If you are not already self-employed and intend to seek employment after completing your studies, I strongly urge you by whatever you hold sacred not to purchase that HND form.

Instead, consider better alternatives. Purchase a Direct Entry form or start afresh by obtaining a UTME form to enroll in a conventional university. Another viable option is to approach an Open University study center near you and explore the opportunities they offer. These pathways will ultimately lead to a university degree. Do not let the duration or cost deter you, these are investments in your future. Avoid the HND form at all costs.

Do not be misled by those who claim that you can "prove your worth on the field." The harsh reality is that many Nigerian employers, including the government, place an overwhelming emphasis on certificates, often denying HND holders a fair chance to showcase their abilities. This bias shows no signs of abating anytime soon.

For example, the Ogun State government recently began selling ASCON forms for civil service employment, explicitly barring HND holders from participating. Even if you manage to secure a civil service job through other channels, there is a ceiling to how far you can advance due to your HND background. Why subject yourself to such limitations and indignities?

If you're considering pursuing postgraduate studies such as a PGD, Master’s, or PhD later, be warned: the barriers persist. Some universities restrict HND holders from progressing beyond a Master’s degree. For instance, LASU specifically states that MED holders with HND and PGDE qualifications are ineligible to apply for a PhD. The systemic discrimination is pervasive, and you are unlikely to find it acceptable later in your career.

It is puzzling why the government and education authorities have not addressed this issue by either scrapping polytechnics or ceasing the issuance of HND certificates altogether. Allowing institutions to produce graduates who are systematically undervalued in society is a disservice to students.

Do not be swayed by the fact that HND holders are referred to as graduates or participate in the NYSC scheme. That fleeting recognition often ends with NYSC. If you doubt this, try applying for a master’s program with an HND after your NYSC. The barriers and bias are undeniable and frustrating.

While it’s true that some HND holders have excelled in their fields, they are a small minority compared to the many who face relentless discrimination in both public and private sectors. Why endure such struggles after spending five years on an HND program (2 years for ND, 1 year for IT, and 2 years for HND)?

Education is invaluable, but in Nigeria's context, the HND certificate is currently one of the most marginalized qualifications.

If you lack your own business and plan to seek employment, avoid the HND route. Consider this my earnest advice.

Today has been incredibly overwhelming. My mum called to let me know that my dad nearly slumped from exhaustion and overwork. I’m still in this deep shit!! The person that sent money to my account his account has been unfrozen by his bank but yet my own account remain frozen I contacted my bank and they told me the sender bank need to reach out to them but my sender said his bank said they were not the one who reported the transaction they said it was done by NIBSS because it was a case of charge back to the sender’s account so his bank said they will not reach out to my bank and my bank is insisting if the sender bank doesn’t reach out to them they will not unfreeze my account I don’t even know what to do at this point this is affecting my health already since I can’t even sleep at night…who know what I can do from here ?? I waited this long for the sender to solve his issue with his bank now that he got his account back my own is still under restriction

Contact your bank and ask them to clarify in writing why your account remains restricted. Insist on written communication stating the exact reason for the freeze and what specific steps need to be taken to unfreeze it.
Ask the person you traded with to get an official letter from his bank, confirming that they were not responsible for reporting the transaction as fraudulent. This letter might help your case when dealing with your bank.
Since NIBSS is reportedly involved due to the chargeback, you might need to directly contact NIBSS or ask your bank how you can approach them to get further clarity on the situation. This will help you understand if NIBSS flagged the transaction, and you can possibly escalate the issue to resolve it.
If things remain unresolved and your account stays frozen, you may want to consult a lawyer who specializes in financial or banking law. They could guide you on what legal steps you can take to unfreeze your account, as this is now affecting your livelihood and health.
If you don't get a resolution soon, consider filing a formal complaint with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). They have processes for customers who believe they have been unfairly treated by their banks. Include all documentation in your complaint.
Please, take care of your health during this time. It's understandable that the stress is overwhelming, but prioritize rest when you can, and don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or even a counselor to help manage the stress.

At about 9am this morning I received a call from this number 08068941992 informing me of a training in one of the WhatsApp group which I belong to. The caller then told me to hang on for a while to receive a confirmation code for the training. I received the code 737-685 and sent it back to him, he thanked me and promised to call me by 5pm to remind me of the training.

Few minutes later I tried to login to WhatsApp without success. I deleted the app and downloaded a new one but I can't login with my number. That's when it dawned on me that my WhatsApp has been hacked. I have contacted support center but they are of no help.

I went and reported to Police and made a statement.

PLEASE my people, what can I do to prevent them from using my Identity to commit crime.
