My first Job just after NYSC as the PA to the Director of College of about 2000 students and 74 staff was an experience.

Whenever my boss travels (which happens most of the time), I take charge of everything including staff renumeration and recruitment (teachers can resign like no man's business).

I was a teacher for two months before I got promoted to the PA. At first my colleagues seem to make slight fun of me...it was funny but not funny. Seriously.
How I coped:
1. I changed my wardrobe, slowly but consistently. I guess it changed how they perceived me.
2. I talk less, but I keep my words.
3. I 'punish' staff when its due. You might get enemies at the beginning but they will hold you at high esteem for not compromising.
4. Say what you mean and mean what you say, but ensure you do not disrespect your colleagues, especially in your manners of approach.
5. When an older staff isn't comfortable with your decision, you have to be careful because some junior staff strong pass management. Built an 'Ally force' amongst certain staff who will always stand with you.
6. Commend your 'rivals' when they do something good or perceived as good. Give them roles to perform, like head projects etc. Some are out to make you look incompetent, when you give them roles or try their ideas it will gradually be obvious why you would always be their 'senior' in the job.
7. Don't flare up! Handle issues calmly. Peeps are going to get on your nerves, don't go 'is it because you are older than me?' Bla bla bla....don't toll that path. Silently show them pepper, without saying it.
8. Remember the Golden rule...someday you might have a younger person who is in control.
9. Don't be a cry baby, reporting every issue to your boss. You can report some before they report first shaaa. Because na who first go police dey win case. The ones you can handle, you handle.
10. Respect their experience (they were already working there while you were still scrambling for expo @ IMSU), modify it though as much as you can. cux you might just pass off as 'clueless'.
11. greet them when you see them, ask about their family if the environment permits.

...for all its grandeur, the result will vindicate the claim. Granted that it's going to take a process and is expectant as a long term solution, if it's extremely suffocating in the short term, how many people will survive to benefit the long term?

Furthermore, as clear as the policy may be (arguably so), clear implementation is of more importance.

That’s the advice coming from the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), following an“urgent call to action” by cybersecurity firm Trend Micro. The version of QuickTime on Apple computers is not affected.

What’s the rush? Trend Micro found two critical flaws in the PC version of Apple’s media-playing software that could let hackers take over victims’ computers.


And is Apple fixing the flaws? Nope. According to Trend Micro, after the security firm advised Apple about the vulnerabilities back in March, Apple waited four months before telling Trend Micro that it would simply stop supporting QuickTime for Microsoft’s Windows, and give users instructions for how to remove it.

“We’re not aware of any active attacks against these vulnerabilities currently. But the only way to protect your Windows systems from potential attacks against these or other vulnerabilities in Apple QuickTime now is to uninstall it,” wrote Trend Micro’s Christopher Budd in the advisory.

Apple last issued a security patch for QuickTime for Windows on January 7, but it clearly didn’t fix the flaws in question.


It’s not normal for a company of Apple’s scale to not warn customers of its intention to drop support for software, particularly very widely-used software that’s been around for over two decades. Sure, QuickTime isn’t the best media-playing software available for Windows, but a lot of people install it bundled with iTunes.

Fortune asked Apple if it had intended to give users a heads-up, but the company declined to give a statement on the matter.

NYSC Boy, Others Arrested For Robbery; Lady Lured Through Facebook & Stripped N*ked
The Anambra state Police Command have arrested nine suspects including a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over alleged armed robbery and kidnapping.


Police PRO, DSP Ali Okechukwu, made the disclosure on Thursday in Awkuzu, while briefing journalists. He said the arrest, carried out by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) was as a result of information volunteered by the public.

He said that the Corper on March 22, 2016, conspired with another suspect and broke into the Igwe’s lodge at Abagana and robbed students of the National Open University of their handsets, laptops and cash of N92,000.

“On March 6 at about 2100hrs, four kidnappers who hailed from Obosi in Idemili Local Government, lured their victim (a young lady), out of Onitsha Sports Club, via Facebook to Oguta Road in Onitsha, where she was kidnapped at an uncompleted building.

“The victim was also kept for days until the ransom of N500,000 was paid.

“The victim was stripped n*ked and video recorded after robbing her of a Samsung Galaxy phone, blue tap phone and wristwatch all valued at N90,000,” Okechukwu said.

DSP Okechukwu, who disclosed that all the suspects confessed to the crimes, noted that items recovered from them included one locally made short gun with live cartridge and an axe.

But I have come to the conclusion that it is way easier to support an opposition in Nigeria.
Because there seem to be a fundamental fault in the system that ensures that the incumbent government 'must' come short on expectations...even if they have good intentions. It happened before now it is still happening now.

Hence its a win-win for the opposition.
