No portion of scripture is invalid. Christ have declared all free in him but some were still holding on to the past. God does not forcefully convert people to his will. There are bad examples and good examples to learn from in the scriptures. Some for edification,some for reproving, yet others for instruction.

For starters, you know and understand the meaning of the word 'submission' I assume, now knowing this, how is it fair to expect it of your partner or in this case, wife? More so when the husband is not treating her right.

The Bible only begin to make sense when you believe! The Old testament was a shadow of things to come in the New testament things were perfected. Go and read the book of Romans down to Hebrews and you will understand the laws of the old testament and the faith and grace of the new testament. It takes divine illumination to understand Gods word...
