Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has caused reactions from Nigerians on social media over his campaign policy document ‘The Atiku Plan.’ https://i0.wp.com/dkmngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/atiku.png?w=610&ssl=1 On Monday, Atiku revealed his plan for Nigerians in 2019and narrated a story of how he started selling firewood as an orphan in Adamawa before he got rich. He quoted his statement by saying: “I started out as an orphan selling firewood on the streets of Jada in Adamawa, but God, through the Nigerian state, invested in me and here I am today. If Nigeria worked for me, I owe it as my duty to make sure that Nigeria also works for you.” But, his above statement received backslash from some Nigerians on social media as they compared his story to that of former President Goodluck Jonathan who said he had no shoes while campaigning. Some Nigerians advised the Atiku to desist from such stories as Nigerians would not fall for such sympathetic stories in voting for the next president. Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter: @Ugochijanetrump: “Goodluck told us in 2011 he was not born rich and that he had no shoes and school bags. By 2015, GEJ had bought many bags to pack our money. In 2017, Peter Obi said he own only one wristwatch & he doesn’t own any house outside Nigeria. Now, today is for Atiku as firewood seller.” @Chijev “It’s actually not a good line to start. Nigerians no longer trust those gimmicks. I’ll recommend concentrating on issue based agenda and not some not-so- convincing poverty root.” @diran_mendy106 “BURSTED!!! The last president that was shoeless and sell fish, nosedived the economy into recession,we don’t need firewood seller to plunge us into depression.Nigerians are now wise.” @Abuusamayusuf “This is the kind of story Jonathan told us in is quest to be our president.I don’t know think this kind of sympathetic stories can sell any more.” @Vexless “Whether as an orphan or you had no shoes, its not news. MKO had to sell firewood to pay his sch fee & that of your former boss. The news now is that @MBuhari constructed that same Jada road which you abandoned for 8yrs. Well, Obj also neglected Otta road that leads to his abode.” @Joevankas “Last time we heard from Jonathan that was shoeless now it’s Atiku claiming to have started out as an orphan. Nigerians won’t fall for these lies ever again.” @tbrtroopers “President Atiku Thank you for including all of us in your visions for Nigeria. You have led by example and proven to be resolute and resourceful in you previous endeavors, the same goes to you VP @PeterGregoryObi . I can’t envisage anything but success. Thank you once again.” @Emperoraustus “His Excellency Atiku …. we once had an aspirant who later became the president. According to him, he doesn’t even have any shoe and he was from a poor family like you. We hope we will not end up experience the same regime if you win? Just asking.” @Essuharison “Politicians and poverty stories.Playing with our emotions. Let’s talk more about deliverable not all these stories you’re concocting.” @Musamonsur “This is similar to the story told by GEJ when he said he had no shoe, that made people to be sympathetic with him and voted for him.but Nigerians are wiser now.” @Sulebaba_Sadeeq “Atiku started by Selling Firewood, Graduated to Selling NITEL, Nigeria Airways etc. Now He wants to Sell NNPC and Nigeria. We say No! https://dkmngr.com/jonathan-had-no-shoes-you-sold-firewood-nigerians-slams-atiku/ |

According to him, the rise in the volume of trading on the nation’s stock exchange would come about because of belief by investors that his presidency would create an environment that would inspire confidence in the economy and bring in foreign capital into country. “Take this as a prediction, when in February 2019, the election results are reeled out and Atiku becomes president, the first thing that you (Nigerians) are going to see is that activities on the Nigerian stock exchange is going to rise. “You will see instant (upward) movements indicating that people believe there will be an environment where they can bring in capital,” he said. Daniel further blamed the country’s high inflation figures and loss of a chunk of the Naira’s value on the policies of the incumbent government, saying “It was capital flight occasioned by the ‘fear of Buhari’ that brought about the inflation, we are facing and the collapse of the Naira.” https://dkmngr.com/2019-gbenga-daniel-predicts-what-will-happen-in-nigeria-if-atiku-defeats-buhari/ |

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday reacted to a statement credited to the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai that there is no single thinking brain left in the PDP. https://i1.wp.com/dkmngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Peter-obi.png?w=695&ssl=1 He mocked the Kaduna governor; saying, “All the good brains are in the APC (All Progressives Congress), yet he country isn’t working.” Obi, who was also a former governor of Anambra State, spoke in Abuja while appearing on ARISE News Television. Recall that El-rufai’s comments followed backlash by the PDP in which he was called to order over his statement describing Peter Obi as a “religious bigot.” Addressing the matter, Obi stated, “Well, all the good brains are in APC, but the country is not working. The good brains are in APC, yet the country is collapsing. That’s all I can say. “When APC came, this country was growing at six per cent, since they came, look at where we are! Everything has headed south, not one item is positive.” The vice presidential candidate stressed that in 2015, APC came to campaign with a bundle of lies and presently, instead of the ruling party telling Nigerians if they had been able to fulfil their promises, they were spinning more lies. Obi further regretted the country’s debt burden and carpeted the APC-led administration for not curbing the trend. He explained, however, that while he was not against borrowing, there must be a purpose for it, and that this must be explained to Nigerians. According to him, “We are using almost 60 per cent of our revenue to service debts. We are borrowing more. The Nigerian financial system, National Assembly, everybody is flying to London for a road show to borrow more money. This is what we should be discussing, what is this money going to be used for? Not discussing whether Peter Obi comes from Anambra or Imo.” The vice presidential candidate also commented on the ongoing conversation on the minimum wage and said while he wasn’t speaking for the presidential candidate or the party, he said there was need to sit down with labour, look at the income of the nation and the various states and determine the appropriate figure. “Personally, I do not believe that somebody from Lagos should pay same thing with somebody from Ebonyi State. If you go all over the globe, there is no place where two states pay the same salary even America,” he said. READ ALSO: Delta Police Nab 3 Yahoo Boys Over Alleged Attempt To Use Girlfriends For Ritual On the search on Atiku by the security agencies, he said that the opposition leaders were not only targeted and persecuted, but the ruling party was turning the whole thing into childish affair. Obi said what the PDP was concerned with now was to bring the country back to where it used to be. He said his principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would prioritise security, national unity, education and job creation, if elected president of Nigeria, saying the country is broken, that another four years of the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be beyond contemplation of any right thinking Nigerian. https://dkmngr.com/good-brains-are-in-apc-yet-nigeria-is-not-working-peter-obi-mocks-el-rufai/ |
