Ok, that means you can at least upgrade to 4.2.1 which isn't bad IMO.
What baseband are you on? you can check that under settings-> general->about-> Modem Firmware (Baseband)
Are you tech savvy? can you follow instructions on how to upgrade your ios if given? If not you can contact Sun_Temi or TumaBaba to help you out, that is if you stay in lagos.

some are free apps from the app store and some cracked apps from installous.

tried that, it extracts, builds the package well in iFunBox and installs ok in iTunes, but when i launch the application on the iPhone it just crashes (closes immediately). any insights to the reason or other pointers?

is there a way to install downloaded iPA apps on iDevices not synced to itunes? iFunBox claims to do this, and it does install the iPAs but when I try to run the apps they crash. Just so you understand i'm trying to install some apps from my laptop to a friend's iPhone, but as always,  itunes wants me to sync the iPhone and replace the existing apps with the ones from my library, but the problelm is i dont wanna delete all his apps cos i dont have some of them on my library.

Secondly, is there a way to rip off some of the apps on his iphone to my library? i know I can transfer purcahed apps to my library and install them but the problem is that my friend is a noob and someone helped him install the apps and he doesnt have the password for the username the apps are locked to.

Why cant i upgrade to 4.3.3 from 4.1 my friend said it has to be the latest ie 4.3.5. Pls is 4.3.3 upgrade still posible for my 3gs?

Cos Apple is no longer signing 4.3.3 and unless you've got your SHSH saved locally or on Cydia, then you're stuck with 4.1 or upgrading to 4.3.5 which only supports a tethered jailbreak

Yes, Very Possible. just launch itunes, click the itune store, click on app store on the top pane, search and download desired app to PC, then sync or drag app to your iDevice.

Modded opera, to my knowledge, NO
Unlocking option is Gevey sim,
Pinging apps are WHATSAPP, LIVEPROFILE, You can even ping your pals using blackberry and android, provided they also have the app installed. you could also try nimbuzz for YIM and FB chat.

Its possible to software unlock, but not for you because (see below). As par installing 2go, iPhone doesn't run java, so its not supported. but i read somewhere on this forum and maybe on this thread (not sure), thats theres a way to run java on the iPhone and install 2go, dont know how true it is though.

Bro, That's all the procedure you require to jailbreak ios 4.3.3, hence Sun_Temi telling the guy he was lucky to have that particular ios version on page 74. Just visit www.jailbreakme.com with your Safari, tap on free an then install Cydia. Easy Peasy.

Every man with his own tastes, Me, i prefer Cydia apps and tweaks. hera are some of my favourites
-SBSettings (SBSettings allows you to have a toggle menu pull down from your status bar, making it easy to turn on and off wifi and clear memory.)

- iFile (File Management and more)

-LockInfo (This tweak uses your status bar as a drop down to display any notifications that you might have received all on one page)

-CallBar (incoming calls don't take over screen, small dropdown box appears asking to accept or decline calls)

-BiteSMS (Ease of texting and additonal tweaks)

-CyDelete (This tweak makes it painless to completely get rid of any unwanted Cydia apps that you may have installed but don't use or want anymore. Just hold down the icon to make it wiggle and hit the X.)

itorch4 (torch for your iphone 4)

Opera Mini (free from the app store, makes my SNAIL Airtel connection bearable)

aTube (download youtube videos directly to your iDevice, better than MxTube)

Fake Carrier (change your network name to whatever you desire)

and from the app store,
Facebook, Twitter, Skype, whatsapp (cool), liveprofile, Nimbuzz, . guy i could go on and on. just look for what interests you.
