Hello, Congrats to everyone that has been approved so far and those of us waiting we shall celebrate with you soon. I have a few questions and I hope someone will be kind enough to help.
1.) my case is already in transit from nvc to Lagos embassy. How long does it take?
2.) can I go ahead and schedule appointment or wait till I receive p3
3.) has anyone tried to book an appointment lately, what’s the availability looking like?
4.) where can I do Medicals in Abuja.

1. It took less than a week for mine.
2. You need to track the status on the CEAC portal. once it says READY, you can go ahead and schedule an appointment to avoid delays. See link below for why:

The general consensus is to go ahead and schedule your interview once it shows ready on CEAC portal.

So.....i got a Christmas / New Year gift yesterday.

My EAD (work authorization) and AP (travel authorization) was approved yesterday (Dev 27, 2019).

See attached timeline.....took roughly 3 months and 10 days. Holiday has finished, time to start the hustle.....

Hopefully you will get the email but i really did not use the email for anything. I already got all the information i needed for the interview from visajourney. The email from the consulate only confirmed i was on the right track. However, i don't know the administrative implication of the email at the embassy's end.

Like I said, the best response to that question is the truth. If these responses posted by a vj member is the truth for Disguy1, then he can provide it as his answer if asked. However if its not, the CO might find out he's lying and that could affect his approval. The CO' s are experts at probing if they suspect sth fishy.

For instance, if they suspect you said sth that's not true, they can probe further by asking leading questions. The first option given by the vj member is to "test waters". The CO might ask why are you testing waters if you truly love her. They might also ask why don't she come to Nigeria to "test waters" since its much easier for her to come to Nigeria (since she is both Nigerian and American) than for you to go to America. Options 2, 3 and 4 doesnt apply to you since you are a guy. But even if you want to reverse it, they can still probe further by asking why. For instance, if you say you want her family in the States to get to know you, they will ask why not she also come to Nigeria to get to know your family....you get my drift?

Concerning frypuffpuff's suggestion, they can ask why don't she first come to Nigeria to meet your parents? They know the Nigerian customs and know that our customs value both parents of the bride and groom. They know that your parents are meant to see the bride and give their blessings as well. So they can probe along that line.

So, like I said earlier, there is no standard answer to that question. The only standard answer is the truth and nothing but the truth. If the truth is that you feel america is the best place for you and your future wife because it has a better economy than Nigeria or better security than Nigeria. Then go-ahead and say it. If the truth is that you also want to study in the US after marriage then say it. As long as you truly love your fiance, you are fine, the CO can't come in between your love for her. They can't deny two love birds coming together to get married. But if you don't love her, then.....I have nothing to say :-x. I trust you do love her.

Since it was written on the items for inteview that one must ensure that both numbers and duration of calls must show on their call logs details.

You can extract your chats, sms and phone logs/conversations with imazing app if you use iPhone. I’m sure there’s an app for Android as well...

Back to the question @disguy1. It's simple. Like thoughtful people have said before, the VO/CO know the cultures in Nigeria. Simply put, I will tell them; "my fiancée wants a traditional wedding. And we both have agreed to do the traditional wedding and go the court afterwards. She wants to experience the Nigeria traditional wedding. And I believe sir and ma that you're conversant with the Nigeria culture that a traditional wedding must be held in the parents house of the wife-to-be. As our tradition stands to be, myself, family and few relatives will honour her greatest wish"

Although, this answer is applicable for male k1 applicants with a female USC. Where una don see traditional wedding wey na for the man house dem dey do am? She wants a traditional wedding, and we have agreed on a traditional wedding and later on go to the court.

If you have a big Nigerian wedding and pay the same as for a Nigerian wife, then the US government believe more, it is the real love and marriage.

If you marry in US, the government and even your American wife see as you don't want to make any effort, you are not valuing the American wife the same as a Nigerian one, even you could be or will marry traditionally a Nigerian woman and the American marriage is just the formality for you for to get your green card.

I would like to see 1-2 years from now all of you who arrive now to US. How many of you are still married to your American wife / husband and how many of you are cheating, travelling back to Nigeria to visit and how many of you have a traditional wife in Nigeria or will have.

Hi Guys, so I’ve been reviewing interview questions. There’s one that has me stumped.

“Why are you getting married in the US?” OR “Why don’t you get married in Nigeria?”

Please what’s the best way to answer this question? seems like a tricky question without a right answer. Would appreciate people who have been asked during their interviews to help out or anyone who has a helpful answer.

By the way, my response would have been: Because she has her whole family and job there and I do not intend to disrupt that.

Seems like an inadequate response to me though because I also have that here in naija.

@sandraigho attestation of birth certificate.
To get that you need
1: 2 passport photos
2: photocopy of means of identification(intl passport drivers license and co)
3: An avidavit of age declaration sworn on your behalf by your Mother, Father, sister, brother uncle etc but the person must be older than you (high court) their photo attached to it
When all these are ready just take them to the National Population commission office(heard one is in surulere) the amount it will cost am yet to confirm the exact amount lld get back on price tomorrow..
After the attestation of birth certificate is issued it ll still need to be authenticated by ministry of foreign affairs Abuja(especially if its for immi purpose)my question now is cant it be authenticate in Lagos ?will one have to travel to abuja just to authenticate it or authenticating is not applicable to this type of visa?thank you

Did mine for 10k attestation. 2k Affidavit @Surulere NPC.

I don't think we need to authenticate it, going by what our predecessors (LegitBachelor for one) have submitted. See attachment for Legit's comment on the subject.

That’s the same one I have. I am getting the attestation done at NPC Surulere. Actually going to pick it up in an hour. From what I’ve read, the short form Birth Cert is not recognised by the CO.

I advise you get the attestation done as well.

I was revisiting some older posts and saw that people were able to update their profiles with work experience and other information. I did not see anything relating to this when I logged into CGI portal. Do people have different views on the portal?

I created my profile in 2016 when i applied for a B1 visa. so when I was trying to log on to traveldocs for this k1 application, I saw the instruction that returning users should not create a new account but to use their old one, which is what I used. I am only able to edit Passport details, contact details and mailing address.

Did i Miss something?

That's not the NOA2. The NOA2 is the notice of approval of the K1 petition from USCIS. This letter you posted is from NVC.

Usually you get the NOA2 before you even receive this letter. You need to have that Notice of Approval so make sure she has it and she sends a copy to you.

We are referring to the mail she received that says your I-129f was approved before it was sent off to NVC. The validity period is stated there. Looks like our case were approved the same day at the NVC. Now I have a partner ☺️☺️
