The International Police have yet to declare Senator Dino Melaye wanted, 72 hours after the Nigeria Police Force claimed that the lawmaker and seven other suspects were now on the red notice of the global police organisation. The profiles and pictures of the lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District and the other suspects were conspicuously missing on the Interpol website when our correspondent visited the wanted persons’ section on Friday. Out of the 113 wanted persons featured on the platform, only one fugitive, Festus Chinedu, 32, is a Nigerian. He is wanted by the Uruguayan authorities for drugs trafficking and participating in a criminal organisation. It was gathered that the NPF most likely had not made a formal request to the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Nigeria domiciled at the Force headquarters, Abuja, to declare Melaye and the other fleeing suspects wanted, contrary to the statement by the erstwhile Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga. Janga was fired by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, following the escape of six suspects from custody on Wednesday. The suspects — Kabiru Seidu, aka Osama; Nuhu Salisu, aka Small; Aliyu Isa; Adams Suleiman; Emmanuel Audu; and Musa Mohammed, reportedly escaped on Wednesday morning despite being guarded by 13 policemen at the ‘A’ Division, Lokoja, where the incident occurred. The police had alleged that Melaye contracted Seidu and his gang as political thugs, adding that the lawmaker met with the suspects on Airport Road, Abuja inside the senator’s car in December 2017. Seidu was said to have confessed to the police investigative team that Melaye handed over a bag containing an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns and N430, 000.00 to share with his boys. Shortly before he was removed, the Kogi CP had in a statement declared the fugitives wanted, including Melaye and Mohammed Audu, noting that they were now on the red notice of the Interpol. “Consequently, all the six suspects, Senator Dino Melaye and Mohammed Audu were sent for watch list and red notice by the Interpol for immediate arrest anywhere we see them,” the CP stated. The police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, could not be reached for comment on efforts to apprehend Melaye and his accomplices, as he did not respond to calls to his phone. He had yet to respond to an SMS seeking his comment on the issue as of the time of filing this report. http://punchng.com/interpol-yet-to-declare-melaye-wanted-lawmakers-profile-missing-on-website/ |
The pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere; a Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed; and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, among others, came down heavily on the Federal Government over the release of a looters’ list containing just six names. They described the list as laughable while accusing the government and the All Progressives Congress of spreading propaganda and lies. The Federal Government on Friday made good its promise to release to Nigerians the list containing names of alleged treasury looters. The list which was released by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Lagos, on Friday, identified the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus; former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh; and the Chairman of DAAR Communications, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, as some of the people who looted the treasury. Also on the list were the names of Dudafa Waripamo-Owei, a former Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan; a cousin of former President Jonathan, Robert Azibaola; and an unnamed former PDP Financial Secretary. In July 2017, the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), said the Federal Government would publish the names of treasury looters intermittently after it must have met some conditions. This was after a Federal High Court in Lagos gave a ruling compelling the Federal Government to “immediately release to Nigerians information about the names of high-ranking public officials from whom public funds were recovered and the circumstances under which funds were recovered, as well as the exact amount of funds recovered from each public official.” The Federal Government, through The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had on June 4, 2016, disclosed that it had recovered cash sums of N78,325,354,631.82, $185,119,584.61, £3,508,355.46 and €11,250, among others, between May 29, 2015, and May 25, 2016. Twenty-two months after, the information minister released a list with six names. The information minister said, “The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology to Nigerians. “Let’s just give them a teaser with this list: PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus, (on the 19th of February, 2015, he took N200m only from the office of the then National Security Adviser); the then PDP Financial Secretary (on the 24th of October, 2014, he took N600m only from the office of the then NSA); the then National Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh, (on trial for collecting N1.4bn from the office of the then NSA. “Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications, (on trial for taking N2.1bn from the office of the then NSA); former SSA to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dudafa Waripamo-Owei, (on trial over N830m kept in accounts of four different companies); former President Jonathan’s cousin, Robert Azibaola, (on Thursday, a Federal High Court ruled that he has a case to answer for collecting $40m from the office of the then NSA.)” Mohammed, who stated that the list was just a tip of the iceberg, said, “We did not make these cases up. Many of these cases are in court and the records are available. Some of the people on this list are seeking plea bargain, and that is a fact. “We insist that Nigeria was looted blind under the watch of the PDP, and that the starting point in tendering an apology is for them to return the loot." http://punchng.com/looters-list-afenifere-junaid-others-slam-fg/ |

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRIST’S RESURRECTION Each spring, millions of people around the world acknowledge, in some fashion or another, that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead some twenty centuries ago. Modern society calls it “Easter.” The origin of this term is uncertain, though it is commonly thought to derive from Eastre, the name of a Teutonic spring goddess. The term “Easter,” in the King James Version of the Bible (Acts 12:4), is a mistranslation. The Greek word is pascha, correctly rendered “Passover” in later translations. In fact, though pascha is found twenty-nine times in the Greek New Testament, it is only rendered “Easter” once, even in the KJV. Christians are not authorized to celebrate Easter as a special annual event acknowledging the resurrection of Christ. Faithful children of God reflect upon the Savior’s resurrection every Sunday (the resurrection day – cf. John 20:1ff) as they gather to worship God in the regular assembly of the church (cf. Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). We ought to be glad, however, that multitudes—usually caught up in pursuits wholly materialistic—will take at least some time for reflection upon the event of the Savior’s resurrection. It is entirely appropriate that Christians take advantage of this circumstance; we should be both willing and able to explain to our friends—at least those who have some reverence for Christianity—the significance of the Lord’s resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the foundation of the Christian system (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:14ff). If there was no resurrection, Christianity is a hoax, and we are wasting our time. But the truth is, the event of Jesus’ resurrection is incontrovertible. Professor Thomas Arnold of Rugby, a world-renowned historian, once said that Christ’s resurrection from the dead is the “best-attested fact in human history” (1939, 2569). This being the case, just what is the significance of Jesus’ resurrection? Think about these matters. First, the resurrection is one of the major evidences that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Paul affirmed that Christ is “declared to be the Son of God with power . . . by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4). Second, Jesus’ resurrection represents an assurance that we can have forgiveness from our sins. Paul contended: “[I]f Christ hath not been raised, our faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). The reverse of the apostle’s affirmation would be this: if Jesus was raised, sins will be forgiven when we obey the gospel (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Third, the resurrection tells the world that the kingdom of God is ruled by a living sovereign. The founder of Islam is dead and his bones lie dormant in the earth. But the founder of Christianity—sixty years after his death—appeared to John on the island of Patmos and said: “I am the first and the last, and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore” (Revelation 1:17-18). Fourth, Jesus’ resurrection proves that physical death is not the termination of human existence. God, who is the giver of life (1 Timothy 6:13), has the power to reanimate the human body. Christ’s triumph over the grave is Heaven’s pledge to us that we too shall be raised. This is why Jesus is referred to as the “firstfruits of them that are asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20,23). Fifth, the Lord’s resurrection previewed the ultimate victory of Christianity over all its enemies. In the book of Revelation, Jesus is depicted as a lamb that had been slain, but was standing again (5:6). This same Lord was “the lion of the tribe of Judah” that had overcome his foes (5:5). Christians too will overcome as a result of the Lamb’s sacrifice and victory over death (cf. Revelation 12:11). The resurrection of the Son of God should be a constant reminder to us of these wonderful biblical truths. We honor our Master’s victory over death—not once a year, but every week! After the so called "rescuing Nigeria from PDP" in 2015, now APC wants to rescue Nigeria from APC come 2019. Kai, politicians nor go kill person oooooooo. Lol. |
I wonder who Buhari and Tinubu wants to rescue Nigeria from come 2019. |
Hmmmm After going through 2015, 2016, 2017 and part of 2018 with APC at the helm of affairs, I have come to a reasoned conclusion that the party was never prepared for leadership at all. Even if Nigerians give Tinubu and Buhari's APC another 20 years to rule, we will never see any meaningful growth and sustainable development, rather we shall experience more lies, nepotism, tribalism, ethnic bigotry, herdsmen killings, terrorism, corruption, economic stagnation, poverty and severe hunger in the land. Having ruled for 3 years, I have come to realise that APC and PDP are exactly the same. They are hopeless parties with no good agenda for the Nigerian people. APC rescue mission come 2019 was borrowed from Rochas Okorocha rescue mission in Imo State. I strongly believe that come 2019, the rescue mission proposed by the APC will entail erecting worthless statues all over the country with billions of naira. Rescue mission kor, mission rescue ni. |

What types of prayer are mentioned in the Bible? Rather than a single type of prayer or even a list of specific prayers, the Bible notes a variety of ways people pray to God. Because prayer is talking with God, it can occur at any time and place, involve a variety of forms, continue as a conversation with God throughout the day, and can also include times of public prayer among believers. Prayer of Thanksgiving: One specific type of prayer mentioned in the Bible is a prayer of thanksgiving. The Psalms are filled with these types of prayers. Philippians 4:6 in the New Testament also notes, "with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Prayer of Worship: A second type of prayer is a prayer of worship. In addition to thanking God, we recognize Him for who He is. In Acts 13:2-3 we read about prayer, worship, and fasting in the same context, leading to the powerful calling of Saul (Paul) and Barnabas beginning their mission work: "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off." Prayer of Intercession: A third type of prayer is intercession. In these prayers, we ask God for needs regarding our own life or the lives of others (1 Timothy 2:1). In John 17 Jesus prayed a prayer of intercession on behalf of His disciples and all believers. Prayer of Faith: A fourth type of prayer is the prayer of faith. In James 5:15 we read, "And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." Prayers of faith are given for healing. This does not negate the important role of medical professionals, but encourages believers to turn to God for help during times of physical need. Corporate prayer: A fifth type of prayer is corporate prayer. The early church "all joined together constantly in prayer" (Acts 1:14 NIV) and was devoted to prayer together (Acts 2:42). While praying alone is an important part of Christian growth, praying together serves a unique role that combines the power of prayer with community among believers. Prayer of Consecration: A sixth type of prayer can be called a prayer of consecration. Jesus is our example in this area. On the night before His death, He prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will" (Matthew 26:39). These and others types of prayer all acknowledge our complete dependence upon the Lord's help for our daily needs. The Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 offers a model prayer we can also use in praising and making our requests known to God. https://www.compellingtruth.org/types-of-prayer.html |
