patrickmuf: That's the issue, why wait till the damage has been done before you unleash your players, our performance when we are a goal down against big teams is also different, we seem to play better, now does it mean Mou's tactics hampers our attack and he only seems to let us play when the chips are down?
patrickmuf: But at the same time, what he lacks in physicality, he makes up for it with superior technique. I am so sure if Pep was our coach, he'd be fielding a team that has Martial, Mhkitaryan, Mata, Herrera, Rashford and we'd be playing excellent attacking football. Mourinho has to approach big games with a mindset to win, we should stop trying to contain other teams, let them worry about us, I am so sure most opposition players fear Martial, Rashford and the likes but Mou set's up to contain them rather than make them ulter their plans to deal with our attacking threat. If Mou was to coach Barca and they came up against Palace, he'd tell Messi, 'hey look, this is Zaha, he is very dangerous, you need to track back to limit his effectiveness'...
Leyqute: Apart from this Mourinho has to rejig his plan and strategy about counter attacking. It's a thing in progress but the Portuguese needs to perfect that tactic. I've seen us countless times, (yesterday and in the past), give the ball directly to the opponent in the name of initiating a quick counter attack.
I don't know how he's going to do it but he has to get it right.
eph12: Even if he picks up he has shown he can't be trusted to lead a top team or create something out of nothing. We don't need such mediocre leading our attack. We don't want stat padders again o
Leyqute: Yes, the the defensive setup wasn't up to standard. No doubt about that. We were carved open time after time in the first half. You can't ask slow players to track fast players, it's calamitous. But our players also need to step up their games. They need to be more aware and more coordinated. They can only become better when they play together continuously.
Mkhtaryan gonna pick up again Dude, same as Lukaku. Wait till Pogba return, and you gonna see the Magic of the Dablord on them.
eph12: Make e no be like say I'm a fake fan or trolling my team, but I won't have any complaints if we played great football and still lost. I'll know that it's just a matter of time before the goals come and we begin to reap. I can never support poor footie especially when you have to spend so much to still play poor.
Not talking about this match again. On to the next one
eph12: As at now, Herrera best role in the midfield is defense and when you ask him to be creative you're asking for too much. So we need to get at least two creative midfielders in that team and rotate between Matic and Herrera as the defensive midfieder even with Pogba back. One would send Mkhi away for ever and the other will be rotated. In fact we need these midfieders more than wingers.
elampiro: He wasn't tracking Azpilicueta initially, it was when Azpilicueta kept advancing towards our area that he decided to track him.
The whole defensive set up was bad. Smalling being the centre of three man defence should never have gone out of position. If he stayed, there was no way an incoming area ball would beat him. He would even have directed the rest players to take positions. But he joined four others on the right, yet Chelsea s notill managed to pass us out of the that position into the middle.
It was a similar thing when Jones picked a yellow. Hazard escaped three markers before Jones hacked him down. Why crowding one player or the ball?
Zonal marking should have solved it. Three men at the back should have stayed tight leaving the rest to roam.
Did you see Herrera serving Shiit. Lol! Kagawa10 be like...... I no tell una?! The Dude is becoming a Ghost of himself. He can't hold ball for even 3 seconds.
eph12: Even the attacking football is full of disjointed passes that breaks down before any havoc can be caused. We are left with moments of individual brilliance and not team brilliance to savor
Joke apart..... JM ain't helping the Lads to be courageous psychologically against the so called big Ish. What's big in Chelsea for God's sake?! We can't pin the Team lackadaisical performance on Injury coz its only Pogba the Team is missing presently.
JM is the problem, he's the one to be blamed, he's not special anymore, coz what so special in a Manager that can't perform better against big Teams?!
If it was United that got a Draw at Santiago, JM would have parked a double-decker Bus in the return Leg, and C. Ronaldo would have used us to win another Ballon D'Or.
Nothing is wrong with the Players, but the Manager's Tactics. Rose returns from Injury, he's back in the Spurs Team, and he's doing Fine. But JM still thinks Luke Shaw ain't ready yet. I can't ever appreciate Young playing as a Wing-Back or LB. He's trying though, but he's not the Answer. And I'm certain Luke Shaw would perform better than him if he gets the Opportunity.
Is it too late for Mourinho to change his Style? No! I believe he can play attacking Football as well, he's just too scared to play it in big Matches.
Leyqute: Quite right. We are have one of the slowest midfield players in the league. The speed at which we pass the ball around is the slowest amongst the top 6 teams. In addition, the transition from defence to attack isn't what it should be and we don't have the player who can deliver that final pass.
But we have a run of fixtures which are very winnable. If we keep up with this confidence level we'll reduce the point gap by the end of the year or even be on top.
Nevertheless I can't absolve Jones of any wrongdoing. He didn't block Azpili's cross, didn't force him into making a mistake or to put in a poor cross, and above all, he didn't in any way contribute in defending the goal. All he did was to create a space for Alfa Blue to run into which pulled Smalling out of his position.
dubylhover: you're quite right, people tend to underestimate d extent of our injury woes, matic and Herrera have been playing constantly for some time,so fatique must have crept in,micki has been very poor, but d more disturbing fact is that I know that Mata won't offer anything better that's y I'm not always on mickis case...we really miss pogbas presense in that midfield, its no coincidence that micki, lukaku and our general team play has reduced in his absense..
finally lukaku is not really a good player, peeps here can absorb him all they want that he wasn't given chances blah blah, but d fact remains that he was puss poor, can't hold d ball, can't bring others to the game..he's quite big and still can't win aerial balls, that's what annoys me the most..but all d same,we lost to a very good team..forget this talk of Chelsea not inform,Chelsea vs Manu isn't really about who's in form or not, both teams normally bring their A game, and considering the fact that its against mou,its more motivation for them..but the players need to take more responsibility on d pitch
elampiro: Good one. I was also going to say this about our midfield. Matic, Herrera and Mkhitaryan are slower in movement than Kate, Bakayoko. Perhaps, the reason our defenders were coming into midfield to halt Chelsea.
We are very fast at the back and front but slow in the middle of the park. If Fellaini started we could have distorted them with long balls, and if Pogba were available we could hold the ball better. M I read Lingard was about to come in for Mkhitaryan before the goal, then Mourinho changed his mind and called Lingard back. That shows he knew we needed some speed in midfield. The team will learn from this.
eph12: At a point I couldn't even watch again, I just focused on my FM, and that was before the goal. There was no plan to carry the ball through the midfield to attack, as it was always long balls that unless you're Drogba, defenders always have the upper hands. The team couldn't string quality passes together and it was shameful. I know we're away and a draw which is just a point should be celebrated but I was more concerned with how we play and not just the result. We could drop points and play a great game and I'll be satisfied knowing we could have also easily have won the match, but it's not the case with Jose's team. The psychological effect of this is that the team automatically switches to defense mode when away from home against any team of average quality. A draw away from home will now be celebrated as a masterclass. I have stopped trolling shekpe long time ago because this our coach dey vex me.
I look at City team and I don't understand how the gap is this wide. Their defenders are not better, same with attackers. Their midfield is slightly better, but it just looks like this because they keep the ball and make the ball work for them. It becomes more annoying when I read things like he has a pattern that has won him numerous trophies. Na here we go dey abi next match the team will score 4 goals playing nonsense against weaker teams and we will be seeing things like master class.
I just feel for Lukaku playing beside Mhki. It can be very frustrating
