All glory be to God. Psalms 23:4, 6 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. ....and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7b NKJV |
God's ways are always astonishing! Read this amazing story. Naaman was a great man, the captain of the Syrian army around 885 to 850BC; he was a mighty man of valour. However, he had a "but" in his life. He had an infirmity. The Bible says "he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper" 2 kings 5:1 God used a little Israelite maid who told Naaman's wife that he should meet Elisha the prophet of God in Samaria (northern Israel). When Naaman and the king of Syria heard that the prophet of God could cure his leprosy, the king sent a letter to the king of Israel with the assumption that Elisha was a subject to the king of Israel and that the king would command him to heal Naaman. The King of Israel was rattled when he saw the letter, he was even angry; he tore his clothes and said "Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me" 2 Kings 5:7 When Elisha heard this, he made a profound statement to the king "let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel". Naaman came to Elisha with a large entourage expecting a public or grand display of a miracle by Elisha. Elisha did not even come out to meet him but sent his servant to tell Naaman to go and wash himself seven times in the River Jordan. Naaman, a proud man, was furious. Naaman expected Elisha to come out, respect him, and perform an ostentatious ritual (as observed in the Syrian religion) to heal him. And to add to the insult, Elisha had chosen the Jordan river rather the cleaner rivers in Naaman's home town in Damascus. Naaman felt Elisha's behaviour and instruction were demeaning to a high-status man like him. He left in rage. However, his servants advised him to obey so as to be healed. Then, Naaman went to the Jordan river, "and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." 2 Kings 5:14 Behold, Naaman was healed. Yes, his skin was now smooth and appeared as the skin of a fresh little child. How amazing! Naaman was grateful. Then he came with great gifts to Elisha but the man of God refused. The healing and blessings of God are free, not to be bought with money. However, Elisha's servant Gehazi went behind his master and lied to Naaman that Elisha had changed his mind. Gehazi received gifts from Naaman. God revealed this to Elisha. When Elisha asked him of his whereabouts, Gehazi lied. The story can be read in 2 Kings 5. Surely, Gehazi regretted his decision all hi life. There are serious lessons here 1. Whereas a grown up king of Israel was rattled and he trembled, the faith of a little maid in the God of Israel brought about Naaman's healing. 2. God likes the humble and detests the arrogant. God, using Elisha, wanted Naaman to learn a lesson in humility. And Naaman did learn. Being humble at last, he got his healing. If he remained arrogant, he would have remained a leper all his life. 3. Our expectations may not always be in line with God's ways. Naaman expected a public, dramatic and dignifying method of healing. However, God's ways are simple and pure. Just washing his body in the Jordan. Period. And that gave the result. 4. God's gifts are free. God is loving, kind and good. His love is everlasting. He wants the very best for all souls. The most important lesson is that this story foretells the cleansing Power in the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Fulfilling so many Old Testament prophesies, Jesus was born about 800 years after this story. The Bible says "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" John 1: 29 Just as Naaman became clean after dipping himself in the river, anyone can be made clean from the guilt of sin, shame, sickness, addiction, poverty, evil, death and condemnation, by being washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. The Blood of Christ makes us whole. "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood" Rev 1: 5 All we have to do is "Believe in God, the Almighty Creator of all. Believe in, and confess, Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Live a life in submission to God, obeying His word. Ask God for direction. He would send His Holy Spirit to guide you always" My friend, are you washed in the blood of the lamb? God bless you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2ZUWyl20Uw&list=RDg2ZUWyl20Uw&start_radio=1

Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. |
No one should be treated as God. Never. There has NEVER been anyone like God. There IS no one like God. There will NEVER be anyone like God. The Creator Almighty, the God of the universe, my God and your God, is the only true God. Period! A father can be respected and should be treated as a father that he is, NEVER like God. Yes, the father did well but he should never be treated like God. The father is not even the god they see. Yes, he is the God-sent man they see and he is their father. The God of the heavens and earth our Creator is GOD alone. Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. |
