Most people claim to have it all on social media. They pretend to be living large, posting all sorts of picture to prove a point and impresd people who really don’t care.


Apparently everyone on social media has a perfect life. Their photos and messages say so. If everyone on social media has a perfect life and are living large, who are those we see in our offices, on the streets, with the imperfect life?

We can all agree that most peoples lives are not as luxurious as they make it appear on social media. Some people have a different life on social media and another one in reality. Some Nigerian girls are expert when it comes to having two entirely different lives.

There’s a huge gap between the world of Instagram and what we all know to be reality.

These hilarious differences between Nigerian girls on Instagram and real life will make you believe that not all that glitters is gold.

1. The butt on Instagram vs reality

Nigerian entertainer, Charly Boy has lamented the state of the Nigerian judiciary which according to President Muhammadu Buhari, has been corrupted by unscrupulous elements.


Area father claimed he talked to his dead father, Hon. Justice Chukwudifu Akune Oputa, some nights ago, through two virgins. Read below as posted on his Instagram page few hours ago:

A South African couple have gone viral for the their use of ankara to spice up the wedding.


Love is a beautiful thing when found and a couple from South Africa can testify to this. That couple is Nosipho Miya Leiva who got married to Demetrius Sonny Leiva this October.

Nosipho’s wedding dress went viral because of the lovely ankara wrapper material she fitted on the bustier of the dress. She also wore an ankara head wrap and use the same ankara material on pieces of the outfits of her bridal train,a s well as on her grooms suit.

She also stunned her guests at the reception when she wore the same ankara material but in the style of a full length dress. Her green shoes matched the outfit perfectly

When 21 Chibok girls gained freedom from the dreaded Boko Haram sect, yesterday, October 13, Nigerians went agog, with joy, doubts, disbelief and a million questions.

One thing we can be sure of however, is that those young women will be relieved to be home.

The story of the Chibok girls began way back in 2014, since then, the road home for these girls has been filled with suspense, pain, tears and an unrelenting fight not to lose hope since that fateful night on April 14, 2014.

The Kidnap

On April 14, 2014, 276 girls were kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect from the government secondary school in the town of Chibok in Borno state.

First escape

The first escape happened that very night. As the truck full of frightened schoolgirls sped deeper into Boko Haram territory, two sisters whose names have not being released, clasped hands and jumped off together.

Subsequent escapes

Other girls followed suit on that night as one of the trucks conveying them broke down. Between April 14 and April 15, 2014, other girls escaped their captors.

In total, it is accepted generally that 57 girls escaped over those first few months after the kidnap.

Amina Ali

On May 17, 2016, Amina Ali Darsha Nkeki was found by members of a vigilante group at the edge of a Boko Haram stronghold after fleeing during an attack on the militants’ camp. She had a four-month-old girl with her, and a man she said was her husband.

218 remain in captivity

After Amina Ali’s freedom, the Boko Haram sect released videos twice to taunt the Nigerian government and to show that they still had the girls in their custody. Although it was claimed that some of the girls had been inadvertently killed by airstrikes from the Nigerian army.

21 Chibok girls released

Yesterday, October 13, 2016, 21 of the Chibok girls were released. There are a lot questions as to what the conditions of their release were.

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, after meeting with the girls spoke on their condition and the next steps to be taken. 197 girls remain in captivity on paper, however if the claims of deaths by airstrikes are true, then the numbers will be greatly reduced.

Aftermath

There are unconfirmed reports, there are hints that many of the girls, about 18 of them returned with pregnancies. Apart from the rape, the trauma of being away from home for so long will be difficult for the girls to get over.

Also, a source has revealed that the story is far from over. As negotiations for the remaining girls will continue on Monday, October 17.

The source also revealed something interesting: “The 21 that returned were among the 104. The rest said they have ‘accepted Islam’ and have already gotten married to some Boko Haram commanders and leaders.

“And during the negotiation, Shekau said he will not compel any of the girls to renounce their new found religion and love.”

The Rivers state commissioner for information and communication, Dr Austin Tam-George, has raised the alarm over leaked plans by the State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to launch a “campaign of anarchy” in Rivers State, in the coming weeks.

The APC might be working in close coordination with little known “civil society” organizations and other faceless groups to instigate crisis in Rivers State, the statement said.

According to Dr Tam-George, the plan includes a series of state-wide riots in apparent protest against the Rivers State government, and Governor Nyesom Wike’s role in challenging the impunity by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS), during the midnight invasion of the home of a federal judge in Port Harcourt last weekend.

The commissioner disclosed that the objective of the APC might be to create a “climate of lawlessness”, which could lead to bank robberies, attacks on strategic state assets, random assaults on young women in the streets, and scare mongering in places of worship.

An attack on the Port Harcourt Prison facility in order to set prime suspects and die-hard criminals free, is central to the emerging APC plan, the statement said.

According to the commissioner, the first wave of the planned APC riots might begin in the streets of Port Harcourt, and spread quickly to other parts of the state, such as Ogoni, Abua, Emohua and Oyigbo.

Heavy monetary inducement for coordinators of the riots in each “flash point” or location was also being planned, the statement said.

The Commissioner called on the security agencies to closely monitor the activities of Rivers State APC leaders in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, in order to forestall the breakdown of law and order in the State.

“Rivers State is safe, and the government will continue to work with the security agencies to keep it safe”, the commissioner said, while urging residents of the State to be vigilant as they go about their lawful businesses.

The commissioner called on Nigerians and the international community to hold the APC and its surrogates responsible for any sudden and coordinated outbreak of violence and robberies in the state.

In the statement, PDP said; “Let the APC set up 1000-man committee in Abuja to help it win in Ondo State, it will still not stop the party from meeting its waterloo. Our people are wise, educated and intelligent and cannot be bought over with money or the glib or window-dressing committee that looks set to perpetrate roguery or indecent political game.

“The APC, as our people know of it, is deceitful, undisciplined, unfocused, revisionist, fractious and cannot deliver on electoral promises as prevailing circumstances have shown.

“These are even made worse by the disunity and unending crises that not only recently cracked the wall of the party but also collapsed it in its entirety, with a sizeable chunk of its population going to join another party.”

The PDP also faulted a claim by the APC that the Ondo election would be difficult and at the same time a walk-over, describing the statement as contradictory and mischievous.

“If the APC does not have a hidden agenda for rigging or bullying of innocent voters, why is it describing the coming election as “difficult” and at the same time “a walk-over ?”

“Walk-over is a soccer language. It means your opponent has refused to participate in the compulsory match and as such, you are given victory without effort. That allegory can only mean that the APC wants to harass the PDP voters from coming out and that will not happen for a people determined to be liberated from hunger and economic misery,” the PDP stressed.

PDP added that voters in Ondo State would not abandon a party with achievements for another with no discernible results for almost two years of governance.

The party boasted that it would win the forthcoming election based on its physical achievements across the 18 local council areas of Ondo State.

Meanwhile, Justice Abang has replaced Eyitayo Jegede the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate for November 26 governorship election.

Editor’s note: The release of 21 Chibok girls by Boko Haram terrorists to the federal government has elicited reactions from Nigerians. While some expressed delight at the return of some of the kidnapped girls, others like expressed doubt and insisted that it was a lie.

In this open letter by Fatima Musa who resides in Borno, she writes from the angle of a mother of one of the Chibok girls who spoke to her and addresses those who doubt the kidnap of the girls. She argues that because of political, religious and ethnic sentiments, some people chose to ignore the fact that young girls were kidnapped.

Dear doubters,

I cannot put into words the pain I have been through since 2014 when I was informed of the news of the abduction of my daughter by Boko Haram terrorist. I cried because I felt she alongside other girls who were taken from their school in Chibok would be killed immediately. I resigned myself to fate that I had lost a daughter all because I chose to send her to school.

When I heard that 56 girls had escaped from Boko Haram, my hope was raised. I wished my daughter would be one of them but alas, I was thrown into another round of tears when my girl was not one of them.

Anytime Boko Haram released photos of videos, I would scan through looking for my daughter but I never saw her. I resigned myself again to the possibility that she had died. In 2016 however, I saw a Boko Haram video in which my daughter was present. It was the most sorrowful day of my life. From a young innocent girl, she had grown into a woman. I might have seen the video more than 100 times looking for signs she was trying to communicate something with me. I found it hard to deal with how far she has aged. Her eyes were sunken and the smile I was used to was gone. My daughter looked like a stranger!

I wait for the day I will get the chance to see my daughter. A Yoruba friend said that losing a child to death is bad but losing to captors is worse. Every day, I think of my girl living among terrorists. I don’t know what she eats and if she has access to toiletries. What happens when she is sick? Would I ever get the chance to see her or will one day die?

To those people who say the kidnap of our daughter is a big lie, I pray the same thing never happens to you or someone you love before you believe it is real. Our political, ethnic or religious affiliation should not take empathy away from us. No amount of money can replace the loss of one’s child.

I pray my daughter comes back home one day to me. I have suffered a lot and my tears have dried because there is no more to come. Until that day comes, I have been asked to stay strong. I am trying to.

As shocking as it sounds, a former governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako, and his son, Abdul’Aziz, have been stripped of their traditional titles of Sarkin Yamma, and Sarkin Matasa respectively.

According to a report by Premium Times, the paramount traditional ruler of the state, Muhammad Mustafa, who stripped both men off their titles said said the decision was necessary because the two title holders have been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, E.F.C.C and arraigned before a court of law for alleged corruption.

The Adamawa Emirate council also dismissed the senior Nyako from the membership of the council.

Recall that Mr Nyako was impeached by the state House of Assembly in 2014, but the impeachment was declared illegal by the Court of Appeal but the Court did not order his reinstatement.

Mr. Nyako is presently in the Supreme Court asking it to return him to office based on the ruling of the Appeal Court, an action that has pitched him against Governor Muhammad Jibrilla.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has said it will deliver judgment filed by former governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako seeking to be reinstated as governor of the state to complete his tenure after his impeachment was quashed by the Court of Appeal.
