Jakumo: One reason that could possibly explain the startling academic brilliance of the Fulani students I mentioned as having performed so extraordinarily well in school is the vast amount of memorization that is needed to commit the Quran's entire Arabic content to memory. Intense exercise utilizing the brain's power of recall has been scientifically proven to enhance brain functionality significantly.
That said, an education in Arabic or Islamic studies is practically worthless on its own in the absence of a formal Western education that is grounded in the sciences. One can only hope that Northern Nigerian leaders will eventually embrace the understanding that a vast untapped resource of brain power requires only free education to completely transform the lives of generations to come for the profoundly better. Naive The so called western education started when European crusaders started implementing what they learnt and stole from Muslim lands during the cusades..... In many fields of science, you find Islamic scholars....likes of Ibn Sina and Ibn Khaldun. Did you know Oxford started as a seminary? The first non religious department in Oxford was department of Arabic and it was mainly to translate the Arabic texts the crusaders brought back |

Jakumo: The denial of formal education to generations of Northern Nigerians by their selfish and greedy political moneyed elite is one of the greatest injustices that continues to be inflicted on a people. Some years back, I noted with amazement how the children of a poor Fulani family broke academic records in a secondary school in Nigeria's south, starting from the time they were awarded scholarships to gain an education for free.
That unexpected academic brilliance displayed by those Fulani students from poor families was a sobering revelation that led me to wonder how many such academic geniuses of Fulani descent are DEPRIVED of a chance to enrol in school, on account of how education is available only to the select few who can afford its high cost in Northern Nigeria. But the northerners are highly literate The ajami script has been there since 16th century. What they lack, and were not really encouraging was western education and it was because western education was primarily brought to Nigeria by Christian missionaries which they fear would take their children away from Islam which is a genuine concern. The average northern water vendor or cobbler you see down south is educated up to diploma level In Arabic and Islamic education, they are not illiterates |

Trump has always been a climate skeptic , he has pulled out of the Paris agreement so the door is open for US manufacturing to return, they just needed an incentive which is what the tariffs will do |

Politics › Re: Natasha Akpoti: The Amazon Who Stood When Men Bowed by Difrent: 7:11pm On Apr 01, 2025 |
Asonaijaaso: Nigeria just witnessed something unprecedented—a woman, a rookie senator, defying the old gods of Nigerian politics and landing right in the heart of her people, not in a convoy, but in a helicopter.
In Kogi Central, time stood still as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived like a warrior queen, bypassing every roadblock of intimidation, every orchestrated ban, and every archaic rule designed to suppress opposition. She didn’t just walk into battle—she descended from the sky.
The 10-Factor Authentication of Natasha Akpoti
For a country where political power is hoarded like a family heirloom, Natasha is the anomaly that nobody saw coming. She isn’t just a politician; she is a force of nature, layered with dimensions that have left her adversaries bewildered.
A Nigerian with Ukrainian blood – They can’t call her an outsider, but she also doesn’t fit their script. An English name (Natasha) with a Muslim name (Hadiza) – She can’t be boxed into a single identity. A Kogi native who commands national attention – She is rooted yet expansive. A woman where men fear to tread – The old guard thought they were fighting their mistresses, only to find out they were facing an empress. A shrine visitor and a political gladiator – She embraces both the supernatural and the strategic. An Amazon with an aura, a warrior with weapons – Beauty, intellect, and ancestral backing.
This is not the kind of opponent Nigerian godfathers are used to dealing with. They have crushed voices before with police threats, legal gymnastics, and military intimidation. But what do you do when your opponent is not afraid? When she has access to the ancestral forces they themselves revere?
The Hunter is Now the Hunted
For too long, Nigerian politics has been a game of money, muscle, and manipulation. Senators, governors, and cabals have operated as demigods, dictating outcomes with a snap of their fingers. But here comes Natasha, flipping the script.
She is not waiting to be invited into the boys’ club—she stormed in, sword in hand, and set the table on fire.
While some bow to power, she defies it. Where others hide, she takes the battle to their doorstep. When they thought she would be scared, she laughed in their faces.
This is not Ali Ndume. This is not Ningi. This is not Dino Melaye with his theatrics.
This is one woman who has done what these men couldn’t do even if they combined forces.
Akpabio, Take Note—Your Seat is No Throne
Senate President Godswill Akpabio may have thought his seat was at the pleasure of the President. But Natasha just reminded him of an uncomfortable truth:
That seat is at the mercy of the senators, not Aso Rock. The Senate is not a kingdom, and he is not its god. If a rookie senator can shake the very foundation of the chamber, then the walls are already cracked.
A New Era for Nigerian Democracy
For the first time, the old lions of Nigerian politics are seeing their reflection in a woman’s sword. For the first time, a freshman senator has called their bluff—and they blinked. For the first time, the gods of the land are on the side of a challenger, not the establishment.
May the ancestors continue to guide and protect Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The earth sees all, and the wise keep its balance.
This is how you fight for democracy. Don't over estimate Natasha, she s still very vulnerable and will be dealt with at the right time. Don't underestimate those She's dealing with. |

EponObi: This one is gone. I'm very sure of it.
She's too naive to be a Nigerian politician. Ever since this saga started, she has been the only one running from pillar to pillar. She has thrown her punches in the public and they are nowhere effective. From making sexual allegation with no evidence, to running mad in the chambers, to paying for interviews on foreign TV stations, to paying crowd for some nonsense PR, now making serious allegations without proof again. They are watching her and noticing her mistakes and weakness. The recall process is a small thing, na Yahyah Bello dey run that one on him own. Akpabio and the APC hasn't thrown any punch. Tinubu too will throw his own because she tried to manipulate the impeachment of Akpabio - which is an indirect threat to his Presidency. When they are ready to strike, I swear, Jesus self go pity her.
I'm enjoying the show though. This is another avenue for Nigerian youths to learn about manipulation and power dynamics. But no, majority are too invested emotionally.
Pettiness is not equal to ruthlessness. She's going to learn. Unfortunately those pushing her now go all disappear when it start |

Xannadu: So what's your reasoning here, the state resources are too small for politicians to embezzle so it doesn't matter? The fact that you even think Nigeria is a poor country shows just how little you know about the economy. Not to even consider the fact that you think all that goes into a politician's pocket comes only from the IGR, completely ignoring the billions of dollars they borrow yearly for "infrastructural developments" we never get to see after their tenure ends. Most times , Nigerians exaggerate the corruption issue. For example Elrufai is accused of corruption to the tune of hundreds of billions and it's this amount that some people will be arguing he stole, but it's impossible for a governor to steal that much even if he steals the whole state budget (which is another impossibility) But I have no pity for thieves of commonwealth, even if it's a Kobo stolen..... This doesn't mean we should over exaggerate their theft |
