http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=1870 The Nigeria left back,Taye Taiwo is dragging his feet in training.A year before the end of his contract at French Champions,Marseille, the ex Gabros defender is facing competition from Gabriel Heinze for a starting slot in defense.Taiwo is fishing for a move outside the Velodrome and a bid by Atletico Madrid was turned down by Marseille. The Marseille President,Jean-Claude Dassier has also cut short the rumors this weekend by saying : "It is resolved, he will stay. I'm happy because he is a player of value" . A decision that does not suit Taiwo, but Marseille. Taiwo resumed training on Sunday at Marseille. And we can not say he was particularly happy to be there.Although,he had finished his vacation, but that was not the only reason. He did not put a lot in the training at Saint-Jean-de-Luz.Citing a slight discomfort in his knee,he even refused to do some laps on the field. According to La Provence,Didier Deschamps and Taiwo had an argument in the centre circle moments after training started. Taye Taiwo is not inclined to remain at the club despite the firmness of the Marseille President,Jean-Claude Dassier. ''He(Taiwo) did not feel angry or not.I don't know if it was the promise of my predecessor, but i have no commitment with him. He has a contract. He will be there next season,''Jean-Claude Dassier said. Taiwo's case is getting more complex by the day and you have to settle it with tweezers.According to fresh reports in the English media,Newcastle United have joined the race for the services of the Nigerian want-away defender. , We will give you daily updates on the saga of Taye Taiwo |

@semid4lyfe:Really,i think you need a life as your name suggests. Why do you think a Nigerian website should make up stories. They may have their sources which they may not want to disclose.Well,if you don't believe allnigeriasoccer.com because it's a 'new' Nigerian website. Then check out the story in France Football which awards the 'European Footballer of the Year' and the French Footballer of the Year awards for UEFA and the FFF respectively. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.francefootball.fr/FF/breves2010/20100619_220531_haruna-plait-a-l-inter.html&ei=0I0gTPO_M8qUOMfs5VQ&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBsQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3DTransferts%2B:%2BHaruna%2Bpla%25C3%25AEt%2B%25C3%25A0%2Bl%2527Inter%26hl%3Den You can also view the story in TuttoSport, the number one sports daily in Turin and Genoa. If some journos are giving stale information, allnigeriasoccer report stories live with daily updates on any particular story. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.fcinternews.it/%3Faction%3Dread%26idnotizia%3D21558&ei=EY8gTIbeBoiMOOOjoDw&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBoQ7gEwAQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3DTuttosport%2Band%2Bharuna%2Blukman%26hl%3Den I hope this settles your ignorance and no more comments from me on this post again. |

http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=603 Allnigeriasoccer.com can report that the Super Eagles 30 man preliminary list is ready and the only surprise is the inclusion of OB Odense foward,Peter Utaka in the squad. The list will be made public on Monday after Lagerback meets with the NFF hierarchy to defend his choice of players. Another player staging a comeback is the Red Bull Salzburg defender,Rabiu Afolabi. His career has been on a high this season with sterling performances at the heart of defence for Salzburg notching goals in the process. Domenico Ricci, the agent of Giovanni Trapattoni and an expert on African players rates him highly. In an interview with allnigeriasoccer,he declared: ''Right now,for the Super Eagles, the best man in defence is Rabiu Afolabi. He's big, strong, has a good leap and a good header of the ball.'' |

http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=438 German international Stefan Kiessling (Bayer Leverkusen, 21 goals) is leading the way after 32 games. Wolfburg superstar Edin Dzeko is close behind with 20 strikes, with Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi and Lucas Barrios of Borussia Dortmumd both on 18. But sheer number of goals doesn’t necessarily provide an indication of who is the best forward in the Bundesliga. The list was drawn up by dividing the total number of playing minutes by the amount of goals, with only strikers who have completed 15 games considered. 10th - Albert Bunjaku - Nurumberg - 1 goal every 167 minutes 9th - Ivica Olic - Bayern Munich - 1 goal every 164 minutes 8th - Kevin Kuranyi - Schalke 04 - 1 goal every 147 minutes 7th - Edin Dzeko -Wolfsburg - 1 goal every 141 minutes 6th - Lucas Barios - Borrusia Dortmund - 1 goal every 136 minutes 5th - Stefan Kießling - Bayer Leverkusen - 1 goal every 131 minutes 3rd - Cacau - Stuttgart - 1 goal every 130 minutes 3rd - Claudio Pizarro - Werder Bremen - 1 goal every 130 minutes 2nd - Arjen Robben - Bayern Munich - 1 goal every 114 minutes 1st-Obafemi Martins - Wolfsburg - 1 goal every 106 minutes Martins has scored 6 goals in 15 games and has a total of 633 minutes game time. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=378 Manchester United remain hopeful of signing Nigerian wonderkid Ramon Azeez. The Future Pro Academy lad had successful trials at United earlier this season and his impact also attracted attention from Manchester City. Ifeanyi Abanum, the editor of allnigeriasoccer.com, told tribalfootball.com: "He underwent successful trials with Manchester United, but because of work permit issues a deal has not been reached . "Manchester United and his agent are trying to go around this by invoking the English Premier League 'special talent clause' as he doesn't have the caps to qualify or a work permit." |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=379 Nigeria starlet Sani Emmanuel has missed out on a dream move to England. The U17 international striker enjoyed successful trials at both Chelsea and Tottenham this year, but has seen a dream switch to the Premiership fall through. Ifeanyi Abanum, the editor of allnigeriasoccer.com, told tribalfootball.com Emmanuel was taken to England by John Shittu, the agent of Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. Abanum told tribalfootball.com: "After undergoing successful trials, a deal could not be reached with Chelsea because of work permit issues. "So he was taken to Tottenham. Again, he passed the trials at White Hart Lane, but Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, insists he doesn't want to sign any players until after the World Cup. "Both deals (Chelsea and Tottenham) are now officially off." |

@Babe:He can't be so good as you said and played only four matches for a lowly team like SIENA.We should not allow mediocrity to thrive in Nigeria.SPEAK OUT.It may interest you to know that i am the author of that story.I spoke to some top agents,Giovanni Trapattoni and Roberto Mancini's agent and they didn't speak well of him.Not everything can be published. As a person,i love Odibe. He's humility personified. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=294 Arsenal are watching the Torino defender Angelo Obinze Ogbonna.Ogbonna has played for the Italian Under 21 side and is regarded as the best player in the squad. He was called up to the Super Eagles for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers and for a friendly against France last June, but has yet to commit his future to Nigeria. Turin sources say Arsenal are showing serious interest in Ogbonna as manager Arsene Wenger prepares for massive changes to his centre-half stocks. He's previously been linked with Manchester City. Last December his car fell from a bridge into a river in Turin. Although the accident happened in the early hours of the morning, poor visibility was the official cause, and Ogbonna was lucky to escape from the crash with just thoracic trauma. And, presumably, a severely bruised ego. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=277 Giovanni Trapattoni's agent,Domenico Ricci, gave Siena's Michael Odibe a vote of no confidence on Monday when asked about the performance of the 21 year old Siena youngster. Speaking to allnigeriasoccer from his base in Italy,Ricci said: '' Last game he made a mistake and the coach put him out. I do not now know the issue.Siena won the match 3-2,but that was after the coach substituted him.'' Michael Odibe has shown match rustiness in the games he has been able to garner. He's played 4 times in the Serie A for Siena this season, including two as a substitute. The best bet is to whisk him to the Under 23 Team before he churns out for the full Super Eagles team. This is what Adam Scine of goal.com said about him in picking him as the worst central defender in the Serie A in the Week 33 round of matches. ''Michael Odibe (Siena): Nervous and dangerous in the tackle, he picked up a booking and risked a red card more than once in the first-half before coach Alberto Malesani hooked the young Nigerian after the break. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=267 Chris Beatie, the editor of one of the top football websites in the world,tribalfootball.com,has spoken to us on Nedum Onuoha, who is expected to be visited by Lars Lagerback this week, our sources tell us. "It doesn't surprise me Nigeria are so keen to add Nedum Onuoha to their World Cup plans. He's an outstanding player and regarded very highly inside the Premiership. "He's been hindered this season due to injury, but it's no coincidence that Manchester City's sudden surge into fourth place has come just when Onuoha is back in the first team. He's a similar player to Isaac Okoronkwo, can play at fullback, centre-half and also as a holding player in midfield. He's not as tall as Okoronkwo, but has a good leap and I can see him comfortably playing at centre-half for Nigeria. "He came through City's academy and is admired by Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez. If he came onto the market, there'd be no shortage of offers for him from England's big clubs. "There's not a lot of competition amongst his England peers at fullback, so I could see him forcing his way into the senior England team in 18 months' time if he was able to stay injury free. If Lagerback chooses to take him to South Africa, Nigeria will be securing a ten-year first-choice player, absolutely no doubt about that. "Potentially, it could be a big loss for England if Nigeria eventually do secure his commitment." Beatie concluded. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=253 Yes,you heard it here first. The main player the Greek national team will be banking on to upstage Nigeria at the World Cup is not Celtic's Georgios Samaras or the captain,Giorgios Karagounis.(6 goals in 91 internationals)He is the new golden boy of Greece football-Vassilis Torosidis, can play virtually anywhere across the pitch and is sure to be invaluable to his country when they bid to get out of Group B in the World Cup finals. We take a closer look at the ultimate utility man. Name: Vassilis Torosidis Age: 24 Club: Olympiacos Position: Right back, can also play: left back, central defender, defensive midfielder, midfielder (centre, left, right), attacking midfielder and supporting striker Statistics: (Greek Super League & Champions League, 2009/2010): Appearances: 15, Goals: 3, Assists: 2, Yellow cards: 2 Vassilis Torosidis is a phenomenon of Greek football. The 24-year-old is hugely versatile and regularly plays in different positions both for his club and country. Boasting great energy, a willingness to get forward and strong heading ability, the Olympiacos star is a manager's dream as he can fill in all over the park. Predominantly an attack-minded right-back, Torosidis has exclusively played on the left side of defence for the Greek national team. Although predominantly right-footed, he has a strong left peg and as a result can cover any position along the backline and in midfield. In midfield, his strongest position is as a defensive or central midfielder and he has also been used far higher up the pitch, most notably this season under Brazilian coach Zico when he was played behind the strikers. This versatility could be problematic for Torosidis in the coming years but thanks to his stubborn and fearless play he cannot be left out of the starting XI for either club or country. With Greece in a tough-looking World Cup group against Argentina, Nigeria and South Korea, the Olympiacos star will be a crucial member of Otto Rehhagel's squad in South Africa. Torosidis started his career at Skoda Xanthi and quickly became one of the most promising players of the club. He was transferred to Olympiacos in January 2007 and managed to take over the right-back position with solid performances. He's one of the most consistent and reliable players in the team.He has scored two goals in 25 appearances for Greece. The 24-year-old relishes the physical battle, in which he usually triumphs. Torosidis is well built, 6ft 1in tall and very strong, he has an aggressive playing style and he rarely loses physical battles in defence. When he plays at the back he is a threat not only running from a deep position but also at set-pieces where he displays remarkable heading ability. Running at the opposition, Torosidis also displays great technique on the ball. He is a good passer with both feet and the quality of his attacking play was demonstrated most notably by a glorious chip against AEK Athens in September. He scored a brace in a 2-1 win with his other goal scored with his head. As can be expected of such a quality player who would boost any manager's options, Torosidis has been scouted by a large amount of top European clubs and a transfer to another Champions League side is inevitable. He is contracted to Olympiacos until the end of the 2012/2013 season and currently has a release clause of seven million euros. The list of clubs linked is long and includes: Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Bologna, Celtic, Marseille and Parma. During the most recent transfer window, Torosidis was said to be on his way to Liverpool and a move to the Premier League would suit his bustling playing style and strength in the air. Last year Torosidis admitted: "To tell you the truth, I grow tired of this noise, I have been listening to it from the first six months after I joined Olympiacos." To further fuel the rumours he added: "I believe there isn't a Greek who doesn't want to play abroad. Whoever doesn't admit it is lying." In 2009/2010, Torosidis has continued to improve. His campaign was cut short by around six weeks due to a knee injury but he is closing in on his best goal scoring season since arriving at Olympiacos. Torosidis is improving season by season and with his versatility could be both a star at the World Cup and then one of the most sought-after players in Europe next summer. |
I don't believe in rankings. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=196 Nigeria has dropped one place in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking just released. The country now occupies the 22nd position.African powerhouse,Egypt are up three places to 14th position from their previous 17th position. Spain continue to lead the way ahead of Brazil and the Netherlands, but there is considerable movement in the lower half of the top ten: Portugal (4th, up 2) have overtaken Italy (5th, down 1) and Germany (6th, down 1), while England (7th, up 1) continue to climb the global ladder and have swapped places with France (8th, down 1). Croatia (10th, up 1) have returned to the top ten after a two-month absence. Australia (19th, up 4) have leapt into the top 20 following their victory over Indonesia during qualification for the AFC Asian Cup 2011. Among the top 50 teams, Norway (24th, up 9) and Turkey (35th, up 6) have also made significant ground thanks to their wins over 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa participants in early March: Norway got the better of Slovakia, while Turkey emerged triumphant over Honduras. However, the team that has made the most progress in terms of points and places in this month’s ranking is Senegal (72nd, up 22), who were too strong for former European champions and South Africa 2010 qualifiers Greece in a recent friendly match. The majority of changes in this month’s ranking are due to the devaluation of results from last year. In particular, the latest edition reflects the devaluation of the results of the many FIFA World Cup qualification games played a year ago. In all, the results of 47 matches have been taken into account in the latest ranking, 39 of them friendly matches and eight of them Asian Cup qualifiers. This takes the number of international 'A' matches played in 2010 to 145. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=168 The Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi admits the team need to "fight" if they are to keep their hopes of winning the league and FA Cup alive. Chelsea are third in the league and four points off leaders Manchester United, albeit with a game in hand, following their 1-1 draw with Blackburn yesterday when, Mikel admits, Chelsea made some basic errors to allow the hosts back into the game. The draw was the second disappointing result of the week for Chelsea following their Champions League exit to Internazionale last Tuesday. "We are all professionals and when things are not going well we mustn't be down," said Mikel. "This is when we need everyone to show support and to be together; team, fans and coaching staff, and hopefully we can put things right by the end of the season. "It has been really difficult but the manager has been there for us and we all are sticking together. We have a game against Portsmouth [on Wednesday] and we have to go there and win." Asked if it was up to the players to prove they deserved to stay at the club, Mikel replied: "I think if we keep going like this then it is down to that. But we have to fight as a team, not as individuals." Roman Abramovich's appearance at Chelsea's training base last week had led to speculation about the nature of his remarks to the players, but Mikel said the owner "just came to show support". "We still have the Double to win and that's what he came to assure us," the player told the Evening Standard. "He's a football fan and understands but at the same time he wants us to put things right. "Everyone was shattered after losing to Inter, which is why he came over – to tell us to keep going. All we can do now is look forward to Wednesday and, hopefully, put things right. "I think the belief, mentality and everything is still there. In football sometimes you have a bad spell and we are having ours right now. We made the mistakes so we have to repair this." |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=129 Victor Moses has invited Nigeria officials to watch him play and train for Wigan with a view to representing the Super Eagles at the World Cup. Wigan’s new £2.5million attacking starlet was included in the last England Under-21 squad, but did not feature. The 19-year-old also qualifies for the African nation because he was born in Lagos, and both his parents are from Nigeria. Now Nigeria’s new coach Lars Lagerback is keen to test out Moses in a friendly before naming his squad for South Africa. But Moses wants to concentrate on establishing himself with Premier League Wigan in the remainder of the season following his January move from Crystal Palace. Moses is, however, still keen on possibly representing his home nation at the World Cup. Moses only played for England’s youth teams because of residency rules but could now change his allegiance back to the land of his birth. And he has asked Nigeria representatives to come and watch him and meet Latics boss Roberto Martinez before making a decision. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=122 Victor Moses is ready to answer a World Cup call from Nigeria - after being snubbed by England's under-21 team. Wigan's £2.5 million signing qualifies for Nigeria because he was born there - with both his parents also from the country. Attacker Moses only played for England's youth teams because of residency rules but now he could change his allegiance back to the land of his birth. Moses is 'fed up' with being left out of the starting line-up and bench for the under-21 game last week when Stuart Pearce stuck with his old favourites. |
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=114 Former Falcons player, Maureen Mmadu has revealed exclusively to Allnigeriasoccer.com that she is not about to end her self imposed exile from the female national team. ''I wasn't well treated by the Sani Lulu led NFF.We were poorly treated. They reduced our win bonus from $2,000 to $400.It is not really a question of money for me but what of the young players who have got nothing.Yinka Kudaisi who was part of us(the famous Sweden trio who got sacked by their clubs for honouring a national invitation) was left abandoned in Nigeria, uncared for by the NFF.I thank God for everything,i was able to get a good club after that.'' ''I arrived from Nigeria last week for pre-season training, where i went to spend my holidays.I recently changed clubs. It is one of the top female clubs in Norway-Kolbotn.I was courted by several clubs but i settled for them. They are a big club with four international players and they came third in the league last season.'' the soft spoken and humble Maureen told allnigeriasoccer. ''Presently,i am setting up an academy in Anambra State for both boys and girls.I want to give back to the society because i was once like them.It is going to be a very big project.I and my management team are looking for sponsors to achieve this goal.'' she said. |
@Omar:You have spoken very well and straight to the point. But in the Nigerian scheme of thiings, after the coach draws his list of invited players, those inactive players with godfathers will find their name on the list.If Yakubu does not improve,he MUST not go the World Cup,same with Kanu.I prefer us doing poorly at the World Cup,then 4 years later in Brazil,we perform brilliantly.KANU,YAKUBU,OLOFINJANA,KALU UCHE,ORDIA have no business going to the World Cup. |

http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=110 Edwin Lars Lagerback's first official assignment with the national team was to discuss the state of affairs of the national team with the team skipper,Nwankwo Kanu over dinner. His shocking appointment is generating ripples even in his home land because he is known for a defensive approach to football. The Super Eagles have so many flair players and are an attacking force. The choice of Lars Lagerback was a bomb - not just for the football world and the more well-known candidates - but also for the team's stars. A member of the NFF called Obafemi Martins,Wolfsburg late last week and he was very surprised of the appointment. ''I was surprised. Yet, when I heard that Lagerback would coach the national team,it sounded like an interesting solution. Lagerback is a very meritorious coach.'' He Andersson (Roland) I know less about. It is important we don't put a lot of pressure on them.''Martins told a Swedish newspaper. On the choice of the new manager staying in Nigeria,Martins said: "It is the perfect place to stay. A beautiful city. Abuja is one of the finest cities in Nigeria. I am from Lagos, but there are really good restaurants in Abuja. Royal Thai Cuisine is good and Ciao another. All he wants is located in Abuja. He will love it.'' The Swede returns to his homeland tomorrow and he is expected to meet some high profile Super Eagles players in Europe. March 4: Returning to Sweden. 6-16 March: Provisional period for Lagerback, travel around Europe to meet with professional players in the various clubs. http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=103 The latest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking reveals two changes of position in the top ten, as well as the return of a team that were European champions not so long ago. Spain continue to lead the way ahead of Brazil and the Netherlands at the top, but further back Germany (5th, up 1) and Portugal (6th, down 1) swap places, as do England (8th, up 1) and Argentina (9th, down 1). Greece (10th, up 2) also return to the top ten for the first time since June 2008. Their fortunes are in sharp contrast to those of Egypt, last month’s major movers. The CAF Africa Cup of Nations winners fall seven places and are now in 17th place. The Pharaohs are still the highest-placed African team, however, just ahead of Cameroon (20th), Nigeria (21st) and Côte d’Ivoire (22nd). The majority of changes in this month’s ranking are due to the devaluation of results from last year. Korea DPR (102nd, down 17) have fallen significantly, for example, due to the devaluation of their victory over Saudi Arabia in a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifying match last year. Teams inside the top 50 that have benefited from the devaluation of past results include Serbia (13th, up 6), Slovenia (27th, up 6) and Slovakia (31st, up 5). Two teams – Montenegro (71st, up 1) and the Comoros Islands (175th, up 1) – are currently in their highest-ever position on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Thirty-one matches, all friendlies, have been taken into account in this edition of the Ranking, taking the total number of international 'A' matches played so far in 2010 to 98. More movement can be expected in the next edition of the ranking as a considerable number of matches will be played on 3 March, a date reserved for friendly matches in the international match calendar. It is an opportunity for many teams, not just those who have qualified for South Africa 2010, to make progress in the ranking. |
