CrimeRivers Man Kills Wife In Domestic Fight Over Refusing To Cook by divinehand2003(op): 9:09pm On May 06, 2018
A 33-year-old old woman identified as Desire Sokari West was stabbed to death on Sunday by her husband and father of her children over a domestic dispute at a house the couple shared in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Daily Sun gathered that the victim, who was a mother of two boys, had a quarrel with her husband, Ibisaki, a native of Minama community in the same local government, over her supposedly refusing to prepare a meal for the family, which later resulted in a fight.

According to community sources, the victim had allegedly refused to prepare the meal as ordered by Ibisaki on Saturday, choosing instead to go out and celebrate her birthday with friends, before returning home late in the night.

Sources say the couple have had many domestic incidents in the past, which had led to their separation, but had later reconciled following the intervention of their families.

On the day of the latest incident, while the couple were engaged in a fight, Ibisaki reportedly broke a bottle and stabbed Sokari on her lap, resulting in severe bleeding.

All efforts to save her eventually failed, as doctors were not found in the hospitals she was rushed to.

Sokari was later taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in Choba, about an hours drive from the couple’s house, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

Tonye David, a resident of the community where the incident occurred, said that the victim celebrated her birthday on Saturday in the community, and was killed by her husband on Sunday morning during a fight that ensued between them over a domestic argument.

“What led to the fight was that, on Saturday, the husband told her to cook. But, instead, she ignored his instruction and went out to celebrate her birthday. So, when she went home later in the evening, she met her husband eating the soup she refused to prepare. She tried to eat the food already drunk, but the man stopped her and she lifted the plate and poured the soup on the husband,” Tony narrated.

“Her action did not go [down] well with her husband who immediately stood up started beating her. He picked a bottle he collected from her in the cause of the fight, broke it and stabbed her lap. She fell down and was bleeding heavily. They rushed her to the Health Centre but there was no doctor to attend to her; they took her to a medical store to stop the blood, but no one was there to attend to her. So, it was when they took her to the UPTH that they met a doctor who examined her and confirmed that she had died.”

Ibisaki, on hearing that Sokari might not survive the stabbing, reportedly submitted himself to the Buguma Police Station.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident to journalists, adding that the suspect had been arrested by the police and is cooperating in their investigation.

“The man is with us now; he has been arrested and helping us in our investigation. He stabbed his wife on her left leg and she later died of bleeding, though he said he did not intend to kill her,” the police spokesman said.

Nairaland GeneralArmoured Truck Showers Highway With $600,000 Cash by divinehand2003(op): 1:48pm On May 06, 2018
SOMETIMES it really pays to get to work on-time. That was the case Wednesday morning, when a Brinks truck showered commuters in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA with approximately $600,000 in cash.

The incident occurred when a rear door opened as the truck was travelling on Interstate 70.

Bags and bundles of money, along with loose bills, came showering out of the truck before it could come to a stop.

The driver apparently only learned what was going on when another driver waved at him and pointed to the back of the armoured truck.

Police rushed to the scene and tried to collect as much money as possible.

Several other drivers got down from their vehicles and helped themselves to as much of the cash as they could.

Residents of the adjacent neighbourhood also reportedly scaled a highway fence to grab money.

While it sounds like a chance of a lifetime to earn a quick buck or entire bag of cash on the way to work, these ‘lucky’ commuters could be in for a rude awakening.

That money comes with a price, since taking it is technically theft.

A state trooper said video from the scene will be used to spot the license plates of anyone who picked up money.

Christianity EtcRe: 7 Reasons Why Every Believer Should Speak In Tongues - Kenneth E Hagin by divinehand2003(op):
FreshestManny:
Bia OP. It's not a must one should speak in tongues. Do you think this gibberish people speak now is the real speaking in tongues? Hell no! Don't let anyone deceive you that speaking in tongues is a must; free yourself from this mental slavery and make REAL peace with your God. There are too many deceivers out there claiming to be 'men of God' but actually, they bank on your gullibility and make you do things that normally your brain would discern to be wrong. This same speaking in tongues topic reminds me of when I was in a bus sometime last year, a woman finished praying for the occupants and she suddenly said "if you know how to speak in tongues, begin to speak now..." then she began speaking her unintelligent gibberish. I was like WTF?!!! I just 'jejely' plugged in my ear buds to listen to my bada.ss jams let her keep deceiving herself with rubbish.
Now, let me show you a bible passage on this 'speaking in tongues' issue

[b]Acts 2 King James Version (KJV)

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
[/b]

Now, from the bolded, we can see that the REAL speaking in tongues occurs when the HOLY SPIRIT ACTUALLY falls on a person enabling the person to speak in a language that is not his MOTHER TONGUE. A language that someone can actually understand. For example, you didn't know how to speak German before then suddenly, under the power of the Holy Spirit, you are able to speak German and a German national will actually understand the German you speak. Look carefully at Acts 2:7-11. After y'all will say that we Catholics don't read the bible, that we are too traditional, when actually, you guys in search of 'sharp sharp' 'fast life' 'digital' ways of serving God & killing your conscience from sins you have committed, you take a passage of the bible, remove the 'sense' it was actually meant to give you, add your 'non' and turn it to NONSENSE!.

The word of God is true and cannot lie.
Whenever a believer is filled with the holy spirit, he/she speaks in other tongues.

Let's look at Acts 19:4-6. Apostle Paul was addressing some believers and look at the outcome.

Act 19:
4. Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
5. On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Speaking in other tongues is no scam. Tongues haven't been done away with yet. Speaking in tongues is still vital to all believers today. Don't miss out of the blessings of speaking in tongues my dear friend.

Christianity EtcHow Do We Get Faith? by divinehand2003(op): 7:01am On May 06, 2018
By Kenneth E Hagin

Central Truth: God has provided the way whereby everyone can have faith.
We read in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

We see from this that “without faith it is impossible to please him …” Therefore, if God demands that we have faith when it is impossible for us to have faith, then we have a right to challenge His justice. But if He places within our hands the means whereby faith can be produced, then the responsibility rests with us whether we have faith. God has told us that without faith it is impossible to please Him. But He has also told us how to get faith. If we don’t have faith, it is not God’s fault. To blame God for our lack of faith is nothing but ignorance. God has provided the way whereby everyone can have faith.

Faith for Salvation
The Apostle Paul said that we are saved by faith. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Eph.2: 8 ). But how do you get faith to be saved?

Romans 10:8-10, 13, 14, 17
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

After studying the passage of Scripture quoted above, what three steps does man take in order to receive salvation? (1. Confess, 2. Believe, 3. Accept) To whom is this salvation available, according to verse 13? (Whosoever) According to verse 17, where does faith come from? (By hearing the Word of God)

Acts 11:13, 14
13 And he shewed us how he (Cornelius) had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

God instructed Cornelius to send for Peter in order to learn the plan of salvation. In the Great Commission, recorded in Mark 16:15-18, Jesus told His disciples, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature …” As Cornelius had not as yet heard this glorious gospel, he was not saved. God told Cornelius to send for Peter in order to learn the plan of salvation. Why did Cornelius have to send for Peter? Why couldn’t the angel have explained the plan of salvation to Cornelius just as well? (Angels cannot preach the gospel. God has given this task to man.)

The verse, “Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved,” shows us that men are saved by hearing words. The reason for this is that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Faith for Healing
Acts 14:7-10
7 And there they (Paul and Barnabas) preached the gospel.
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked;
9 The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

A casual reader of the Word once said concerning this passage of Scripture, “Isn’t it wonderful how Paul healed that man?” However, Paul did not heal the man. The man was not healed because Paul was an apostle. He was not healed through Paul’s faith. The man himself had the faith.

Paul did three things:

1. He preached the gospel (verse 7).
2. He perceived that the man had faith to be healed (verse 9).
3. He told the man to stand up and walk (verse 10).

The man did three things:

1. He heard Paul preach (verse 9).
2. He had faith to be healed (verse 9).
3. He leaped and walked (verse 10).

The man was not healed by some power that Paul had. The man himself had faith to be healed.

Where did the man get the faith to be healed? (By hearing Paul speak [verse 9]). What did Paul speak? (He preached the gospel [verse 7]). Paul preached a gospel of salvation and a gospel of healing. “For I not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Rom. 1:16). A footnote in the Scofield Bible referring to this verse says, “The Greek and Hebrew word for salvation implies the ideas of deliverance, safety, healing, and soundness.” Therefore, Paul was saying, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. It is the power of God unto deliverance, safety, healing, and soundness.” Paul preached the full gospel, not just part of it.

Acts 8:5-8
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
The great miracles recorded in the above verses came about as the result of Philip’s preaching Christ. The New Testament knows no Christ without Christ the Healer. Physical healing is part of the gospel. If there is no gospel of healing today, then neither is there a gospel of salvation.

Faith in Action
P.C. Nelson, who was for many years a noted Baptist minister, said, “Healing is part and parcel of the gospel.” While he was pastoring a church in Detroit, Michigan, in 1921, he was run over by an automobile. The doctors said that his right leg would probably have to be taken off at the knee. Even if they didn’t have to take it off, it would be stiff. As he lay in his hospital bed the verses of scripture in James 5:14,15 came to him. “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

He tried to excuse himself to the Lord by saying that they didn’t practice this in his church. The Lord reminded him of a certain man and his wife who believed in it and told him to call them to come pray for him. He did so and they came, anointed him with oil, and prayed the prayer of faith. He was healed and his leg didn’t have to be removed, neither was his knee stiff. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Many years ago, as a young denominational boy I lay on the bed of affliction. As I lay there reading Grandma’s Bible, the more I read the more I learned. I soon realized that I had never heard the full gospel, but just part of it. The more I read the more I saw that I didn’t have to die. The more I studied the Word the more I realized that I could be healed.

The devil was right there, of course, bringing to my remembrance all the doubt and unbelief I had ever heard. He told me that healing had been done away with. (Fortunately, I couldn’t remember ever hearing that faith had been done away with.) Also, I had been taught that God would heal if He wanted to do so. This, however, was an even bigger insult than saying that He couldn’t.

I read in Mark 5:34 where Jesus spoke to the woman with the issue of blood, saying, “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” Jesus didn’t say that His power had made her whole. He said, “Daughter, thy faith …” When I saw this I knew then that if her faith had made her whole, my faith could make me whole. And, thank God, it did. My paralysis disappeared, my heart condition became normal, and I’ve been going at a hop, skip, and a jump ever since then, preaching the gospel in its fullness. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Memory Text: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Faith in Action: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only ….” (James 1:22).

Christianity Etc7 Reasons Why Every Believer Should Speak In Tongues - Kenneth E Hagin by divinehand2003(op): 6:36am On May 06, 2018
The Apostle Paul wrote and spoke much about the subject of speaking in other tongues, and he apparently practiced what he preached, for he said, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all” (1 Cor. 14:18).

The purpose of this particular article is to briefly set forth seven reasons why every Christian should speak in tongues and to help believers see the blessings that can be theirs through daily appropriating the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Reason Number One
The Word of God teaches that when we are filled with the Holy Ghost, we speak with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. Speaking in tongues is an initial evidence, or sign, of the baptism of the Holy Spirit: “And they were all FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, and began to SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4).

Reason Number Two
Paul encouraged the Corinthian Christians to continue the practice of speaking with other tongues in their worship of God. He also encouraged them to speak in tongues in their individual prayer life as a means of spiritual edification, or building up. The Bible says, “He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself . . .” (1 Cor. 14:4).

Paul also stated in First Corinthians 14:14, “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, MY SPIRIT PRAYETH, but my understanding is unfruitful.” Notice he said, “My spirit prays.”

The Amplified Bible reads, “My spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me] prays . . . .” God is a Spirit. When you pray in tongues, your spirit is in direct contact with God, who is a Spirit. When you speak in tongues, you are talking to Him by divine, supernatural means.

Reason Number Three
A third reason people should speak with other tongues is that speaking with tongues keeps us continually aware of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling Presence. Not only is speaking with tongues the initial sign or evidence of the Holy Spirit’s infilling, but continuing to pray and to worship God in tongues helps us to be ever-conscious of His indwelling Presence. And if you are conscious of the indwelling Presence of the Holy Ghost every day, that is bound to affect the way you think and live.

Reason Number Four
Speaking in tongues eliminates the possibility of selfishness entering our prayer life. For instance, if I pray a prayer out of my own mind and out of my own thinking, it may be unscriptural. It may be selfish.

Paul wrote to the Church at Rome, “We know not what we should pray for as we ought. . .” (Rom. 8:26). He didn’t say we didn’t know how to pray, because we are instructed to pray to the Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 16:23–24).

But just because I know how to pray doesn’t mean that I know what to pray for as I ought. So Paul said, “We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself [Himself] makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Rom. 8:26).

The Holy Ghost is not going to do our praying for us. He is sent to help us pray. Speaking with other tongues is praying as the Spirit gives utterance. It is Spirit-directed praying. And it eliminates the possibility of selfishness in our prayers.

Reason Number Five
A fifth reason believers should speak with tongues is that it helps them learn to trust God more fully. It builds one’s faith to speak in tongues. The Bible says, “Building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 20).

Speaking in tongues stimulates faith and helps us learn how to trust God more fully. For example, faith must be exercised to speak with tongues because the Holy Spirit supernaturally directs the words we speak. You see, we don’t know what the next word will be—we have to trust God for that. And trusting God in one area helps us learn to trust Him in another area.

Reason Number Six
A sixth reason every believer should speak in tongues is that it provides a way for you to pray about things that you wouldn’t think to pray about or aren’t even aware of. We already know that the Holy Spirit helps us pray for particular situations when we don’t know how to pray about those situations. In addition, the Holy Spirit, Who knows everything, can pray things through us for things about which our natural mind knows nothing.

Reason Number Seven
A seventh reason why every believer should speak with tongues is found in James 3:8. “But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison,” Yielding your tongue to the Holy Spirit to speak with other tongues is a big step toward being able to fully yield all of your members to God; for if you can yield your tongue, you can yield any member of your body to God.

Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. God has given us this wonderful spiritual gift to bless us, edify us, and refresh us throughout our lives on this earth. Let’s receive what God has provided and enjoy the benefits of speaking in tongues!

Politics2019: Northern Youths Plan Mock Presidential Election For Buhari, Atiku, Others. by divinehand2003(op): 7:03am On May 04, 2018
- The leaders of the the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement will hold a mock election for presidential candidates from the North

- Buhari, Atiku, Kwankwaso, Makarfi, Lamido, Dankwambo and Tambuwal are listed as participants in the upcoming polls

- The mock election would last for 60 days, and its aim is to feel the pulse of the youth from the North and eventually decide on a most prospective candidate

Mock elections would be held for all the presidential aspirants from the North including President Muhammadu Buhari, leaders of the the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement (ACYM) announced on Thursday, May 3.

The development was made public by the ACYM president, Comrade Kabiru Yusuf, as he delivered his acceptance speech. Yusuf said the poll would be conducted in order to get a presidential candidate that shared the same vision with the youths, Daily Trust reports.

NAIJ.com notes that other presidential aspirants listed are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state; Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state; former Governor of Kaduna state, ‎Senator Ahmed Makarfi; former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; and former Governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido.

Yusuf stated: “Several politicians and aspirants from the North have indicated interest in the forth-coming 2019 presidential election. We shall, in due course, conduct a mock election with a view to feeling the pulse of the youth from the North and eventually deciding on a most prospective candidate.

“The mock election will soon commence on our website and will last for ‎a period of 60 days before the announcement of results. I enjoin all of us to think critically about this before we make our choice and also mobilise for him.

“There cannot be a better chance for us to contribute to give Nigeria the kind of leadership it deserves in this 21st century. The abject poverty and insecurity ‎in the North must be tackled head-on, and it is our responsibility.”

In a related development, NAIJ.com previously reported that Senator Ahmed Makarfi, former chairman, national caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was urged to run for the presidency in 2019, by the Arewa Concerned Youths and Development (ACYD.

The chairman of the group, Ibrahim Suleiman, who addressed a news conference comprising representatives from the 19 northern states and the Federeal Capital Territory, stated that they had agreed unanimously, to back Makarfi for the nations’ top political office.

The conference was convened to highlight Makarfi’s various strides in the political field.

PoliticsAPC, PDP Can’t Take Nigeria To Promised Land – Shehu Sani by divinehand2003(op): 6:56am On May 04, 2018
The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Shehu Sani, says there is a need for the emergence of a new political party, peopled mainly by the intellectuals, the working class and the youths, which will take Nigeria to the Promised Land.

This, according to him, had become the only option for the country because none of the existing major political parties in the country could do the job.

Sani, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, said the integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari, around which the APC built its government, was not enough to govern a plural country like Nigeria.

According to him, integrity is just a small fraction of what is needed to lead a country like Nigeria, stressing also that “fighting corruption cannot be the only objective or the idea and only focus of a government.”

Sani was one of the guest speakers at a symposium organised on Thursday by the Magodo Associates.

The symposium with the theme, “Nigeria: Which way forward?” held at the Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos and had Prof. Akin Oyebode as the chairman.

Others speakers at the event were a chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition, Dr. Amos Akingba, Lagos-based preacher, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was represented by Mr. Femi Lawson; Maj. Gen. Ishola Williams (retd.), Secretary of the Magodo Associates, Dr. Babafemi Badejo, and Mrs. Ada Agina-Ude.

The chairman of the Magodo Associates, Prof. Funso Akere, in his welcome remarks, explained that the symposium was aimed at “heightening the debate about the future of Nigeria.”

He said the speakers, who are people that had experienced the good and the ills of the country, were selected in order to give the young people insight into the country’s past and how to approach the future.

Speaking, Sani said while Buhari demonstrated his integrity by declaring his assets, many of the people in his government could not do the same.

“What we have here is one man whose major asset is integrity but how many within that camp can also beat their chests and say they are as credible as he is?

“We are talking about building a nation and moving it forward, but can just the integrity of the President move the nation to the Promised Land? When we are talking about the qualities of leadership, if only integrity and credibility is what you need to be in public office… integrity or credibility is just one of so many things a leader needs, especially in a troublesome country like Nigeria; there as lot of things a leader needs. We need a leader that can give every person the confidence that he is going to be fair and just. We also need a leader who is visionary, who can move the country from where it is to where it should be,” Sani said.

He charged the people in the academia not be afraid of participating in politics, saying it was the only way forward.

He said, “The intellectuals need to move forward; you need not be scared of the political terrain. Most people you see in political offices, outside they say they are representing the people, but they represent an individual, a certain power broker. The existing dominant political parties cannot lead us to the Promised Land; there is a need for a progressive political class to come together, reach out to the academics, the intelligentsia, the working class, come out together with a party that is run on a certain ideology.”

In his contribution, Akingba said the colonialists were to blame for the country’s stunted development, because, according to him, at independence, they handed over the country to the Fulani, who were least interested in development.

“The Fulani were the ones the British gave Nigeria to as an estate. From independence, they rigged the election in favour of the caliphate. They gave it to the one who does not want modernisation or modernity. In fact, when we were going too fast for them, they invented Boko Haram. For as long as all this continue to happen, so long will there be retrogression,” Akingba said.

According to Akingba, the delay by President Buhari to form his cabinet after he was sworn in in 2015 was part of the script to slow Nigeria down.

“They said Buhari was a bit late in forming his cabinet; he’s happy. Why should he rush?” Akingba said, declaring that, “Our incompetence are in charge (sic).”

Williams, on his own part, blamed the citizens for electing the wrong set of people to lead them.

“Idiots do not choose wise people to lead them. Something is wrong with followership in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, America is more corrupt than Nigeria but unlike in Nigeria, there is no impunity in America.

Speaking through Lawson, Bakare faulted Buhari’s stance that what the country should focus on was the process of governance and not to restructure the nation.

Bakare insisted that the country’s political structure was faulty, stressing that a bad structure could not support anything good.

He criticised the discordant tunes being sung by President Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on the call for the creation of state police. He noted that while Osinbajo had declared that Nigeria needed state police, Buhari, this week, said there was no need for it.

PoliticsSorry, My State Can’t Pay You N66,500 - Governor Abubakar Warns Civil Servants by divinehand2003(op): 8:04am On May 02, 2018
- Governor Mohammed Abubakar says his state, Bauchi, cannot pay the proposed minimum wage of N66,500

- Abubakar wants the labour unions to prevail on the federal government to increase allocation to states

- He argues that Bauchi makes very little as internally-generated revenue

The governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar, on Tuesday, May 1, told civil servants that the state does not have the power and will to pay the proposed new monthly minimum wage of N66, 500 to its workers.

The Nation reports that the governor was, however, quick to add that the state can only change this stand if the federal allocation to state increases, as demanded by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on behalf of the state workers.

Speaking at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, where workers gathered to mark the 2018 May Day, the governor said the state generates little revenue.

“Unless there is an upward review of the monthly allocation from the federal government, Bauchi State cannot meet the demand for an increase of salary of workers.

“In everything we do, let us face reality, the salary bill of Bauchi state currently is about N5.2 billion for Local government, teachers and civil servants and it is growing.

“We go to Abuja, we get at most N8 billion monthly and, by the time we take N5.2 billion salary, not much is left to take care of other things like feeding of school children, pumping of water, payment of power supplied, construction of roads, the running of hospitals, and others.

“If you think the resources of Bauchi state government will be able to pay N66,500 per month, so be it.

“If you take your calculator and you do the calculations and you think the resources of Bauchi state government cannot pay this minimum wage, then we need your help.

“If it is health, it is state and local government agriculture; it is state and local government. So for God’s sake, the time has come for you to start agitating for a review of revenue allocation to the state that is the only way that states can be able to pay this minimum wage.

“Please, workers of Bauchi state, assist us agitate for a review of the revenue allocation,” he said.

He urged the labour unions to correct the wrong figure of pensioners in the state as he claimed that at least one civil servant retires daily from the service thereby increasing the number of pensioners.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the NLC in the state, Hashimu Gital, said: “Civil servants in the state have being enjoying cordial relationship with the government.”

The governor said the exercise covered promotions from 2015 to 2017 and that they will be paid all the entitlements.

PoliticsJubilation In Ekiti As Fayose Promotes 37,152 Civil Servants To Mark Workers Day by divinehand2003(op): 7:21am On May 02, 2018
- Governor Fayose announced the promotion during the May Day celebration in Ekiti

- Fayose said the beneficiaries also included teachers, health workers and local government workers

- The labour unions in the state commended him for his people-friendly policies

The governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday, May 1, announced the promotion of 37, 152 workers in the civil service of the state during the celebration of the annual Workers’ Day popularly known as the May Day in Ado-Ekiti.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the governor said the exercise covered promotions from 2015 to 2017 and that they will be paid all the entitlements.

According to him, teachers, local government workers, health workers and others were included.

The report quoted a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Idowu Adelusi, as saying Fayose confirmed that he stood by his earlier promise not to owe workers’ salaries by the time he would be leaving office come October.

“I appreciate the support that I have enjoyed from workers, even when the battle was fierce. I will never forget your role in bringing me back to office, particularly the teachers.

“My legacy was already rubbished when I left office but God and you made me come back.

“You made me a man of history in our state. I had no trade name, a family name that is recognised, but with your support, I was able to defeat two incumbents and become the first Ekiti person to be elected governor twice,” he said.

Concerning the harsh economic situation being faced by state and local governments, Fayose said the blame should go to the federal government’s handling of funds accruing to the national purse.

“Without doing that, states may continue to find it difficult to meet their expectations.

“For instance, this year’s benchmark for the federal budget is $42 but oil now goes for over $70 per barrel and instead of paying all the revenues to the federation account, the FG still operates an Excess Crude Oil Account contrary to the judgment of the Supreme Court and they spend such funds without recourse to appropriate authorities,” he said.

The chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Comrade Ade Adesanmi, commended Fayose for his love for workers and the manner he handled the farmers/herdsmen issue.

Adesanmi also commended the governor for embarking on legacy projects despite the parlous state of the national economy.

On his part, Comrade Odunayo Adesoye of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), praised Fayose for his people-friendly policies.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, April 30, extended good wishes and greetings to all Nigerian workers on this year’s May Day celebration.

The party in a statement by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, described Nigerian workers as key drivers of development despite the challenges they face.

PoliticsLooters List Allegedly Puts Dokpesi In Trouble, US Visa Reportedly Revoked by divinehand2003(op): 7:15am On May 02, 2018
- Raymond Dokpesi says he was written by the US embassy telling him his visa had been revoked

- He says the embassy told him the action was because his name appeared on the looters list

- He is suing Lai Mohammed for defamation of character

A top member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Raymond Dokpesi, has reportedly had his United States visa revoked because his name is on the looters list released by the federal government, the media mogul has said.

Dokpesi, the founder of Daar Communication which has two radio stations and the African Independent Television, has sued Lai Mohammed, the nation’s information minister, who announced the list recently.

He is now seeking payment of N5billion damages.

It was learnt that no date has been fixed for hearing of the suit filed on Monday, April 30, before the high court of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Nation reports that Dokpesi said the defendants allegedly sent his name as a looter to the United States Embassy, which in turn notified him on March 16 that his visa had been revoked.

According to him, the US Embassy said it was because his name was among a looters list submitted to it by the federal government arguing that the publication of his name as a looter was malicious since he has not been convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction.

The politician wants a retraction and apology to him to be published both in the social media and in newspapers and televisions stations.

He also wants an order compelling the defendants, including Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), to publish a full retraction of the defamatory publications and to apologise to him.

The report said a suit by his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), showed Dokpesi also praying for a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants or their agents from further making any defamatory publications against him, and N50million as cost of the action.

The argument is that the publications have prejudiced his constitutionally guaranteed rights to presumption of innocence until proven guilty as well as his right to fair hearing as enshrined in the constitution.

“The defendants’ defamatory publications are malicious and calculated to overreach and prejudice my fair trial and for purposes of stampeding and cowing the court to convict me at all cost by agreeing with the defendants’ skewed position,” the plaintiff said.

Christianity EtcYou Can Have What You Say – Kenneth E. Hagin by divinehand2003(op): 6:42am On Apr 29, 2018
Central Truth: It was not the giants in the land of Canaan that kept the Israelites out, but the giants of fear in their hearts.
Our text for this lesson, Mark 11:23 which is quoted below, is one that we have used many times in our series of studies on faith, for in it we see the faith formula for moving whatever mountains may be present in our lives. Whether your particular mountain may be sickness, unsaved loved ones, financial difficulties, or family problems, you can find the solution in this verse of scripture. This particular verse is especially meaningful to me as its truths, shed abroad in my heart as a bed-ridden boy of sixteen, brought to me divine healing and set my feet on the pathway to a deeper faith in God.

The last phrase of our text says, “… he shall have whatsoever he saith.” In other words, you can have whatever you say you can have. What you say is your faith speaking. This works in a negative way just as it does in a positive way. We see an example of this in the Old Testament story of the twelve spies who were sent into Canaan to spy out the land.

A Report of Fear
Numbers 13:17, 18, 25, 27, 28, 30-32

17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18 And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

Of the twelve spies who went into Canaan to search out the land, only two, Caleb and Joshua, were men of faith and vision who said, “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” The other ten came back with a negative, fearful report of giants in the land. The Bible called their report an “evil report.” Why? It was a report of doubt and fear. What then is a good report? (A report of faith).

The ten fearful spies were in the majority, and the children of Israel accepted the majority report. When they did this they were saying that they couldn’t take the land. And they got exactly what they said. These spies and the rest of that generation of Israelites, with the exception of Joshua and Caleb, never saw the Promised Land. They believed that they couldn’t take it and they didn’t. They wandered in the wilderness until they died. What they said came to pass.

Theirs was an example of faith in reverse. After all, even when you doubt, you are believing something. You are believing in defeat. You are believing the wrong thing. You always get in your life what you believe for and what you say. If you don’t believe what you are saying, then you shouldn’t say it, for it you keep saying something long enough those words will eventually register on your spirit. And once they are registered upon your spirit, they will control your life.

A Report of Faith

Numbers 14:6-9

6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephuneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

Notice the good report of Joshua and Caleb. Their trust was in the Lord and their hearts were filled with faith that God was able to bring them into the land that He had promised to their forefathers. Twice in verse 9 they admonished the people not to fear. And what was the result of their report of faith? (They were the only two men of their generation to enter the Promised Land.) You can have whatever you say.

Many people come to me and ask me why they can’t get healed. I always smile and tell them that they have already said they can’t. Their words give them away. You can locate people by what they say.

Before praying for people, I usually try to get them to make some kind of a confession of their faith. I ask them if they will be healed when I lay hands on them and pray. If they answer that they hope they will, I tell them that they won’t, because they are in hope and not faith. Those who have a quick confession full of faith receive almost instantly. Others make a confession with some hesitancy, but that hesitancy is what defeats them. It is the little foxes that spoil the vine.

It is not something big that keeps God’s children from being healed. It wasn’t the giants of the land of Canaan that kept the children of Israel out. It wasn’t the giants that defeated them. If it had been the giants, they would have defeated Joshua and Caleb also. The people defeated themselves by their own thinking, their own unbelief, their own declaration of non-faith.

It is not the giants in life that defeat you. It is not the storms of life that defeat you. If you are defeated, it is because you have defeated yourself. You have defeated yourself by wrong thinking and wrong believing. You have defeated yourself by wrong speaking. You can have what you say.

Caleb and Joshua said that they were able to overcome the giants. After forty years of wandering in the wilderness, and all the people of that generation who had accepted the evil report of the ten spies had died, Joshua became the people’s leader, and he and Caleb led them to victory. When Caleb came to Joshua and said, “Give me this mountain,” Joshua looked back several years and realized that their talking right had won them victory before. He wanted to locate Caleb, so he asked him if he was able to take the mountain. Joshua wanted to hear his confession of faith. He told Caleb that there were giants in the mountain. But Caleb, full of faith, said that he was well able to take it. And he did.

Many things happen because we expect them to happen a certain way. They happen because we believe it and talk it until it comes to pass. I have found this true in my own experience. Some time ago I read about a scientist who said that when one gets older his brain isn’t as soft as it was when he was younger. It gradually keeps hardening. I reached the place where I couldn’t remember things as well as I once did. I went along this way for a while until I realized that there wasn’t any need for this. The mind is part of my inward being and spirit, and it never grows old. The very moment I started believing right and talking right, I could quote all the scripture I had ever known, and my memory actually got better.

We fail sometimes because we gel ready to fail. We prepare for failure. We think and believe it, and then we do it. As believers, however, we have no business talking failure or doubt. We should talk faith.

Memory Text: “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23)
Faith in Action: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only ….” (James 1:22)

SportsLiverpool Superstar Mohamed Salah Gifts His Hometown In Egypt An Important Gift by divinehand2003(op): 4:23pm On Apr 28, 2018
- Mohamed Salah has been on fire for his Premier League side this season with 31 league goals from 33 matches

- The Liverpool forward gave £300,000 of his wages to buy a plot of land where good water system will be built

- He joined the Reds from AS Roma last summer after spending just one and a half season at the club

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has donated a sum of £330,000 to set up sewage works to improve lives in his Egyptian birthplace Nagrig.

The Egyptian forward joined the Reds in the summer of 2013 from AS Roma in a £35 million deal for a period of five seasons.

Having spent just one season at Anfield, the 25-year-old has scored 43 goals in 6 games in all competitions, and he has his PFA player of the season award to show for his performance.

Earlier in the year, he was crowned the best player on the African continent after inspiring his national team to make a return to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1990.

According to The Sun, the former Chelsea striker spent the money to buy a plot of land that will be used for the water treatment plant.

Meanwhile, the donation which amounts to eight million Egyptian pounds is seen as a fortune in the poverty-hit region.

While reacting to the gesture by the Liverpool forward, Nagrig mayor, Maher Shtayeh said Salah gave the money due to the love he has for his hometown. "Mohamed loves his village a lot. He enjoys coming back."

However, if his Premier League side qualify for the final of the UEFA Champions League tourney, the Egypt international faces a religious dilemma

Salah is a practising Muslim and the Islamic festival of Ramadan, which requires fasting during daylight hours for a month, begins on May 15 — ten days before the Kiev showdown.

The forward, who has dedicated lanterns created in his image, must decide whether to risk his physical condition or fail to observe "sawm" (fasting during Ramadan), one of the five pillars of Islam, for the sake of football.

He has scored 11 goals in 13 European matches this season with his Premier League goal tally standing at 31 goals in 33fixtures.

Salah inspired the Egyptian national team to qualify for this summer FIFA World in Russia after missing out of the past editions since 1990.
