paying their salary arrears further proved the party’s allegation that Aregbesola had fixed the bailout fund for profit.

The statement read, “We have it on good authority that the payment was effected last week Thursday and we have noticed that the contractor has returned to site with its men and equipment within 24 hours as requested by the governor.

“Much as we believe the road project is ideal, we wonder why an inflated road contract awarded at N1 billion per kilometre has suddenly become the priority of Governor Aregbesola at this particular period of nine months unpaid salary if not because of some under current deals to siphon funds and shortchange the people of Osun state.

“This perhaps is the reason why the governor said he would only pay half of March salary for workers at a meeting he held with them last week.”

The PDP called on President Mohammadu Buhari to prevail on the governor to pay the workers and pensioners, which, they said, were the motive behind granting the state the loan.

Odeyemi said the fresh screening exercise the state government ordered was a time wasting tactic to buy time for the transaction to become mature in the bank.

“Having spent over N500 million for biometric screening of the state workforce in 2013 which led to a monthly payment of N50 million to a Lagos based consultant to undertake direct payment of workers salaries since then, we wonder why another screening is being done in 2015 by another Lagos-based consultant. All these are the reasons why Osun State is in debt and could not perform.”

The media aide to the governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, did not pick calls put across to him by our correspondent and was yet to reply the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

Okanlawon, while reacting to a similar allegation last week, described the PDP’s claim as a fabrication aimed at inciting workers and people of the state against the governor.

He said, “Besides, the verification exercise which the party claims is the subterfuge for this alleged lodgement in a fixed deposit account for personal gains is being handled with active involvement of civil servants. Does the PDP expect the workers themselves to delay the verification for its imagined interests on the funds to materialise?

“Its claim that bailout was paid two weeks ago further confirms its dubious intention because even the Central Bank of Nigeria still confirmed list of states that first received their shares while the same CBN said other states would get theirs on or before the end of last week.

“The PDP would do well to tell the world where it got its own information on the date of the bailout release to Osun as well as provide evidence of the alleged lodgement.”

PoliticsGov Primary: APC Factions In War Of Words by DickDastardly(op): 2:41pm On Sep 13, 2015
Ahead of the September 19 governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, one of the founders of the party, Chief Perekeme Kpodo, has expressed concern over the “doctoring of the delegates’ list for the party’s primary election.”

Kpodo, who is the factional Chairman of the APC in the state, has accused the party Chairman, Tiwei Orunimighe, of doctoring the list and compelling the delegates to vote for leader of the party and former governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva.

He said Orunimighe had been taking the delegates to the house of a chieftain where they were allegedly asked to vote for Sylva and no other person at the primary election.

Kpodo, who decried the development, insisted in an interview in Yenagoa on Sunday that all aspirants in the party should be given level-playing field during the primaries.

He said the idea of forcing delegates to vote for a particular aspirant had foreclosed the chances of a credible primary election in the state.

Kpodo, who was the former chairman of the defunct New PDP, took a swipe at Sylva, alleging that he (Sylva) is a “bad product” and that if the APC presents him as its candidate, the party would lose woefully.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to advise the delegates not to yield to the manipulation by Tiwei Orunimighe, because as a chairman of a party, he has no right under the Constitution to compel delegates to vote for a particular candidate when you have many candidates.

“It is wrong. That is why some of us started fighting them because we believed then that what is happening now will surely happen. So for us, we are justified – we have been vindicated.

“Our position is that they cannot support one candidate, they should allow the delegates to make their choice. The Sylva they are working for is not a good product in Bayelsa any longer. Let them carry out investigation. Sylva was stoned publicly for atrocities he committed in office. They cannot afford to bring such a person back to Bayslsans.

“He is saying he served one tenure, remaining one. Even for the one he served, he was supposed to thank God that he had the opportunity to serve one tenure. How did he come about serving one tenure? He is supposed to think about all this and go home and relax.”

Kpodo said, “We got the information that Orunimighe carried delegates to a chieftain’s house and that is exactly what he has been doing, persuading and compelling the delegates, but some of them have been complaining. What they have done now is to change the delegates list to suit them because of hidden agenda and that is why they refuse some of us, who are supposed to correct some of these problems to hold any position. They blackmailed us.”

Kpodo called on the national leadership to intervene in the matter and ensure that delegates were given free hands to choose candidate of their choice.

When contacted, Media Officer to Orunimighe, Mr. Alawoei Opukume, lambasted Kpodo, saying he is not a member of the APC.

He said Kpodo was neither a member of the party nor an aspirant, wondering on what premise he was talking.

Opukeme described Kpodo as a blackmailer and rabble-rouser who was bent on seeking relevance even though he had since been expelled by the party for anti-party activities.

“As far as we are concerned, Kpodo is not an APC member. He is simply an impostor and does not have any atom of integrity,” he said.

PoliticsLike PDP, We Won’t Hang Buhari’s Portrait – LP, PPA by DickDastardly(op): 9:40am On Sep 13, 2015
Two other political parties, the Labour Party and Progressive Peoples Alliance, have joined the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, in refusing to hang the portrait of President Muhammadu Buhari in their respective secretariats.

The two parties hinged their decision on the action of the ruling All Progressives Congress, which before it came to power, allegedly refused to hang the portrait of former President Goodluck Jonathan in its national secretariat.

Both the LP and PPA stressed that their action was a payback for the APC.

This is as chieftains of the PDP expressed divergent views on their party’s action, which was announced by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday.

“We will never hang his (Buhari) portrait in this office, because President Buhari is not known to our party. He is not a leader of our party and, therefore, we will never put his portrait here. We are a political party, very partisan and therefore, we are not going to hide that,” Metuh had told our correspondent on the telephone.

One of our correspondents, who visited the national secretariat of the PPA, situated along Emeka Anyaoku Street, Area 10, Garki Abuja, on Friday, observed that the President’s portrait was conspicuously missing.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Ameh, explained that the APC blazed the trail of “subtle civil disobedience” when it was in opposition.

Ameh said, “Your storyline should be whether the APC had the photograph of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. They did not. And that is the story; the APC did not have Jonathan’s portrait in the party’s national secretariat.

“Everything is about precedent. Throughout Jonathan’s tenure, the APC didn’t have his photograph; so, may be other political parties are also learning from the precedent set by the APC. They are following in the footsteps of the party during the last administration.”

A similar situation obtained at the national secretariat of the LP also situated in Garki.

The National Chairman, LP, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, said the party did not have Buhari’s portrait, noting that apart from the fact that the APC never accorded Jonathan such respect, the new administration had failed to make the official portrait of Buhari available to it.

Abdulsalam said, “We don’t have the photograph of President Buhari in our secretariat because the APC never had the photograph of ex-President Jonathan in their offices.

“We are supposed to get it but we don’t. The fact of the matter is that the Federal Ministry of Information should have called us, not only political parties, to say that the President’s photograph is available at the Federal Ministry of Information and that all organisations should apply for it.”

Meanwhile, top chieftains of the PDP have expressed divergent views on the position espoused by Metuh.

A stalwart of the party in Oyo State, Senator Lekan Balogun, said hanging of the President’s portrait should not be an issue to Nigerians.

Although he questioned PDP’s position on it, Balogun, however, said that if the constitution did not back hanging of the President’s portraits in all places, discretion should be exercised in doing so.

He said, “If it has become acceptable by the years, it is left for anybody to hang it. It will sound partisan to the extreme. It is not a constitutional requirement, but the PDP should not be the party that will reject hanging the President’s portrait, bearing in mind that when Goodluck Jonathan of the party served as President, everybody put his portrait in their offices at the time.

“Unless you can prove that when Jonathan was ruling, the APC did not hang his portrait, it should not be an issue. It is the kind of thing Nigerians play on.”

A prominent member of the party from the state, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), refused to comment on the issue. He told our correspondent that if the PDP had taken a position on the issue, he would rather not comment on it.

The Chairman and the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kwara State chapter, Iyiola Oyedepo and Rex Olawoye, however differed with Metuh.

In separate telephone interviews with one of our correspondents in Ilorin, they stated that Metuh’s position was wrong, adding that as the President of Nigeria, Buhari’s portrait should be everywhere and that he deserved to be respected.

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lai Mohammed, dismissed the controversy as “a non-issue.”

A constitutional lawyer, Fred Agbaje, who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH in a telephone interview, described the practice of displaying presidents’ portraits as a civic responsibility embedded in the constitution.

According to him, though the constitution does not expressly provide that the President’s portrait be hung, failure to do so in public places amounts to reneging on a civic responsibility, which is a constitutional requirement.

He said, legally, by one of those old 1960 laws, which we inherited, we are supposed to do that (display presidents’ portraits). “Even if it is not part of our constitution, it is part of our civic duty under the constitution that all public places should display the portrait as a mark of respect for constituted authority.”

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Ngige, similarly told SUNDAY PUNCH that although the constitution did not explicitly provide that the President’s portrait must be hung, it had become a universally accepted convention as a sign of accordance of respect.

Nairaland GeneralPastor Arrested For Making Faithfuls Drink “sacred Milk” Sperm! by DickDastardly(op): 7:16pm On Sep 05, 2015
Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, an evangelical pastor from Brazil,
persuaded his followers that he practiced MouthAction because it was
the way he preached the word, saying that his ‘milk’ was sacred.
And this pastor said his penis was blessed and that “the Lord had
consecrated with divine milk of the Holy Spirit” and of course, had
to go around evangelising.
“He convinced us that only God could come into our lives
through the mouth”, a follower said, “Often, after worship,
Pastor Valdeci asked us to do MouthAction on him until the Holy
Spirit came through ejaculation and delivered funds to the
church.”
Sobrino Valdeci Picanto, 59, was arrested in Apore, Goiás, Brazil,
for raping several women attending his church. He gave as an
excuse that his penis had been consecrated with “divine semen of
the Holy Spirit.”
Valdecir came to abuse some elderly, and defends himself by
saying that ‘he had an encounter with Jesus in a brothel and gave
him the mission of spreading the sacred semen throughout the
state, beginning with the faithful Apore Assembly, of which he is
responsible’.
Denise Pinheiro, delegate of the region, said, “Valdecir was caught
red-handed while rubbing his penis in the face of a local merchant,
which promised to make more sales in her business due to the
divine liquid.
