PDPGuy:I think Leicester were playing well but the results were not just forthcoming. I also think the sack came a bit early however when you look at how quick palace got rid of their Dutch coach, I am really not surprised he got sacked. It is Everton not sacking koeman yet that I am surprised about. |

Take a closer look at our next Champions League opponents, as we welcome Roma to Stamford Bridge... MANAGER Eusebio Di Francesco. The Italian has held the top job at Roma since June, after Luciano Spalletti departed for Inter. Since then the former Sassuolo coach has made a fine start to life in the Italian capital, leading his side to fifth in the Serie A table following five victories and with the added bonus of having a game in hand. The former Italy midfielder cut his teeth coaching with Pescaro and Lecce before moving onto Sassuolo and then Roma. He led Sassuolo to the Serie B title in 2013. KEY PLAYER Radja Nainggolan. The 29 year-old midfielder, who is an international teammate of Chelsea trio Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Michy Batshuayi, is a consistent performer for Roma and is at the heart of many of their attacks. Has previously turned out for Italian sides Cagliari and Piacenza, before moving to Stadio Olympico in 2014, on an initial loan deal before making that move permanent soon after. Has made over 100 appearances in a Roma shirt and is a regular in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium national side too. RECENT FORM Roma have made a solid start to the season, winning five Serie A games and taking four points out of six from their two Champions League fixtures. They did slip to a narrow home defeat against league leaders Napoli at the weekend though, with Lorenzo Insigne netting the only goal of the game for the visitors. Di Francesco’s side are yet to suffer defeat on the road this campaign though, as they prepare for their first visit to Stamford Bridge since 2008. ONE TO WATCH Edin Dzeko. The former Manchester City striker is enjoying a new lease of life with Roma, after making his loan move from City permanent. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has netted seven goals in as many Serie A appearances this season, whilst also scoring twice in the Champions League. A focal point of the Roma attack, he will be a player we have to keep a close eye on at Stamford Bridge. WORN BOTH BADGES Ashley Cole. Our former left-back spent a brief period at the Stadio Olympico after departing us in 2014, signing a two-year deal in the Italian capital. The move didn’t prove as fruitful as the former England international would have hoped, however, as he departed the club a year before his contract was due to expire and moved on to LA Galaxy in the MLS, where he remains today. Cole, in total, made 11 appearances in a Roma shirt. |
Antonio Conte says everyone must pull together during a difficult period if we are to have a successful season The Blues have a chance to respond to the loss at Crystal Palace, and the one against Manchester City before the international break, when Roma visit west London on Wednesday evening. Conte believes his squad have what it takes to get back on the right path, and quickly. ‘We have to find the strength to overcome this moment,’ the boss said. ‘I know my squad and my players very well. I have players with great will to work and to fight. ‘We must be unhappy after a defeat, above all if the defeat is not one but two in a row. This is not a positive moment for many reasons. We are playing without important players and every game we are having a new injury, but I trust all my players and I try to give everyone the opportunity to take their chance.’ Conte compared the current campaign to last one, and spoke about laying strong foundations. ‘Every season is different. Last season we didn’t play in the Champions League or Europa League. This season we are facing four competitions. We are having a few problems to do this because when you have three or four injuries you are in trouble. ‘This season we have to try to build something important for the future, to give possibilities to the new players to get more experience in this league, and to give opportunities to the young players to show they deserve to stay and play for Chelsea. We must have patience this season. It won’t be easy.’ |
Marcos Alonso says the players have trained very well in the past three days and are looking forward to getting back on the pitch when we take on Roma tomorrow. The Spaniard spoke to the assembled media at Cobham this afternoon, with those Italian journalists present interested to hear Alonso’s thoughts on Roma from the time he spent in Serie A before his move to Chelsea. First, Alonso detailed the work that has been put in on the training ground since the reverse to Crystal Palace. ‘We have been recovering well for three days and hopefully we are going to do a much better game tomorrow,’ Alonso said. ‘The team is looking forward to this game because it’s a good opportunity for us to change things in terms of the last game. Motivation is high for tomorrow and we will try to get the three points. ‘We have had a good start in the Champions League,’ added Alonso. ‘We have to keep playing this way and tomorrow is a good chance to make things a bit better after the last couple of games in the Premier League, and to get closer to what we want, which is to finish the group as the first team.’ After the game at Selhurst Park, Antonio Conte said he felt every player had performed below par. Alonso was asked what receiving criticism such as that felt like. ‘It’s the truth. It wasn’t our best game on Saturday. It’s a good call from him to motivate us and to make us work to change things from the last performance. ‘Football is a sport that changes very quickly and tomorrow is a good chance to do a good performance and build up from there. The only solution is to work hard and win the next one.’ That comes at Stamford Bridge against the Italian side currently in fifth place in Serie A. Alonso said they are a very strong team and we can expect a tough evening. He also identified Edin Dzeko as one man in particular to watch. On our own front man Alvaro Morata, Alonso said he has looked good in training, and he expects his compatriot to pick up from where he left off before his hamstring injury should he feature tomorrow. Alonso also commented on the general state of the squad right now. ‘It’s normal when you play in four competitions there are so many games, and because of this there is more risk of injury or tiredness. We train very well to stay away from injuries and it is something weird that is happening now with the injuries. ‘The players are very fit and we are ready to play all these games. Hopefully we will get these players back soon and we will not have any more injuries.’ |
raumdeuter:Funny thing be say....that shyte in imo cuts across most of the governors in the country. It is a big shame really.... |
[sup][/sup] Lana1:What is there to talk about a coach who just won the epl in his first season with a team threatening to end up in relegation a season before he took over? I don't know why you think the media is only on moanrinhoes case here? Afterall...we have been dealing with speculations about contes job before the season even started, and it is still happening till now. Anyways, you shouldn't be disturbing yourself about what people or the media is saying when it comes to moanrinhoe, bcuz your expensive Sam allardyce will always be in the news or be the news..... for good or bad reasons,we that sacked him twice know that much. |
![]() |
Lana1:Oga Lana....what has Lord Conte failing to win two games in a row got to do with anything ? Is not the same team moanrinhoe aka the expensive onigbinde or Sam allardyce almost relegated, that Lord Conte used in winning the epl a season after? You obviously missed the entire point of my post burr lemme ask you bros....why will a manager choose to park a double decker with a striker worth in excess of 85million pounds while playing the young English talent as a right back, and the French Henry as a left back, against a team that have conceded in virtually all their games this season if I am not mistaken? |
