The lady got herself trending online for the wrong reason after going to extra lengths just to get herself an iPhone X which was falsely promised to her by some guys in Sagamu area of Ogun state.

According to the Facebook user who posted the reported the incident, the lady was promised an iPhone X on one condition, that she will take drugs with them.

The lady who wanted the phone badly, can be seen taking some hard substances and also displaying her breasts in public before she later fell asleep after getting high.

Despite knowing that she was being filmed, she didn’t mind as she set her sight on the “reward” which was not given to her eventually, according to the poster.

The videos which went viral online – have sparked different reactions from Nigerian internet users – with some blasting the lady for selling herself so cheap just for a phone while others criticised the guys for “compelling” the lady to do so and taking advantage of her.

Daily Trust was told that gunmen stormed the area at night when it was raining and killed about 10 people.

Youths in the area today went on reprisal, attacking motorists.

A middle-aged woman, identified as Mrs Obiora, has been delivered of a set of twins in an emergency shelter for victims of flood at Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra.

The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that the woman who hails from Umuezeoma village gave birth on Monday at Ogbu-Aniocha, in one of the 28 emergency centres.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Ogbaru, Mr Arinzechukwu Awogu, who confirmed the incident told NAN that the newborns were a boy and girl.

He said: “Yes, a woman gave birth to a set of twins; the woman and the twins, a boy and girl are in good condition.

“The state government has evacuated them to the Comprehensive Health Centre at Atani for proper medical care.”

However, the council boss expressed sadness that a nine-year-old girl also lost her life to a flash flood at Amiyi, in Ogbaru.

“We also recorded casualty elsewhere. A nine-year-old girl was washed away by a flash flood at Amiyi, Ogbaru.

“Her body has been recovered and buried,” Awugo said.

Meanwhile, the state government has reiterated its commitment towards providing more relief materials for flood victims in Anambra.

The Deputy Governor, Nkem Okeke, gave the assurance when he visited some of the areas submerged by flood in the state.

Okeke, who is also the Chairman of the state Emergency Management Agency Committee, urged the flood victims to exercise patience.

The deputy governor assured the victims that state government was dedicated to their welfare.

He expressed optimism that the flood situation would improve soon, adding that the state government was collaborating with the National Emergency Agency to ameliorate their plights.

In an interview with newsmen, some of the victims appealed for the provision of more portable water and electricity at the centre.

NAN recalls that the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency and NEMA, on September 7, listed Anambra as one of the 12 states threatened by flood in the country.

Not fewer than 324,000 applicants nationwide have started screening exercise for 4,000 job spaces in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Speaking yesterday during an assessment tour to the screening centres in Abuja, Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi said the 4000 vacancies are made available for the officer cadre.

He said 3200 vacancies were made available for Road Marshal assistants while 1,000 vacancies were made available for Marshal Inspectorate cadre.

Oyeyemi said the applicants would go through different levels of screening exercise ranging from credentials, which has commenced aptitude test to be conducted by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), interview screening and drug test.

He said some irregularities ranging from the presence of married women, who were not supposed to participate in the recruitment exercise, was noticed.

He also frowned at the presence of pregnant women and applicants below the height limit required for the job.

Oyeyemi appreciated the military and the Department of State Security Services (DSS) for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the screening exercise.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to work diligently towards sacking the All Progressives Congress from power in 2019.

Wike said the APC Federal Government was not performing and had failed to deliver on its campaign promises.

Speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, Wike said all Nigerians must work in unison to ensure that the APC was defeated in the general elections next year.

He said, “The opposition groups need cooperation and understanding of certain things. It is allowed in politics. What that means is to say, look, we have the capacity to put all efforts together to remove this bad government. That is good for Nigeria. Coming together to move Nigeria forward is the way to go. Each group will bring their programmes and form a national agenda.

“We do not want to do it alone, but work together so that Nigeria can move forward. It should be encouraged further and that is what I stand for.”

The governor urged Nigerians to participate actively in the 2019 general elections because it was no longer wise to stand aloof under the current circumstances.

“Nigerians do not need to be aloof. This will play into the hands of those doing badly. People should come out and take their stand. Vote and insist on your vote. No struggle is easy but every struggle takes life.

“That is the way to change your country. To go to sleep is dangerous because it allows a bad leader to remain. In Ekiti, they know that under credible elections, the PDP will win.

“So, what they are doing is cause tension in the PDP strongholds and cause apathy. I tell Nigerians; do not be intimidated. Everybody has to make sacrifice. The media played a role in 2015, why not now! Have you been so intimidated,” Wike queried.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also approved the release of N20 billion to revitalize public universities in line with the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, made this disclosure in Abuja on Monday, NAN reports.

She explained that the money for the universities would be released through normal channels.

“The N20 billion for the universities would be released immediately in line with the established criteria used by the National Universities Commission.

“The federal government would monitor the progress of the implementation of the universities’ revitalization with a view to resolving emerging issues and keeping its promises to relevant stakeholders,” the minister said.

Meanwhile the President also approved the immediate release of N22.68 billion as retirement benefits for ex-workers of the rested Nigeria Airways.

Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki has faulted the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the result of the Osun State governorship election was inconclusive.

In a statement issued by him on Sunday, the senate president said INEC’s decision was wrong because the votes in certain polling units were cancelled.

The electoral body had earlier explained that the reason for the decision was because the number of cancelled votes were higher than the margin between the two top candidates.

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ademola Adeleke led the race with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than his closest rival, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.

The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where voting was cancelled and consequently INEC declared the result inconclusive – a development which Saraki was displeased with.

He said, “In my lay man’s opinion, the INEC was wrong in declaring the election as inconclusive because the votes in certain polling units were cancelled.

“The decision of INEC to cancel the election in those areas after voting had taken place means INEC had already excluded the votes in these areas from the election process and therefore those units should have no place in the overall results.

“My opinion would have been different if the election in the affected units did not take place at all, may be as a result of malfunctioning of the card reader machine or unavailability of the electoral materials.

“Since the voting took place and was cancelled, only the courts could reverse the initial decision by INEC to cancel the votes in these areas”.

He, therefore, called on the PDP to seek legal redress, saying that he wondered if INEC would have taken such a decision if the APC had been the one taking the lead.

The Senate President also asked INEC to “display courage, boldness, independence, neutrality and patriotism so as to send signals to the world at large that the Nigerian electoral system has come of age and that our democracy has matured”.

According to him, the way INEC conclusively handles the Osun election will determine global expectations from the nation’s political process.

He, therefore, asked the electoral body to ensure that the wishes of the electorate eventually prevail.

He also praised supporters of the PDP, as well as Senator Adeleke, urging them to remain focused and determined.

“I praise the dedication and hard work of PDP supporters and the candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke. They have remained steadfast, resilient, focused and determined.

“Our party is ahead, despite the irregularities. Our people must remain resilient to see this through to the finish. Now is the time to re-strategize, reach out to all the other candidates and their supporters, build on our lead, and bring this election home.

“Our supporters and the entire people of Osun State should remain calm and maintain peace as we move forward to see the successful completion of the electoral process.

“Once again, I thank all supporters of the PDP and the people of Osun State who stayed up all night, both physically and on social media to monitor the numbers and protect our votes. We remain undeterred, and we all remain determined to ensure that Senator Ademola Adeleke becomes the next Governor of Osun State”, Saraki stated.
