@sanchez01 Most channels are viewed with mpeg-4 or HD decoder. You wouldn't enjoy FTA with mpeg-2. I'd advice you to get HD decoder to enjoy FTA.
REASON: HD decoder can view a HD, Mpeg-4 and Mpeg-2 channels. Mpeg-4 doesn't view HD channel.

...not all HD receivers can play Mpeg 4 channels. There are some HD receivers that have DVB-S and Mpeg 2 functionality only.

Free to air remains the best. If you want to be free from Dsthieves then get yourself 1.8m dish and look for an installer to install Irib from 20°E, MultiTv from 28.2°E and other packages on Eutelsat 16A/Amos 5 from 16/17°E. With this you are sure of free to view of live EPL, Laliga, Champions league, International news like Al Jazeera English, France 24, RT, BBC. Free Hollywood movies, Nigerian movies, Music channels and so much more are receivable with that 1.8m dish ...only if the pride that one is using Dsthieves will allow the person.

I need old used 2.4m Vsat dish reflector. Only for the people in Anambra, Enugu or Asaba that can notify me if they have the above mentioned dish ...something like this on the picture below. You can quote me if you have the dish and I will contact you.

I was in my friend's place that uses Qsat sometimes early last year and he did blind scanning on nilesat I was like... wow, this is awesome. The blind scanning was done within one minute. Emmaachile is right...the love we have for Strong receivers have blinded us to the extent that most of us doesn't believe on other product. I bought my SRT4950H thinking that it has the same capability with Qsat aside from descrambling of encrypted channels but it was never the same. With the exclusion of illegality on Qsat, Strong product are still bomboi to Qsat even though that I don't have it. The only dislike I have for Qsat is it's user interface.

that your SKYMASTER DVR 7400 is an old German receiver that has only DVB-S with no DVB-S2. So your receiver cannot play any channel with mpeg4, mpeg2 dvb-s2 and HD extension. The good thing about that your receiver is that it has hard drive with 80GB memory. You can use it to watch channels on NILESAT and for you to do that, you will need 3m dish if you are not residing at the northern part of this country.

..the dish is poorly made,assuming you tracked the sat properly...a 2.4m dish can get 98% on 22west!..97% signal quality on old strong receivers gives 87% that is if you tracked the sat with newer strong receiver..that means the signal is poor....getting another lnb won't solve the problem!

that dish from faithchild look like the one Ikiriye used before and if so it means that Faithchild is doing something wrong especially from the focal length... I think he is not getting the accurate focal length or that the dish was not well plumbed.

there are twelve channels receivable on Yamal 402.9°E...African beam presently. Eight channels are free but only two channels are interesting which are GLOW TV and Lesotho Television but you can check the link below for more details.

SRT4950H has only one tuner.
Tuner cannot be integrated inside chipset. The
demodulator can be integrated inside chipset
and not tuner.

With that fec (8/9), it shows that the frequency is weak. Fec like that are used on frequency that is meant to service a smaller or a particular region.

Truely the receiver is very sensitive but not to compare with old strong product like 4652 (made in korea). I will do some research concerning what you said that the twin tunner is integrated inside the chipset of the receiver (SRT4950H).

SRT4950H doesn't have twin tunner as some people claim, I am presently using it...except if Strong-technologies have introduced new SRT4950H with twin tunner.

the SRT4922D+ that Strong-technologies just introduced to the market is better than SRT4922(A). I tested the receiver yesterday and discovered that the tuner is more sensitive than that of 4922(A) but I still prefer 4950H. The reason is that it takes 4950 series less than two minutes to blindscan a particular satellite unlike other Strong receivers that takes ages to blindscan . 2. The update comes regularly. 3. It has a bigger memory etc. I know some may say that 4950 series is not friendly to use but I'm telling you that the receiver is not meant for newbies in the world of satellites. Just as android phone is complex to java phone users so is 4950 series.

@all.I was at SOBIS today to purchase 4922A only to discover it has been withdrawn from the market because of the new 4922D+. Bought 4922D+ @ N 9,800

They are selling it at the rate of nine thousand five hundred naira only (#9500:00k) at SOBIS, Onitsha branch. The processor (550MHz) is the same with 4922(A)...too small...memory is 128 Megabytes... too small. I still prefer 4950 series that has bigger processor (667MHz) with 2 Gigabytes memory even though that 4950 series is tedious to operate.

That MB on that picture stands for megabytes. Many people usually call it MB which is wrong, it is called data. When data is in gigabytes, what is it called? MB? no it is called data (mobile data).
