2. Psalms 137:9

EFCC arrests Fani-Kayode's wife (photo)


Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned the arrest of his wife Precious Chikwendu, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the former minister, the anti-graft agency detained his wife today, Monday, October 17 when she visited Governor Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti.

Fani-Kayode claimed that his wife and son had gone into a bank to withdraw some money when they were arrested and detained on the order of the EFCC.

He said it was the intervention of Fayose that prevented them from being taken away.

Fani-Kayode lashed out at President Muhammadu Buhari taking the fight against his wife and family instead of facing him.

This govt is sick and cowardly and so are the EFCC. If you have a problem with me face me and leave my family alone.

My wife travelled to Ado Ekiti to see my friend and brother Governor Fayose and his family.

They were on their way out of town when they went to Access Bank in Ado Ekiti to get some money.

When they got there my 8 month old son Aragorn and wife Precious Chikwendu were illegally detained, brutalised and put under arrest on the orders of the EFCC at a bank in Ado Ekiti today.

She has never had any business with me, she has never been formally invited by the EFCC or asked any questions about her transactions and neither have they written to her on any issue even though they are always sending letters to my house and sending people there.

If Buhari wants to deal with me why doesn’t he face me like a man instead of trying to harm and hurt my 8 month old son and wife.

Had it not been for the intervention of Governor Ayo Fayose they would have been taken away and subjected them to all manner of harm and indignities simply because she is married to me.

This was an account that has 200,000 naira in it and that has never had more than 500,000.

She has operated it since 2005 and she stopped using it in 2013. The account has no connection with me and I did not know it existed till today.

In an attempt to starve and harass me and my family all my accounts and wife’s accounts have been frozen.

Now they are resorting to arresting peoples wives and children for no just cause.

I thank God for Gov. Fayose and the people of Ado Ekiti who stormed the bank and freed my wife from this illegal detention and attempt to kidnap them.

Had it not been for the governor’s intervention and presence the bank would have been burnt down by the crowd. My family have since left Ekiti state.

This is Buhari’s Nigeria and we will resist his wickedness and tyranny.

We intend to sue the bank and to sue the EFCC for this illegal and wicked action. They have no right to do this. If they want to see my wife all they need to do is to invite her. We have nothing to fear. They do not need to be so primitive and barbaric to people.

Governor Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka also gave his version of what happened. According to him, Fani-Kayode’s wife was detained for over four hours with her 8 month old baby. He claimed she was arrested on the order of the EFCC.

He said: “She was detained in the bank on the order of the EFCC! Even when her 8 months old baby was crying for food and water, she was held captive!”

– Jigawa state government continued with its women empowerment project by loaning them goats

– The women are expected to return three goats after 18 months to the government

– 200 additional women have benefited from the scheme


As part of the plan to diversify the economy and rid the state of poverty, Jigawa government provided 600 goats to 200 women.

NAN reports that Ali Safiyanu who is the Information Officer of Buji local government disclosed this on Sunday, October 16.

Under the Goat Rearing/Breeding Loan Scheme introduced by the state to empower women, the goats were given as loans to them in the 11 wards are expected to pay back in 18 months.

Binta Shuaibu who is the All Progressives Congress woman leader distributed the goats to the women.

Safiyanu said each woman was given two she-goats and one he-goat to rear and the breeds would give birth twice in one year. The women will thenpay back with three goats.

“The government decided to give the women goats because of its economic values; both the goat’s meat and its skin are needed.

“Since most of the beneficiaries are rural dwellers, to feed the animals will not be hard for them because of the availability of the animal feeds in their villages.”

He said the state had also given 20,000 improved fuel economy stoves for free to local food vendors in the local government.

“The stoves were distributed under the state government’s “Women Food Vendors Support Programme.”

The initiative introduced by Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar is expected to bring 18,000 women out of poverty as 47 per cent of the population are women.

Vanguard reports that the national poverty indices place the state as the poorest and women as the most vulnerable. The new goat multiplication scheme is already yielding result.

Aishatu Jibrin who was a cap-knitter and has four children benefitted from the goat farming scheme.

A full list of some Nigerian judges currently undergoing investigation for alleged corruption has been released, NAIJ.com has learnt.

Sahara Reporters claimed it exclusively got a confidential memo forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari concerning the raiding and arrest of some judges in the country.

The report listed the judges as:

1. Justices Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta

2. John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court

3. Justice Muhammad Ladan Tsamiya of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin division

4. Justice Uwani Abba-Aji of the Court of Appeal

5. Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court

6. Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal high Court

7. Justice Kabir Auta of the Kano State High Court

8. Justice Munir Ladan of the Kaduna State High Court

9. Justice Bashir Sukola of the Kaduna State High Court

10. Justice Mu’azu Pindiga of Gombe State High Court

11. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, the current president of the Court of Appeal

12. Justice Ibrahim Auta, the chief judge of the Federal High Court

13. Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court

14. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba

One unnamed judge was also mentioned in the list, according to Sahara Reporters.

According to the memo, Justice Chikere, wife of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Kenneth Anayo Chikere, was accused of receiving cash for a pre-election matter that came before her.

On his part, Justice Kabiru Auta was accused of collecting bribes from a businessman named, whose name was given as Alhaji Kabiru SKY, which led to his suspension before he was recalled.

The report said Justice Abdul Kafarati, who is due to become the chief judge of the Federal High Court, is facing several allegations of corruption. It was learnt that about N2 billion was found in the judge’s bank account, but he claimed the amount was an earning from his farming business in Yobe state.

Justice Yunusa is alleged to have taken N5 million bribe from a senior lawyer, Rickey Tarfa while Justice Pindiga of the Gombe State High Court reportedly received N100 million from Governor Nyeson Wike of Rivers state to influence a ruling of the tribunal in favour of the governor.

The report said Justices Munir Ladan and Bashir Suokla of the Kaduna High Court were recommended for arrest and prosecution based on several petitions of alleged bribe against him.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola has several allegations hanging on his neck apart from bribe. He was one of those arrested recently by the DSS.

Justice Ibrahim Auta is alleged to receiving bribe in order to assign some cases to corrupt judges who also give him returns while Justice Tsamiya is accused of demanding N200 million from an interested party in a case before his court.

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, in the memo, is said to be described as an incurably corrupt and stupendously wealthy judge just as Justice Abba Aji reportedly got N8 million from Mr Rickey Tarfa. This, according to the report, was partly why she was dropped from the list of judges for elevation to the Supreme Court.

Justice Ngwuta and Okoro, both of the Supreme Court, reportedly received N5 billion from Governor Nyesom Wike to ensure that the apex court ruled in the governor’s favour concerning the election.
